I couldn’t post this until today because I had to make sure that the surprise wasn’t spoiled. I don’t think anyone would have shown my gorgeous Mother in Law a picture of her card, but … well I felt it would have been kind of a bad luck thing to have posted it before today.
Cards which I’d embellished to within an inch of their livesand worked for hours on over a period of days, had gone missing in the post before now, so I decided that I would make a pretty, ladylike card this time, but I’d make it so that it slipped into a regular envelope, as I thought that maybe I would be in with a chance of it getting there. And … we had a text message from my lovely sister-in-law (Mr.Cobs sister) letting us know that the card had arrived. WHOO HOO!
Taking photo’s of this card were nigh on impossible. I made it so that it had a ‘see through’ front, made from Acetate. So I tried various things in the hope of getting a decent photo which would show that see through bit. I failed miserably.
What you have here are a selection of photos which are pretty rubbish but they’re the best I had out of about 20 photos.
To make the card: I removed a section from the front of a scored and folded 6×6 and replaced it with the acetate. I then fussy cut into some papers for the top and bottom of the card front, and added some more fussy cut roses and leaves for the ‘spine’ edge. Added a sentiment to the front, and then turned my attention to the inside.
The inside is actually a large die cut central section, which you can take out and use on the card by itself, but I so liked it as it was that I fixed it in place using strips of double-sided tape, and then trimmed it to size and adhered it to the inside.
I was so happy with this card when it was finished as it looked so pretty and I knew my much-loved mother-in-law would like it as it was a little bit different – having the see through front.
As a gift to make her smile and say Thank You for being such a wonderful Mother, we’ve sent her an arrangement of pretty cottagey type flowers, all yellows and lemons and greens, which we arranged to be delivered today, Sunday 26th March ~ which is Mothering Sunday, here in the United Kingdom. The colours of the floral arrangement were so cheerful and bright that they made me smile, so I knew they’d make her smile too.
Although I know that Mothering Sunday happens on different days in different parts of the world, it’s Mothers Day here, so to all of the Mothers around the world, I wish you a very happy, warm and loved up Sunday.
To those who aren’t Mothers, through choice or circumstance, I wish you too a happy, warm and much loved up day.
And… just because it’s Mothers day … we have: Jokes!

When I first saw Hunkydory Box Pops(last year) I fell in love with them and bought two sets. Farm and Jungle. And … I bought them just to make for my Grandson, Little Cobs.
I made him one at Christmas(and forgot to share it with you! tsk) – a Christmas Crocodile – in a clear box, to which I’d added a bundle of ‘snowballs’ – and he loved it. (Who says you can only make Christmas cards for children with Rudolph or Santa on them?)
You can make these Box Pops as simple or as complicated as you like, and can use them for almost any occasion too! For Children, they fit the bill and work perfectly. But … I can actually see that they could work for adults. They inject an element of fun into a card.
You make up your chosen animal using the die cut elements. Then you can either press it flat and put it into an envelope (envelopes come supplied with the die cuts), or you can make an Acetate box and pop your card into it so that the recipient can keep the card held inside the box after they’ve displayed it – or you can seal the box shut so that the card will be held inside the box and protected. (If you’re not good at making boxes then there are boxes, cut to size and ready scored, from Hunkydory).
In the above photo – I tried to light piggy so that you could see the folds of the ‘box’ which make the body of the pig. Hence the reason they’re called ‘box pops’.
Once made up, you can simply press your animal flat and put it in an envelope – but it will pop back up when the recipient opens it up when they receive it. The head is fixed to the body by a folded piece of acetate, which gives the card ‘nodding dog’ look. (or in this case nodding pig). So cute!
This Little Piggy Loves You. (Well it would …. after all, it’s a Valentines Pig!)
I made the lid of the box out of acetate, so that the pig can be viewed from the sides and the top. And … the funny thing is … when you look at piggy through the sides, he’s looking at you. But when you view piggy from above … he’s still looking at you!How does that happen? Is it magic? Maybe piggy is Super Pig – (like Super Man).
I added hearts and stars which I sprinkled around the inside, and finally added a ribbon handle, and ribbon around the base and the lid, and VOILA! One Valentines Card, from a Grammy to her 5-year-old Grandson.

