An introduction to a new member of the Cobweb family!

I mentioned a couple of weeks or so ago, that we had a new addition to the family, but that I’d tell you more about this at a later date. Well, this is that later date!

Happy Monday all! Flipping heck, it’s the 27th of September already…. and yet, I’m still living in March. I haven’t (inside my head) even reached the end of March because March is when ‘Lockdown’ began here in the UK. The only way I know what month it is, is to look down at the bottom, right hand corner of my ‘puter, or laptop screen, and it helpfully gives me the date.

The Dates of the Week are troublesome – when not on the ‘puter – toobut, thankfully, we have one of those day/date calendar blocks of wood things, on the kitchen windowsill, and Mr. Cobs is in charge of changing that daily so that we don’t ‘get lost’ in this sea of ‘what day, month, year are we living in?’ abnormality.

But … we aren’t here to talk about Covid 19 or Coronavirus or confusion. The news on TV talks enough about it, so we shall talk about things which make us smile. Things which bring joy to the heart. Stuff which, this week, isn’t craft.

I mentioned a couple of weeks or so ago, that we had a new addition to the family, but that I’d tell you more about this at a later date. Well, this is that later date!

On July the 14th 2019, our family grew by four feet.

I’d told Hugo, before this date, that Mommy was travelling quite a long way to look at a teeny tiny baby cow…. and that he could come with me, but he would have to sit patiently in the car for a little while, while mom looked at this very special baby.

I met this special baby, and knew straight away that she was meant to be in our family. I watched her scooting around the big garden, clambering over the other babies who were born at the same time as she was, and, joy of joys, I got to hold her, cuddle her and kiss her tiny little head and paws. Would you like to meet her?

Little Baby Tilly – D.O.B. – 18th May 2019

As you might have guessed from looking at the photograph, her name is Tilly. Well, actually, her name in full is: Tilly Twinkles Braveheart.

Braveheart – because the breeder (a first time breeder who was SO lovely that I wanted her to be part of my family too) had said she (Tilly) had proven herself to be a little Braveheart, and so she called her that. Tilly Twinkles was the name I chose for her because she looked like a Tilly, and she Twinkled – so Tilly Twinkles it had to be.

Hugo, Tilly Twinkles and Momma.
This sentiment is completely true – I KNEW straight away when I saw Hugo – and I knew straight away when I saw Tilly. My heart recognised them as if we’d known each other a life time already.

Tilly came home on Sunday, July 14th, and she fitted in straight away. Well, perhaps ‘fitted in’ isn’t quite the right words – it was more like she came, she took over and she trained us to her will.

Big brother Hugo, and his little sister Tilly Twinkles

Hugo adored her. From the moment we drove away from the breeders house with her, he loved her to the moon and back plus a whole heap lot more. Everywhere Tilly went, Hugo went too. He looked after her. Played with her. Shared even his most favourite toys with her. I could hear him saying, over and over and over again – “Are we REALLY keeping her? Is she mine?”

She was this tiny scrap of gorgeousness, who won the hearts of everyone who met her. The vets and all the nurses. The girls working in the pet shop. People in the street. Of course, Grandson Little Cobs, thought she was adorable. He loved to sit on the floor and have her on his lap – and Tilly enjoyed the adoration. Naturally.

When it was time for her to have a nap, we would put her on her bed inside her puppy play pen, and she’d go straight to sleep. Hugo, on the other hand, wouldn’t. He would sit right next to her, on the other side of the playpen, keeping watch over her. If she woke, his ears would go back, his eyes would take on a panic look and he’d look at me as if asking me to do ‘something’ because, in his opinion, she obviously needed something and I, as the mom, would know what to do. He loved her from the tip of her nose to the end of her almost none existent tail. (French Bulldogs are born without tails. They don’t have their tails docked because they don’t have a tail to begin with).

Her puppy playpen also came in useful for allowing the Cats – Alf Capone (Used Furniture Dealer) and Maisie Dotes (crazy, neurotic cat with many loose screws) to be introduced to Tilly, and also time to get used to her, and her to them.

Alf well he’s pretty accepting of everything. He’s a laid back, chilled out, lover not a fighter – so he just got used to the way she smelled and then he was fine.

