#Inkober2017 Magical Binoculars.

I read a quote by a man I hadn’t heard of before, Wayne Dyer.   I made such a connection with the quote,  that ‘Magical Binoculars’ became the inking you see in the photograph.

If you could have magical binoculars that you could focus and look at the field of intention, you would see what the source of all things looks like.   It’s a source of love and kindness and beauty and creativity, and it’s a source that excludes nothing and it’s a source of unlimited abundance.

Wayne Dyer.

Isn’t that lovely?  If you don’t get the ‘lovely’ first time, read it again. Read it as many times as you need to in order to use your own internal Magical Binoculars, and not only see what that quote is saying, but to feel it too.

If you look at the InkTober picture for today you’ll see a pretty standard view of a scene, looking out from a beach, as night is falling.  It’s not dark, but it’s not light.  You can still see the land and the edge of the sea in the distance, but you can’t really see anything other than that.

But …  what do you suppose would happen if you looked through the Magical Binoculars?  What might you see then?  What wonders would open up for you, I wonder?

Would you see the birds, flying in the sky, having one last stretch of their wings before going home to bed?

Could you see the man, stood on the end of that land in the distance, with his fishing rod in his hand?

Would you perhaps see the Mermaid, playing in the moonlight?

Who knows … for your sight may be different from mine.  Perhaps you will focus your eyes in a different direction. Perhaps you will lift your eyes to the sky above and see the Gates of Heaven.  Would you maybe, see the Angel?  Or perhaps you will look to the Edge of the Sea, in the distance, and see what is there and has been there all the time, but we miss it because we don’t use our Magical Binoculars.

The inks I used for this drawing were:

  • Black Ink
  • Brown Ink
  • Teal Drawing Ink
  • Metallic Drawing Ink in Rose Gold and Silver (see pic. below)
  • Yellow Drawing Ink
  • Blue Ink

Ocaldo Metallic Drawing Ink

… in addition, I used a white Jelly Roll Pen for the highlights on the Magical Binoculars, and a tiny amount of Acrylic white paint in order to help the moon and clouds to be what I wanted them to be.  But apart from that, everything else you see is ink.

Use your Magical Binoculars today.  See if you can find the things you might normally miss because you’re too busy,  or not see at all, even though they’re right there, under your nose!

Wishing you a Magical Monday.

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Wonderful piece of artwork Cobs. Great quote. I have not seen that before. A lovely thought but my only concern with the magic binoculars would be that there would be no need for imagination, dreams, hope or faith. We all see things differently in our minds eye. If we had the magic binoculars we would all just see the same thing.

    1. Ahhh …. but the magic binoculars, as far as I know, don’t exists in the commerically buyable world.

We all come equipped with Magical Binoculars. We see what we choose to see, through them.

It’s a bit like cloud watching. I might see a train going through the sky, and you might see something entirely different, even though we’re both looking at the same clouds.

We all need to use our Magical Binoculars more. We need to actually see, and enjoy. We can all do this. It’s a choice.

  2. On that basis the magic binoculars would be a wonderful idea 🙂 Not so sure I agree about the field of intention aspect of it. However, Wouldn’t be lovely to see the birds of prey flying high rather that just a spot in the sky.

    1. I would love to spy the owls we hear of a night time here in Dorset. Mr.C has developed a way of whistling to one particular Owl, which matches his/her sound, so that when Cobs Snr. makes the noise, the owl answers him back.
Aww, it makes me all squiggly inside, with joy!

        1. Me too …. although I could do without the ‘pellets’ they sometimes gift me with, on the decking. lol

Although I’m still waiting for that special moment that I fall in love with our move to the seaside … I’m very aware of exactly how blessed we are. (But if God happens to be reading … I’d very much like to win the lottery so that I could make the wished for adaptions to this wee little abode)! 😀

  3. I’m going to use my Magic Binoculars to see things close by today. The rain is coming down heavily, shutting out the mountains. I usually look at the horizon, but today I’m going to concentrate on the rain hitting the deck, two bushes with red/orange berries, and the horses that have returned to the pasture after being away for two months. Since the binoculars are magic, I hope to discover the secrets of the horses — where they were and what they did.

