Start Each Day with a Waggy Tail!

Happy Monday all!

I promised someone last week that the thing I was in the middle of making at that time, would cause a smile.  And I hope that these two handmade cards do that very thing.

Can you imagine receiving a card, out of the blue,  for your Birthday;  to cheer you up;  or just to say ‘hello’,  opening it and finding this funny little dog inside…

That little chap looks like he’s kicking up the grass after he’s had a tinkle, doesn’t he?  LOL!

I took the next photo to give you a side view, so that you could get a true idea of how much the back-end of this little chap stands proud of the card…

And then . . .   well . . .  I just had to make a taller, shaggy coated white dog – which I based upon a ‘Dulux Dog’ – or – an ‘Old English Sheepdog’,  as they’re actually called. . .

The photographs sadly don’t really show the detail of the coats – the ‘shaggyness’ which I’ve sculpted in.  The bodies look far more ‘hairy’ looking in real life – to the natural eye.

And finally . . . a paws for thought . . .

. . .  I forgot to take a shot of their feet, so dashed back to the craft room to take an extra photo. The photograph above shows the pinky feet of the white dog, and you can just about see that the brown woofer has pinky brown feet.  But what the photo doesn’t pick up is that each paw has individual pads – just as a real dog does.  In this case, each pad has one large central pad, and three little smaller pads around the front of the paw.

I think if I were sent one of these cards, for whatever reason, after displaying it as a card should be displayed,  I’d frame it afterwards and hang it on the wall.  It’s way too much fun to go into a drawer!

Now I’m very aware that not everyone is a dog person, so I gave some thought to what Cat people might enjoy . . .  and [whispering]. . .   “shhhh  . . .  something is in the pipeline for those people who love cats!  Coming  very,  very  soon!

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course).       1. Little man is home but he is very yellow (it’s more pronounced than the last time I saw him) Mummy is seeing the health visitor tomorrow to see if he needs to go back to hospital to undergo light therapy, other than that he’s feeding well & often 🙂

        1. Daughter No.1 was quite jaundiced when born, and they told me, in the hospital, to position her, in her fish tank crib, by the window. It was during the summer, so the sky was bright. (Not in direct sunlight- I didn’t want to bake her for lunch. lol). But … it actually helped, and it ended up that she didn’t need to go for the light machine.

          So you might want to tell D.I.L to pop him, in his crib (or whatever he’s currently sleeping in), by the window, where the natural light can help with the jaundice.

          Poor little chap isn’t having the greatest of starts. Keeping him in my prayers, ‘P’.

  5. Hahah, these are brilliant! Shame you the whole ‘smellavision’ and ‘touchavision’ hasn’t been invented so we could get a ‘real’ view of the cards. They look brilliant, and definitely would cheer me up if I received one – amazing! Looking forward to seeing the kittycat version 🙂

      Aw I’m so happy that you like the cards. You’re right … a touchavision would have been great for these. Not sure about the smell one …. I’ve just sniiiiiiffed them and can’t smell anything. But … if there were smellavision …. maybe I could give them a certain aroma. LOL.

      The cat version is well on it’s way. Kitty Cat version will put in an appearance soon on/in a Blog post.

      1. If you could make them those scratch-and-sniff cards that would be amazing – no idea what you’d have them smell of given the theme, though a wet dog smell is pretty distinctive! The loving detail you’ve put into these, like with the paw pads, is incredible. x

      When I came up with the vision for these, I laughed myself – so I figured that if I found them a bit of a giggle, then others would get a smile out of them too.

      The cats version … wait no longer! I scheduled a post to appear on the blog at 3am this morning, so it’s alive and kicking as we speak! (Dontcha love that schedule thing?! Lol)

  18. Oh my dear Cobs, such a bright spot you have put in my day. They really made me chuckle, one I needed so badly. It has been a rough week for my family. My 83 year old mother and her husband’s home caught fire in the wee hours of Saturday morning. We are all so thankful that the both made it out okay. We know some one was watching over them. Since I am their insurance agent I am going to be very busy helping them put their lives back together. And then the same day my oldest brother informed us that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Needless to say we have not told my mother yet. She has enough to handle right now. It is such a bright spot in my day when I can come and spend some time visiting with my blogging friends.

      I’m sat here with heavy heart and totally bewildered that such things should happen to such nice people.

      I’m eternally grateful that your mother and her husband made it to safety, but so distressed when I think about all the memories which were dotted around their home.

      Things like furniture and carpets; kitchen equipment et al …. those things are replaceable, but photographs, gifts from family and friends, from the little things like a drawing from a child, to the big things like jewellery or something belonging to her parents or children …. these are the things which cause the greatest amount of misery and sadness.

      I’m rather relieved to hear that you are their insurance agent, for in knowing this, I feel that her claim will be dealt with swiftly and carefully – which is what it needed for anyone at a time like this. (Not all insurance companies practise this though, I’ve found).

      I am so sorry to hear that your brother has been diagnosed with cancer. I am now praying that this is something that can be treated and that it’s something the medical profession feel can be over-come.
      I shall include him in my prayers, Nancee. I shall include you all.

  19. What a funny idea! I saw the first dog as digging for a bone in the garden, and the second one looks like he’s heard the key in the front door and he’s standing to attention ready to greet his owner with a lick 🙂