Maisie Dotesshe doesn’t have a screw looseALL of her screws are loose – so even after all this time, over a year now, she still can’t figure Tilly out. However – Tilly can’t figure her out either. Tilly doesn’t understand why the fluff ball of hissy fits rubs her cheeks up Tillys face. She doesn’t understand why the idiot cat rushes through the living room at breakneck speed, as if she’s in mortal danger. Basically … Tilly doesn’t ‘get’ Maisie at all. But she has learnt to distrust her, because Maisie can be all comely and silly and then change in a nano second into a Neurotic Idiot who should be on the next ‘special bus’ out of town.

Yes – that really is a dummy (pacifier for our US readers). She loves them. Hugo doesn’t love them – he just wants them in order to chew them up!

In short … Tilly Twinkles is like Mary PoppinsPractically Perfect in Every Way! She’s a daddy’s girl and will sit outside the door and howl if he’s on the other side of it. She is loving, caring, fun, sweet, crazy, and loves the pine cones that the squirrels throw down for her. She will race around the garden at 75 miles an hour and use the house as part of the race track she has going on inside her head. Every time the doorbell rings, she gets to the door before anyone else, and when the top half of the door is opened (we have a stable door) – she counts to two and then JUMPS high in the air so that she can just peep over the door to see who’s there. Frightens the ‘you know what’ out of the person on the other side of the door – but she (and we) find it huge fun.

Hugo had a first Birthday Party with Tilly – and enjoyed it all the more because Tilly made it super fun.

My handsome boy, Hugo, on his 1st Birthday

Hugo and Tilly are the bestest of friends, and still as much in love with each other as they were from day 1. They adore being together. Love to play. Love to tease each other. Love walking doggy walks together. Hugo protects her – but she really doesn’t need it. She genuinely is, Braveheart. She is scared of nothing and loves everything.

Hugo and Tilly watching her favourite film

She loves watching TV – and her favourite film is: The Aristocats. However, her favourite music is the Muppets Theme Music – and her very most favourite version of it is a new TV advert here in the UK, for John Lewis, which uses the Muppet Theme music, but without the singers. (click below to watch/hear it) Wherever she is in the house, if she hears that advert come on TV – she rushes in and sits watching, tilting her head from one side to the other, over and over again.

Our family is now complete. We have the most incredible two ‘children’ – and these two children are my favourites. But don’t tell our girls that – for if you do, I’ll deny it and then come and find you and dig up your garden.

Ok enough of me blabbering on … we’ve reached that moment when we have to have the Monday Fun…. here come the Jokes Folks!

Why did the Oreo go to the dentist?

Because he lost his filling.

I got my daughter a fridge for her birthday.

I can’t wait to see her face light up when she opens it.

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

    1. Hello QWCraft …
Aw, I’m tickled that you like Tilly. If you met her in real life, you would fall in love within seconds. People have no choice – she just makes them love her – and people do!

I hope your day is lovely and that by the time bedtime comes around, you lay there in your bed and smile at your blessings today.
Sending heaps of squidges from me …. and some licks up the face, over your nose and even your eyes ~ from Tilly Twinkles. ❤

  1. Gorgeous new addition, Cobs! I may love her more than Hugo! And she does look like a baby cow! (I had a severe blond moment whilst reading your post, and thought Tilly Twinkles actually was a cow. I thought ‘don’t they start off small!’ In my defence, your Cobs-ship, being a Townie, I can honestly say I’ve never ever seen a newborn calf ever, and couldn’t tell you if they started out tiny or just smaller versions of the mummy cow. Now, obviously, I’ve seen a calf before, I’m not that much of a Townie, just never a brand new one.)
Ah yes. Gorgeous new addition and Maisie Dotes will get used to her eventually. Love the fact Tilly loves the Muppet’s theme tune. Good taste.
Fun jokes yet again… I could do with a new fridge! 🤣
    Have a great Monday, Cobs!

    1. Good day, your Tom-ship.
      How be your day?

Aw I’m laughing (out [very] loud) here about you believing that I was really getting a baby cow! Oh. My. Good. Garden. Cabbage! Can you imagine me having a cow in the house? Our garden – although a bit of a wrap around – isn’t anywhere near big enough to house even a miniature cow! Tilly and Hugo seem to find it an amusing place though – which is the important bit.