    1. I love to listen to the rain. It has such a romance about it.

The Horses …. mentally raise your Magical Binoculars to your eyes, and see them in all their glory. They’re not merely black/brown/white horses … their manes are of many colours, just like their tails. All soft ice-cream colours. But the biggest Magical surprise is … if you believe in the power of your in built magical Binoculars (and you HAVE to believe) … you will see that those horses aren’t just horses. They’re Unicorns!

      1. About the horses…In my six grade class my teacher was also the art teacher. I got to set up by her desk ( don’t ask why) and one day I told her about my dream of a purple horse with a green mane. She drew thw horse for me only added a gray/black mane. I still have the drawing. Little girls in Texas always dream of having a horse.

        1. Ohhhh Bev!!! And you still have the drawing. How incredible. What a great teacher!

See … I love to look at horses, but I’m scared half silly of them. I think they’re incredible creatures and so breath-taking to look at. However .. they KNOW I’m scared of them so they follow me about.

I had one horse back me into a little brick built shed and pushed her head through the doorway so that I was completely trapped. She was laughing at me. You could see it on her face and in her eyes. She was having a right old jolly time of it.

The owners had never seen her do that before … and said .. “she must really be taken with you! She’s very friendly, but has never wanted to be with someone so much!”

Yeah… she just wanted to have a laugh! Little divil!

  4. I had the privilege of seeing Wayne Dyer and all the others at an I Can seminar in Vancouver BC The lovely Louise Hay was there of course, and so many others. I have nearly a whole bookcase full of their books, however reading them can sometimes be a challenge, not that they are boring by any means, but, it really makes you look at yourself and what you are doing with your “self”.
Magic binoculars, mmmm, let me see, maybe see my parents again, I do wish heaven had visiting hours.
I found yesterday to be difficult for me, it has been a year already that my wee Bea (tiny Boston terrier) left this earth. It was hard. Wish I could send you a photo of her.
Anyway, don’t mean to bum anyone out, but sometimes it is necessary to talk about things.
Love the secret garden. I that book. Maybe good that I bring it out. 🙂 Thanks for letting me ramble Cobs.

    1. Dearest Soozy… you can come and ramble here any time you like. That’s what coffee is for! Some clever chap worked out that we need special moments in the day to ramble, so he invented cups of coffee. And …I TRUTHFULLY have a mug of hot steaming coffee right next to me as I type.

Your parents … you can see them any time you like Soozy. They’re just in the next room. The door is open. You can talk to them any time you want. They will hear you.

Bea, your tiny boston terrier… I’m so sorry to the heart of me to hear of this loss. Of course you are feeling the loss of her all over again, because of the date.
You wouldn’t be ‘normal’ if you hadn’t got her on your mind right now.

Right, young lady …. you haven’t ‘bummed anyone’ out, and you’ve hit the nail on the head when you say that sometimes it’s necessary to talk about these things, because if we don’t get this stuff out of our head then it goes round and round and round inside our head and it can drive us to distraction. Getting it out helps our minds to release some of the anguish. Sharing that sorrow with someone is necessary Soozy.

God put me in the right place, and brought you to that place, at the right time, so that we could chat about dearest little Bea.

You come and ‘ramble’ any time you like Soozy.
Sending uplifting love and lots of smiles … Cobs. xxx

  5. Happy Monday Cobs! 🙂 hmmm, What to mention first? I love your Inktober artwork, Magical Binoculars. I love both the quotes by Wayne Dyer too. So very thought provoking, and I am thrilled someone else cloud watches! 🙂 Each blog post you create is a gift for others to receive. Thank you for sharing! Mr. C. whistling to a particular owl is wonderful! I wonder what they were talking about? I do that with random birds and with a joyful heart hoping its something sweet and kind! Have a Wonderful week Lovely friend! XX

    1. Hello lovely Ruthie! Happy Monday to you too!
Aw I’m thrilled to pieces to hear that you like the Magical Binoculars and love the Wayne Dyer quotes.
I loved them too, and yes, I agree, thought provoking.

