I’m baa-a-ack!

Hello!  😀

The missing crafter known as Cobs has been found!

Most of you know, but just in case you, dear reader, don’t:  I’ve been having my craft room painted, and having new shelving and storage in there so that I could get myself more organised.  Ha!  More ORGANISED.  That’s a joke.

I don’t know where anything is any more!  Things had a place where they lived and I could (kind of, mostly) find them.  But now . . .  I can’t find anything.  Everything is in a new place!  So to help the situation I’ve put little sticky notes with various things written on them and fix them on door cupboards and drawers,  and on various different bits of papers/acetate/card, etc, so that I give myself a fighting chance to find things again.  There’s still some stuff under my sewing desk – but it’s nothing of major importance so it can wait a little while.  But there are some boxes stuff on the sewing desk, and I need to finish doing those over the weekend….  in between real life getting in the way – like it does.   tsk tsk.

Well … while I’ve been getting on with getting on ….  Spring jumped into the mix and ohhh how wondrous it’s made everything here where I am in the South of England.  There are now Bluebells flowering in my garden, along with Primulas, Grape Hyacinth, and even my mums Poppies have pushed through the soil and are warming their new leaves and little stems in the wonderful sunshine we’ve had going on.  Everything has felt so happy and sea-sidey.

I’ve driven past the bay and along the Harbour side many times over the past couple of weeks, and as I gazed out over the ocean, I swear that someone had sprinkled diamond dust over it for it was twinkling and sparkling like no diamond ring could ever achieve.  I so wanted to stop and park, just so that I could enjoy the feeling of deep peace which comes over me when I sit and keep the ocean company.   I’ve booked myself an appointment to keep the Ocean company over this weekend.  I’ll take some coffee and just sit quietly with it, while it talks to me, in its low, gentle shhhhushing sounds, and I listen to its wisdom and calming voice.  It’s the most incredible, peace giving feeling, and I highly recommend it.

Anyhoo . . .   I couldn’t come to chat and then leave without sharing a smile or two with you, so …  get your chuckle muscle ready – we’re going to give it a workout!

These are the Jokes Folks!

A lorry-load of tortoises crashed into a trainload of terrapins,  and I thought,  ‘That’s a turtle disaster.’

If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?

I stopped buying women’s magazines. The only time I ever see someone who looks like me is under the word  ‘Before’.

My New Year’s resolution was to get in shape. I choose round.  So far it’s going really well!

I found a new way to know if you’ve put weight on. There’s a car park near me which has a barrier that goes up when it senses a car is near.  I was carrying two bags of shopping, and …

Old ladies in wheelchairs with blankets over their legs?  I don’t think so! …  I believe they’re retired mermaids.

The worst job I ever had was as a forensicologist for the United Nations. One time I thought I’d come across the mass grave of a thousand snowmen, but it turns out it was just a field of carrots.

I was walking along the other day and on the pavement I saw a white baby ghost; however, come to think of it, it may have been a tissue.

A lot of people like cats. Take the Pope, for example:  I read that he was a cat-oholic!

My mother made us eat all sorts of vitamins and supplements, until one day I nearly choked on part of The Sunday Times.

As a child I watched Mary Poppins so many times I suffered from a condition with my sight.  Umdiddleiddleiddleumdiddle Eye.

 . . .   and finally  . . .

I had a dream last night that I was cutting carrots with the Grim Reaper.  Dicing with death.

Before I go ..  I have bit of mind-blowingly exciting news that I’m bubbling over about, and which I’ve known about for about 3 weeks, but didn’t know how to go about sharing this news as I didn’t want anyone to think I was showing off or anything like that.

Bloggers Award Nominations

I’ve been nominated for an award in the WordPress Annual Bloggers Bash Awards 2018!  This news made me so, so happy that I sat here and blubbered (cried) about it.

Now I live under no delusions of winning there are a lot of other blogs nominated in my category who are far worthier than my little bit of the World Wide Web – but to be nominated — Ohh my goodness!  That alone is the most incredible, magical thing to me.  Such an honour and so unbelievably wonderful to see my name there amongst all those others – aw heck, –  I could cry all over again just telling you about it.