I know Mondays can be drab sometimes, but give it chance. You know they nearly always get better, even if you don’t feel the ‘happy’ straight away. Give the day chance to show you the warmth, the smiles, and even the love. Allow yourself to have a lovey day!
Most of all . . . whatever you’re doing today, be good to yourself … and to each other. It helps the world go around and makes life so much enjoyable and pleasant. And the world could do with a lot more enjoyable and pleasant in it.

. . . join me on a journey through this card . . .
Every few days/weeks … now and again … I’ll make what I call a ‘labour intensive’ card. One of those cards which takes more time than the regular cards you’ve so far seen me post here. This card – ‘Life is a Journey, not a Destination’, is one of those cards.
It’s not that these types of cards are difficult, they just take a little more thinking and working out so that you end up with the ‘feel’ that you started out knowing you wanted. This particular card was inspired by a piece of wall art which I have hung in my bedroom, facing my bed. It’s an iron framed rectangle with a piece of calico strung in the centre and printed on the calico are the words Life is a Journey, not a Destination, and that’s what gave me the theme for the card.
I wanted the card to have a vintage style, with a slightly ‘steampunkery’ feel to it – but at the same time I knew I wanted it to carry a message, and wanted the message to be read as either literal or spiritual, depending on who the card ended up with, and the circumstances they were in within their life, at that time. And ... I think I’ve managed it.
This card could be for someone who’s:- moving house; going on a cruise or going abroad; it could be a simple regular birthday card (for either a man or a woman); it could be for someone who’s starting a new job; or perhaps for a person who needs some encouragement; maybe some tests soon?; or … it could be given to someone who is going through some sort of personal challenge or challenging time, and this card would be a gentle, loving way of saying that they’re going to get through this time and move on to a better place or time.
I’ll give you a list of everything I used to make this card at the end of the post, because I don’t want anyone to look at the list and think that they couldn’t make a card like this. I might have different stash to you, and I might have different cardstock; dies; ink pads; glues etc etc … but I’m pretty sure you will have things in your stash that you could use to pull a card like this or similar together. Just because the list of stuff I’ve used might look long – please don’t be put off. If you want to make something like this, go and look at your stash. You’d be surprised what you can use in order to make your own style of card.

As followers and readers of my blog know … I LOVE to put surprises inside all the cards I make. I feel that the inside of a card is just so wasted and such a let down when you open a birthday/Christmas or any other time card, and find a big white space with a little bit of writing.
I like cards to be beautiful inside and out and surprise the receiver when they open their card! . . .
Oooo… I wonder what the magnifying glass is for?! ;D
OOhh .. another surprise! .. now we have a lucky wish star and a ticket which gives me ‘entitlement’ to one wish! But .. what the devil is that magnifying glass for???
Ah haaaa! . . . It’s so you can read the page from the dictionary/thesaurus! Ok .. one mystery solved, . . . but … what’s that pink ticket by the end of the handle?
Ah haaaa! . . . mystery number two solved! (Just call me Sherlock. lol)
Oh, and by the way … the postcard inside . . . is for you to write your message on, for the person you’re sending the card to! See? It all makes sense!

(photo above) . . . is the just finished card, stood on a glass cutting mat, on my desk … and that’s all my mess important, essential, fabulous, well organised {cough} equipment and tools behind the card. (I’ll clean it up properly at some point, so that I can take a photograph of my craft room and share it.)

2 x short lengths of silver-grey Rayon Seam Binding.
Grey and white Bakers Twine
3 x fuzzy, funky fibre, Eyelash Knitting Yarn/Wool – 1 x length of warm brown. 1 x length of jet black. 1 x length of a blues and purples mix.
One tiny metal vintage looking Postcard embellishment.
And that’s all there is to it! 😀
Aw,please don’t be daunted by the apparently long list of ingredients for this recipe. I’ve named almost everything I used here just to be helpful to anyone who wants to know where I got a particular thing, or the make of the papers or dies etc, (named everything apart from glue .. but if you need to know: I used Collall All Purpose, Anita’s Tacky Glue, hot glue, and Double Sided Tape) – but I bet you use tons of stuff when you craft a card and you don’t even notice what you’re using anymore. It’s just all … ‘stuff’ … which is treasured and loved, and there because you use it!