Cloud watching …. I’ve done it since I was knee high to an ant. I can remember laying on the grass and watching the clouds – and seeing what pictures they gave to me. And just a ‘few’ years later I still cloud watch. I might not lay on the ground and do it (cause I don’t want creepy crawlies in my hair or clambering up my legs (shudder)), but I still do it.

Mr.Cobs chatting with one of the owls which comes and visits …. aw it brings me out in fun bumps! I get all silly, wriggly and giggly (quietly so) when he does the owly whistley ‘whoo hoo’ – cooing noise, and the owl answers back with the exact same noise, same pitch, everything. Sadly Old Cobs can’t keep it up for long (I’d have him chatting with that owl for hours to be honest) – as he says his mouth eventually dries up. But for the time that the conversation goes on, I’m thankful from the tip of my toes to the top of my head.

Thank you so much for coming and having a coffee with me Ruthie, and thank you also for the fabulous chat. Love it.

  6. Good interpretation of the quote, Cobs. I try to use my magic binoculars as often as I can… but still there comes a time when a reminder is needed (timely as usual!)
Great piece of artwork once again. I see an angel appearing in the moon.

    1. Good Monday to you Mr.Tom! 😊
I am tickled pink that you have the full use of your Magical Binoculars – even if a reminder is needed sometimes.

Thank you for your kind words sir. I’m honoured that you like the inking.
Thank you also for coming, Tom. Lovely to see you here.

I fell a few days behind a short time ago, and it took me A.G.E.S. to catch up again. I kept thinking that I’d found the magic system for catching up …. but the faster I seemed to get, the more behind I became because everyone suddenly began to post regularly and I just didn’t seem able to catch up. Aw, dreadful.
          😞

    1. Aww, thank you Rabbit.
Wayne Dyer .. since I saw that first quotation, I’ve googled and found out more about him. He comes over as a really lovely chap when I saw him interviewed. I’ve also found some more of his quotes and they truly are wonderful.

I know that the meaning behind his quote about the Magical Binoculars isn’t as I have portrayed it in the ink drawing, and that in actual fact it has a much deeper meaning – but I so wanted to use his magical binoculars in a way that brought them to a place where everyone could ‘get’ the quote and even connect with it in it’s true meaning.

So I just let my imagination run free and this inking was what I came up with.

I’m so over-joyed that you ‘got it’ Rabbit, and that you weren’t ‘irked’ by me putting a bit of a twist on the quote.

Happy Tuesday, by the way! I hope your day is terrific and that you have a truly magical day.

  9. Oh how I need those magical binoculars this week! This has been one of the worst weeks ever! I need to use those magical binoculars to see the good around me. On Monday, my boss of 38 years was diagnosed with a brain tumor. On Thursday they operated and were able to remove 99% of it. Unfortunately, they are pretty sure that it is glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of cancer. Such a devastating diagnosis. My heart goes out to his family. He is such a wonderful person, the best boss you could ever have. I’m just at a loss for words. So sad. 😦

    1. Oohhh Nancee,
this is such distressing news, and devastating to all concerned. I’m so sorry to hear this.

After being an employee, and knowing him for 38 years, you must have grown very fond of him, and perhaps even feel he’s like part of your family. So to hear that ‘one of your family’ has been given this news as a possibility of what ‘might be’, must have been traumatic.

For now, let’s hang on to that small possibility that the surgeons and doctors may be wrong. They said ‘pretty sure’ – so that’s not absolutely sure. , There’s a very small chance that they may be wrong.

Prayer …or if you’re not a believer, then good thoughts; positive thoughts, for his wellness, and for the chance that the doctors are wrong … let’s all who are reading, all pray and push positive, good thoughts, out of our heads and send all these positive thoughts and prayers into the universe, and on their way to Heaven. All joining together to make one GREAT BIG WISH and PRAYER.

When many people join together with one thought, good things have been known to happen.

It doesn’t have to be a fancy prayer, nor a wordy one. It can simply begin with “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. …” Or .. whatever prayer you would pray according to your faith.

I am praying for him Nancee. You pray, and that’s two of us. Where two or more gather together with one request, that is the making of a powerful prayer, so imagine how powerful the prayer could be if many joined together.

Sending my love to you Nancee.
      Stay positive, and keep praying.
      love~ Cobs. x