I’ll give you a link to the page on WordPress so that you can read about the awards for yourself. (Voting closes at midnight on April 30th (BST)).  If you want to see my name there, scroll down to the category of:  MOST INFORMATIVE (Original Content) Blogger – and you’ll find my name in the box under the explanation of what this category is about.

LINK TO LIST OF NOMINATIONS – click here:  https://sachablack.co.uk/2018/04/06/voting-is-now-open-for-the-annual-bloggers-bash-awards-bloggersbash/

Please know that I’m not asking you to vote for me – I wouldn’t ever do that.  The joy of seeing my name amongst all those others is mind-blowing.  I have no pipe dreams about winning.  I don’t ‘do’ Facebook or any of the social media things like that – and no one in my family reads my blog, except for the lovely Mr.Cobs (bless him), so I have no ‘in family’ or friend supporters, but hey,  that doesn’t matter ….  I WAS NOMINATED!  And that alone means more to me than you could ever imagine.

Thank you to the lovely fellow blogger who put my name forward.  I am touched to the heart of me and filled with thanks for your kindness.  Bless you.  I think I know who this is, but I won’t embarrass them by naming them here.

So . . .  that’s me, back in the saddle again.  Now I know that trying to catch up with everyone’s  blog posts I’ve missed reading is going to be a task on the impossible scale, so what I’m planning to do is pick up from today.  However . . .  if there is a post that I’ve missed over the past couple of weeks, which you were hoping for me to see, or comment on, then please leave a link to it in a comment below and I’ll go straight to it and have a peep.

What have you been up to?  Been anywhere?  Seen something?  Created anything?  Do share!

Until we talk – and I hope we do talk …  may your day be bright.  May your smiles be brighter.  And may your life be filled with contentment.  If it’s not … make it so!

Sending you much love and squidges  ~

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Hooray! Glad you’re back and thrilled about your nomination…well deserved! 😘 I’m glad you’re not too organized, it would be unnatural and make the rest of us feel inferior 😉 what you said about the sea made my heart leap…I feel EXACTLY the same! 😍 I’m sure you’ve seen my fave spot on my cover photos looking over hill and wave (often with the mutt in shot) lovely to hear from you. God bless and squidges 😚😚😚😚

    1. Aww, hello Anna, and coo… what a welcome! I feel all squishy and wriggly now. 🙂

I don’t think I’ll ever be truly organised. I like to change things around too much – but I do strive for my own brand of organised – which does make sense once it’s explained. lol.

Glad you get those same feelings about the Ocean. There’s something that I connect with and it brings me such inner peace and tranquillity. I’m so blessed to live where I do.

Thanks for coming Anna. It’s lovely to see you.

You were nominated? Well my goodness, I didn’t see your name there… I’m going back to find the category you’re in and vote for you straight away! And … even if you don’t win, please know that in my heart and head, you’re the TOPS as far as I’m concerned.

Aw I don’t mind one bit about not winning. Just being nominated really does mean the world to me. Such a huge honour and blessing.

Very good luck with your own nomination. You really do deserve to win.

  2. Yea!!! How could you not . We all know your blog is the best because you are the best of best. I can’t wait to cast my vote.
Now…about all that organization. Surely you have a P-Touch or Dymo ( cheap from WalMart). All those sticky notes fall off in my craft room and then I don’t remember where they go so I broke down and started to use the Dymo. Now if I can just remember where I put the tape refill.. Hehe
I am so glad you are back in circulation.
This has been a week from hell but I’ll blog all about it later . Still .trying to get my wits about . Love that you are here. xoxo

    1. Hello my beautiful friend! 😀
I actually do have a Dymo …. but until you reminded me about it I’d forgotten I had it. LOL. I’ve been and looked in the drawer where I keep it and TA DAHHHHH! There it was!

So, Miss Organisation 2018, every time a paper sticky label falls off, I’ll replace it with a Dymo Label. 😀

(We’re both like two peas in a pod … I forgot I had a Dymo, and you remembered you’d got one, but can’t remember where you’ve put the tape refill. LOLOLOL!)

Aw heck, “a week from hell”?!! I’ll wait and read about it on your blog.

In the meantime .. chin up. Look to the Chimneys. It actually works. I’ve tried it.