Yup, Tilly really does have good taste. She is a bit of a telly addict mind – and she loves You Tube – particularly Disney songs.

She will come and sit either under my desk on a large footstool or next to me in one of the two dog beds next to my desk, and she loves the music I play while I’m ‘working’. She particularly loves this piece, which was composed by one of my favourites – John Newton Howard. Click to play (it’s a safe link). I have a feeling you’ll enjoy this one too.

Glad you enjoyed the jokes, Tom… and sadly, with the expense of being the momma of these two children who I love more than I can explain, I cannot stretch to a new fridge. However … Winter’s on it’s way, so put things in string bags and hang them on the washing line. That should do the trick for keeping the milk and butter cold. lol.

Thanks for coming, my lovely friend. Have a truly blessed rest of your day.
      Sending a million squidges ~ Cobs. x

    2. Yes, me too. But I’m not a townie and I’ve seen lots of calves, but for one split second I was thinking since there’s “miniature” everything, (pigs, horses, etc.) there might be miniature cows too. But that small?!? I think not. And then I had a good laugh. Fun post. Fun blog.

  2. What is it about these four legs that keep us in a state of pure delight. With that said my Babe has her moments when I really can see myself without her but she is mine and even though she stays right under me almost all day ,except when she is busy gardening, I think she feels responsible for me with my husband gone. She still digs down to China when I am busy outside which is why I’m out side. You will remember she destroyed my garden after his passing and I am still trying to put it back together again.( Kinda like Humpty Dumpty).
Hugo and Tilly are just the cutest twosome and when you add the cats I’m sure things get really entertaining around the cottage.
When I was in high school, long years ago, we had a coach who transported young calves in the back seat of his car. Hard to get crazier than that so I too thought a baby cow was in your cottage yard. lol
Love you Miss Cob. You are more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

    1. Aww Hello Bev.
My eyes grew as wide as saucers when I read about your Coach who transported young calves in the back seat of his car!!
      Love it!!

You’re right … things do get entertaining around the cottage – mainly because Tilly and Hugo do something which is known by ALL French Bulldog owners, that being something called ‘The Zoomies’.

Three times a day (sometimes 4) Hugo and Tilly Twinkles RACE AT BREAKNECK SPEED around the house, and if the back door is open, they will run round what they believe is a race track – figure of 8 – through the house, into the conservatory and then out into the garden… across the decking, down onto the fairy path …. race to the end of the garden, around the big Pine Tree with the ivy growing up it, then following the fairy path, they race around the hexagonal bed in the middle, and finally, across the decking, through the conservatory and into the house. Inside … they race around the living room, kitchen and up the hallway, turning on a penny and doing the whole route all over again.

We’ve learnt to tuck our legs in and carry on reading or whatever we’re doing – and every once in a while I call out:- “Errrrr, be careful now!” – which slows them down just for a second, after which the game continues. lol.

I love that your Babe looks after you Bev. The digging up of the garden after your husband passed, was her trying to make sense of where he’d gone, and also her frustration at not understanding why he’d simply disappeared. But I’m so glad that she eventually calmed down and has stuck right by your side.

Digging for China … ahh, bless her. She’s doing her version of helping you sort the garden out. LOL.

Aw thank you for coming Bev., and for the great chat. I adore our chats, and love you more than stars in the sky. You are a bundle of fun and entertainment wrapped up in cuteness.
Have a great Monday, my fabulous friend. ~ Cobs. xxx ❤

I’m tickled pink that you like Hugo and Tilly Twinkles, and yes, I totally agree, there is something of a magic about Puppies. They come sprinkled in Fairy Dust, which makes you almost melt inside.

Thank you so much for coming Karen.
It’s so lovely to see you again. :o)

  4. Something told me you were going to get another Frenchie. Little Miss Tilly is the cutest little button although not so little anymore I imagine. No more puppies for me, I am at an age now where it requires bending, ha ha ha. I have Hope, a new Boston Terrier 2 years ago since my ol’ friend Stan passed at 15 years of age. I miss him every day. Hope is a sweet girl, loves everybody, dogs and kids alike. Really is a blessing but she made me realize that I just can’t do puppies any more. I will always have a dog or two in my house though. I still have my senior Chihuahua siblings they will be 12 in November. Time flies.
Thank you for introducing us to your new girl. It’s been lovely having my morning coffee with you Cobs. Have a glorious week. 🙂 Much love from across the pond.

