Happy Anniversary – Rock Style!

Today, Mr.Cobs and I have been married 37 years.  Really doesn’t seem that long … but the sprinkling of grey in Mr.Cobs hair, and the ‘God spilt grey all over’ my hair, kind of tells the truth of the matter.

I wondered how many actual days 37 years worked out to be … so I went in search, and found something which gave me not only the answer to that question but answers to a few more too … so I set to work and made a personalised ‘thing’ using photoshop:  …

Happy 37 years Mr.Cobs

Please note that I missed out how many times we’ve given each other one of  *those* looks when we’ve disagreed with each other.  lol.

I handmade just a simple card, I didn’t feel it needed anything complicated.  He’s not really a complicated type of chap.  I wanted to get Little Cobs involved so got him helping me to find tiny little rocks which were flatter than the norm.  We collected a little pot of them, so that I could make a choice of two which kind of matched each other.

Little Cobs kept asking me:  “What are you going to make with them Grammy?” ... and of course I couldn’t tell him, because he’s just useless at keeping secrets, so I told him that I wasn’t entirely certain, but that I would show him when he came for the day on Saturday.37th Wedding Anniversary My Rock

I hand wrote the words, as it just made it all more personal and special.  And yes… he really is my rock.  Even with the bad cough he’s sporting at the moment, he’s still right there.

37th Wedding Anniversary Rock side view
a partial side view – so that you can see that the rock pebbles really aren’t that thick.

The lighting makes it look like I’ve used cream card on top of a black layer, on top of another cream layer, and then attached to a white cut and folded card – but in fact,  all the card – apart from the black card, is snow-white white.  I think that the difference is that the layers of white card are linen card – so it reflects the light in a slightly different way and softens the hardness of the white.  But … to the naked eye, the card really is white.

37 years…  and it doesn’t feel a day too long.  If I had my time over, I’d pick him again, every time.

Thank you so much for coming and sharing a coffee with me and taking a peep at the card.  I love seeing you.  But … you know that anyway 😀

Sending squidges, from me here in my corner, to you there in yours.Coffee Sig

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Happy happy Anniversary to you and Mr. Cobs!!! 37 years and isn’t it wonderful when you can say you would choose him again? And don’t forget to remind Mr. Cobs what a treasure you are Cobs!!
Come fall, Chicken Grandad and I will celebrate 38 years. CGrandad just laughs about his beard as he says, “it used to be salt and pepper colored….now it is mainly salt.”

    1. 38 years in Autumn …. you’re beating us by a season and a bit. 🙂

I really would choose Mr.C every time Chicken, and I bet you’d choose C.Grandad every time too.
I told Himself last week that he’d better take care when he was doing his ‘jobs’ and climbing up and down ladders because I want to make sure I keep him as long as possible. I then followed it up with a laugh, saying …. “and besides – I couldn’t stand to go through all that ‘training your man’ again!” lol.

I know exactly what C.Grandad means about his beard … my hair is heading that way too, and I absolutely refuse to put a colour on it. I hate to see regrowth – even if it’s only a teeny bit. It always makes a gal look just that little bit untidy. So I’ll stick with my very personalised ‘hi-lights’, put there by the greatest hairdresser ever. He knows what He’s doing when it comes to these things, and I’m not about to mess with the process. 😉

Aw … thanks for coming Chicken. LOVE seeing you here, sharing a coffee with me.

    1. Ahhh … well 50 years in days would be 18,250 days. Then you have to add the month – now I cannot add that for you because I don’t know what month, so don’t know how many days that month has. But you can do that bit … but I can add the 8 days to the figure I gave you: 18,250 + 8 days = 18,258 ….. now add the days of the month you’re talking about, and you have the figure for exactly how many days!

        1. Ah haa …. ok then, lets do the maths ….

18,250 + 8 days = 18,258…. plus the 31 days of July, that would bring the total to: 18,289 days! Ta daaaah!

(crumbs …. my one brain cell worked that one out so easily that I had to get Mr.C to double check it! LOLOLOL)

While you’re here …. I’m not getting any notifications in my Reader about your posts … so I’m going to ‘unfollow’ and then ‘follow’ again, to see if that sorts it out. So don’t panic when you see me being apparently weird! LOL
(huh … “apparently” … who am I kidding. I’m weird full stop!)

  2. Happy Anniversary Cobs and Mr Cobs. What a cute card, I love this idea so much I have stashed it away for future use. XX

    1. Aww thank you Barbara.
That’s exactly how I came about this card. I saw two cards on Pinterest – one with dogs made out of an assortment of pebbles, and another with a family of rocks, and I stored it away as an idea for another day.