Well …. today was like one big bl**dy shower all day long. It stopped, It started. It stopped. It started. It was obviously trying to call me a great big fibber for saying how lovely the weather had been! tsk tsk.

Thank you for the lovely hug, and for the vote! Bless your beautiful heart.

  4. Welcome back! Sounds like quite a bit of change with the new craft room redecorating, how exciting! It does bug me though with ‘getting more organised’ and giving everything a proper place because for ages afterwards I can’t find anything I’m looking for either! Huge congrats on the well-deserved nomination, you should be very proud!!
Have a lovely weekend Cobs xx

It’s great to be back … and yes, a bit of a change in the craft room, and just like you – I’m absolutely certain that the next 6 weeks will be me, sitting on my chair, spinning around and around, reading all the labels I’ve written, trying to find where I’ve put my colouring pens, or my watercolour paints! lol.

Ah well … if you change your craft room around, at least we could do that eternal search together. lol.

Thank you for your good wishes on the nomination. I’m so honoured to be nominated for such a fabulous award. Just to be thought of as good enough to be nominated is such a heart stopper. I got terribly emotional about it. (soppy old girl here. lol)

Winning – or rather not winning, really doesn’t trouble me at all, it’s just the fact that someone went to the trouble of nominating me and those in charge of things felt it right to include me. So, SO honoured, and so very humbling.

I knew you’d like the jokes. Your inner child is always waiting for a bit of fun, so I know the jokes bring joy. (Ha! I’ve just had a funny thought … we should christen your inner child ‘Joy’. It would suit her!)

The Nomination!!! Ohhh isn’t that the most incredible thing!?! Being nominated is seriously HUGE to me. Winning isn’t something that I even consider – I don’t know enough people for that – but it really doesn’t matter to me. The fact that someone cares enough to even nominate me is something which causes a lump in my throat and makes my eyes get all teary.
I got into a right old mess when I saw my name there. Sat here blubbering and getting all snotty nosed. Mr. Cobs loved it. He had a good old giggle at me blubbering over something lovely, then (eventually) gave me a cuddle and the box of tissues. (sigh – men, eh?!)

  12. First off, congrats on your nomination!!! You got this! 🙂
A newly painted room is always so nice! It gives me a new outlook on things, fresh and clean! As I have said before Cobs, you are so fortunate to have a room dedicated to crafting. 😉
We have been “off” for over a week now. I, with a head cold that is just misery. No desire to do anything! I have just started picking up my knitting again.
My 14 year old Boston Stan was beginning to fail and I was getting very sad and thought that there has to be something that bloodwork could find and we could get him on the road to recovery. Well I am happy to announce that Stan has a diagnosis! Not that I am happy about him being “ill” but at least this can be managed. He has diabetes and pancreatitis! I was floored when my vet said pancreatitis, as they are all on a pretty good diet, but not good enough. So he is getting a shot of 5units twice a day and low fat diet, or the best we can do to help his little pancreas 🙂 I am pretty good at giving shots as I used to give myself a shot once a week, so needles don’t bother me. I am thankful that we found out what was wrong, he was wasting away and getting me up every hour during the night, so sleep was not easily come by. 😦
Things are going well now, Stan’s good, the Chihuahua’s are good, we have sunny weather coming now more and more.
Thanks for listening Cobs and congrats again on both the craft room and the nomination. 🙂 Remember you got this.
    hugs from me

    1. Ohhhh Soozy!! I’m glad that they finally found out what was wrong with Stan. I’ve been thinking about him regularly, but didn’t like to bring him up as … well, I wasn’t sure if perhaps something had occurred and you’d lost him. He was so poorly. Thank heavens that they’ve found out what the problem was and he’s now on the road to better health. Thank you God.

It’s wonderful to ‘see’ you in such grand spirits Soozy, and with such lovely news. I know it’s not lovely in the sense that Stan really does have a couple of serious problems going on – but good in the way that they can both be ‘managed’, and by doing so, you get to keep Stan for a while longer than you feared. Lovely news.

Thank you so much for coming Soozy, and for the kind words on the nomination. Bless your beautiful heart.
Sending you much love and squidges, and a bucket of special tickles behind the ears, and squiffles, especially for Stan.