    1. Hello Soozy!
Oh I’m so, SO happy that you didn’t miss this post. I thought of you as I was tapping it out on my computer, thinking to myself…. “Soozy will love this little baby girl” – and I sat for a moment, recalling Stan and how sweet he was.

I remember Hope and the photo you shared with me when you first got her, she’s a really lovely looking girl, and also remember your Chihuahua babies – bless them.

I think you’re right – we do get to an age where we know that puppies are no longer on the menu of options available. I remember my mom getting to that age too. When I got married and left home, she was so attached to my miniature poodle, Mandy, that I had to leave her with my mom. But when Mandy eventually passed on, my mom said she would like another dog, but not a puppy, as she felt she was too old to go through all that training.

We visited lots of dog adoption centres, in the hope of finding her another dog, but although all the dogs in each place we went to, were all really lovely, my mom just didn’t find that magical moment where she felt that connection with a dog. In the end, she didn’t adopt another dog, but instead used to share our dogs – and she would baby-sit them, and even came and lived in our house while we went on a short holiday (5 days), and she had full care of our dogs – two British Bulldogs.

I think when I get to that age, I will perhaps look after dogs who are waiting to be adopted, or I’ll foster puppies who’ve lost their mummies or foster cats. Failing that …. I’ll adopt hedgehogs that can no longer be left out in the forests and woods etc., but need a little more care and containment in a safe garden. Yeah … that sounds like my retirement plan. Hedgehogs.

Aw Soozy I’m so happy to see you today, thank you so much for coming and having a coffee time with me. Love chatting with you my beautiful friend.
Sending you squidges and all my love, from me in my corner, to you in yours.~ Cobs. xxx

      1. My dear friend (who had Hope and her siblings) just adopted a wee hedgehog and she calls her Petunia Pricklepants ❤ She is still kinda shy but is getting there. Seems to love her baths. 🙂 Your retirement sounds like it will be wonderful. I do think fostering or helping out by adopting an older fur baby will be my future. Cuddles to Hugo and Tilly 🙂

  5. Awe, now isn’t she just the cutest! We don’t have any kiddos right now. We had talked about adding to our family once we got moved, but now we are not so sure as we seem to be coming and going a lot more than we thought we would….even in this difficult time. We don’t have a fenced in yard so we would have to be outside with a little one whenever they are out. For the time being, we just “borrow” my sister’s “Buddy”. He is a rather large dog, but such a lover. He was a former service dog so is very protective of everyone! So glad you little one is a perfect fit for you and your family. Sending Hugs.

    1. Hello Nancee
Buddy sounds adorable! I’d borrow him too.
I totally get where you’re coming from, regarding getting a dog. You’re so busy and so ‘free’ right now, fitting into your new life and enjoying the freedom, having a dog would put a full stop to some of those things, and you really don’t need a full stop! Enjoy your new way of life. Go places. Pick up things like new hobbies or travelling out for a few days, taking fabulous holidays whenever you like – without any worries about having to make arrangements for ‘child care’.

Enjoy everything and every opportunity that has been and will be given to you. This time was meant for you. And .. in the meantime … enjoy Buddy, – no vet bills, no flea treatments, no food bills, no walks on cold winter days. Just love and companionship, F.O.C – (which is my very most favourite price. LOL)

    1. A full house indeed, M.Scrapper, but such a happy one.

Tickled that you like Tilly’s name. She does get called variations of her name, and answers to all of them:
      Twinky Dinks.
      Twinkle Toes.
      Tinker.
Twinkle Twinkle little star (yes, sung- and she comes to it! lol)
… and a variety of other names. But then, we do the same with Hugo – he gets called Hugey Boogey Boogey Boogey mostly. lol.

Thank you so much for coming M.Scrapper. It’s fabulous to see you. ~ Cobs. x

Aww, Ranger sounds like he’s hit the jackpot. I shall look out for him.

I’m so glad you came …. I’m not getting your posts in my Reader, so I’m going to unfollow and then follow you again, in the hope that it kicks in with the system. I tried it on someone elses blog, and it worked, so hopefully it will work with you too.

So … don’t think I’ve gone crazy if you see me unfollow then follow again!