Those cards popped into my mind when I began to think about what sort of card to make for Himself … I began to think how he’s my rock … and suddenly, the stored away idea came back to mind and so I set about making it happen.

Tickled pink that you yourself liked it enough to store it away as an idea for another time.
Thank you so much for coming and for your lovely comment.
Have a blessed day, my fellow blogging friend.

        1. We’ve actually made a ‘plan’… instead of having us all together today, we decided that we would organise a ‘party’ of sorts …. a kind of posh but not really that posh, Afternoon Tea Party, on the afternoon of 19th of May – which is just over a weeks time – and make it happen after the Royal Wedding (on that day) of Prince Harry and Ms. Megan Markle. It will be an excuse for me to get out the Union Jack Bunting, my cake stands, and make finger sandwiches, cakes and yummy stuff which I know everyone will love. I have a special request from Daughter No. 2, to make my mini quiches – which is something I used to make when she was little and she loves them still to this day.

But today … Mr.C and I are having a thoroughly lovely day doing anything that pleases us and with no appointments which will drag us out of the house – this is a really great day!

            Enjoy your time together.
Wish Mr. Cobs a happy anniversary from me too !

            1. Aw, it will just be us and the family having a throughly good watch of the Royal Family in all their splendour and looking at the Wedding dress, naturally. And then … lots of eating and giggling, laughing and feeling the love in the room.

I can’t see anyone being that interested in us chuffing finger sandwiches, quiches, and cakes. LOL.

Bless you Beverly … love you to pieces. xxx

  4. Happy Anniversary to the Cobs couple. Hope you had a lovely day and did something a wee bit special ❤ My partner Marty and I have never really celebrated. Sad but true. Although we live in separate dwellings we are hoping to live together again once a big enough space can be purchases. 🙂 We do love each other, we are best of friends, we have been a couple for 24 years now!! WOW, where does the time go?
Sunshine here and a lovely breeze is surely a reason to smile. 😀
Look forward to your Friday news.
    hugs

    1. Hello Soozy 😀
      24 years …. you’re catching us up!

As for celebrating … well we used to do the traditional things to celebrate, but the older and wiser we got, the more we realised that we didn’t feel the need to do those things now – so we tend to do something – at a time when we can share it with family, for it’s those times where the greatest amount of joy can be found.

So this year … we decided that we’d hold off on any kind of celebration, and instead, hold a traditional posh Tea Party, on Saturday 19th May – (Saturday next week) – which is the day of the Royal Wedding.

So I’m kind of using that day as an excuse to get out the Union Jack Bunting, and decorate the outside of the cottage with it, and having the family come to have a ‘posh’ Afternoon Tea Party to not just celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, but to also get together for the Royal Wedding too. (Although mind … I don’t think I need an excuse to do an Afternoon Tea Party … I’d have one of those every week if time and energy allowed! lol)

I don’t think it’s sad that you haven’t celebrated the date of your anniversary Soozy. We’re all totally different and we all have our own unique ways of doing things which make us happy. So long as you and your partner Marty are happy, then that’s all that matters. Anyone who thinks differently is of no consequence, for it isn’t their anniversary.
(and if anyone tries to make you feel less than you are for not celebrating, mentally say “Knickers to you!” and smile at them.

If they really annoy you then you tell us blogging friends and we’ll soon sort em out! lol.

Good to hear that you have sunshine there. It’s been lovely here too, today.

Thanks for coming Soozie, and for the lovely message. I just love chatting with you.
Have a blessed rest of your day. Love ~ Cobs. xxx

It takes special people to ‘stick together whatever the weather’ but we already know you’re a special lady and Mr Cobs must be a very special man too! Have a wonderful evening. Hugs 🙂 x

    1. Aww Bless your beautiful heart, Nancee, and thank you my lovely blogging friend, for your good wishes.

40 years for yourselves …. that’s just wonderful!!

In todays split ups, divorces and couldn’t care less attitudes towards marriage, our long marriages are looked on as if we’ve achieved the impossible. And yet … it’s just a case of working through each patch of whatever comes along, and making the best of every situation. We don’t give in or give up. We work out how to get through it. And I (and I bet you) love that way of supporting each other through thick and thin.

Thank you so much for your good wishes, and for coming. I look forward to seeing your post in October for the card you’ve made ‘Mr.Nancee’.

    1. Aw I know that feeling Tom. Sometimes it’s just easier to say ‘fudge to it’ and begin on the day you’re here. Don’t sweat it. Everyone knows that you had some time off, so none of us expect you to visit every post that we’ve made, because that alone can be exhausting, and the last thing you want in this hot, hot, hot weather is ‘exhausting’!
Don’t stress over it sweetness. We all care about you and would hate you to feel snowed under.