I’m so glad that it’s not too late to vote for you and I so hope you win, but like you say, it is such an honour to be nominated at all. So, will you have to put on your glad rags and heels and attend this prestigious event if your name comes up in the final 3? Ooh, how exciting. 1. Hello Sharon. Aw, thank you very much for you kind words.
Being Nominated is such a huge honour.
As for going to the awards ceremony if my name comes up in the final three …. lol, well, I don’t know enough people for that to happen Sharon – and I don’t ‘do’ Facebook (or any off those types of social networking things) so there’s very little chance of me winning – but, it really isn’t about winning anything. It’s that someone likes me enough to actually go to all the trouble of writing and putting my name forward. Such a mind blowing thing for someone to do, for me!, and my heart cannot contain the amount of pure joy I felt when I read my name in the nominations list. I have given thanks over and over.

      Re: The Ocean:
Sitting with the Ocean and listening to it’s gentle ‘shusshing’ – it’s one of the great things in life. I’m so blessed to live by the Ocean and be able to visit it whenever I like. It has a way of cleansing those things within you which trouble you. God knew exactly what He was doing when He created the Seas. It re-invigorates you – but gently.

I hope that you yourself get to visit the ocean very soon, Sharon. The Summer will be with us soon, so maybe a few days away could be on the horizon for you all.

      1. Thanks Cobs, yes I’m sure I will get the chance to go some time. I like sitting on Brighton beach and writing encouraging messages on the pebbles then hiding them and wondering who will find it. 🙂

I don’t blame you for not going to the ceremony. It seems to be located in an obscure place and as you say, who will you interact with once there? Plus it’s nice to stay incognito and just love people from afar. Also, it is not organised by WordPress. But yes, it is lovely to be nominated and I am so excited seeing all those nominees because it means they have fantastic blogs and there are so many more blogs for me to read. I hope it doesn’t ruin any of them by making it ‘go to their heads’ but that it encourages them to continue writing. I love the large amount of categories that there are on here. Sometimes I go onto the cooking sites, other times, flower photography, then parenting & children, autism & Aspergers, crafting, christianity, atheism, loneliness, gardening, beauty, animals and of course my current favourite, depression 🙂 Seems odd to add a smiley there, but I just love chatting to those who are feeling so down in the dumps and trying to lift their spirits a little . (Hopefully I don’t make them worse!) Big hugs to you xxx

  15. Congratulations on your nomination Cobs. Most deserved I must say. I was silly enough to miss the deadline (dare I say “My bad”) – no forget I said that, I hate it. Looking forward to seeing some of your wonderful creations now that you have your room back (I won’t say in order because clearly that has not be the object of the exercise). Enjoy. XX

    1. I’ve come to the conclusion that ‘in order’ doesn’t exist – at least, not in my craft room. It seems to be a movable feast, depending on what sort of crafting I’m pulled towards at *that* time. Ahh, but it kind of works for me. 🙂

I’ve finally begun a bit of crafting. Not finished yet, so can’t share it, but hoping to finish it by the end of the week. (Still some painting and a map purchase required to finish it off).

The nomination – ohhh, Im totally tickled in all the colours of the rainbow, Barbara. So filled with joy bubbles when I saw my name on the list of nominations. There’s no chance of me winning because I don’t know enough people for that bit of magic to happen – but it really doesn’t matter one bit. I was nominated – and that’s where the magical, mind blowing, heart racing joy lies for me. What an honour!
So humbling. Someone likes me enough to go to the trouble of nominating me?! Can’t get anymore magical than that.

Thank you so much for coming Barbara, and for the lovely comment. 😀

  16. Oh my Cobs! Congrats to you on your nomination! I saw it (I thought just a day or two ago, but my time has passed so quickly!) but didn’t have time to check out the nominations when I read your post. In the blink of an eye, almost a week has passed! Oh my! You always have such great posts, filled with information, and always a chuckle or two! 🙂

    1. Aww hello John. So, so lovely to see you.
I’m thrilled to have found your level, and knowing that it’s at the same level as mine is a double whammy! lol.

Thanks for coming, and for letting me know that I managed a ‘Heineken’ moment – I refreshed the parts that other jokes cannot reach. 😀
