Let’s have coffee …

I have the following quote printed it out and keep it below my computer screen in my craft room… …

We are all cups,  constantly and quietly being filled.  The trick,  is knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the Beautiful Stuff out.”

isn’t it lovely?  . . .  It’s by a gentleman called Ray Bradbury, an American author and screen writer, and I just love it.  And today came the perfect chance to share it with you because …

I’m forever inviting you to come and have a coffee with me, so when I saw last week that ‘Kanban Cards’ had brought out a fabulous new collection of die- cuts, papers and cardstock, I had to have some of it.  It would have been so rude not to!

To be honest, I fell in love with it.  The colours are just beautiful.  The quality is really great and it gives you such scope to play around with.

I made a card today using some of it and as I was making it I thought …  “it’s AGES since I’ve done a ‘giveaway’, so perhaps this would make an ideal card for that very thing!”

We are Cups 7

I made the card as a 12″x 6″ – so quite a long card.  On a base card of white, scored and folded, and then topped with a sheet of Kanban foiled heavy weight paper.   I added some wide, Satin, pale coffee coloured ribbon, topped with some deep brown seam binding.

We are Cups 3

On top of the ribbons,  I used two toppers and a sentiment from the kit.  The coffee cup topper I layered on top of a vintage looking doily, made from cotton, with cotton crochet lace all around the edge.  I bought a pack of these little doilies from a pound shop about 8 years ago and originally bought them to make little pouches of dried lavender.  I still have a few unused ones left.

We are Cups 4

The duo coloured bow (to the right hand)  has a dazzler fixed to the centre to bring a touch of sparkle and colour to the card.  If you look carefully under the bow, but above the satin/seam binding ribbons, you can just see a golden circle of leaves and vines.  This is a chipboard die cut, which I coloured up with gold embossing pad and then a combination of gold emboss. powder and gold glittery embossing powder.

We are Cups 5

The spoon …  well that began life as one of those plastic spoons they give you in coffee shops or Mc.Donalds.  I never use the spoons, but keep them with the thought that they might come in useful. And look!  One did!  🙂

We are Cups 2

Finally … inside.  One of my sheep (craft room buddies) wanted to show you what was inside…  I told him:  “No, absolutely not.  Get out of there you rascal!”. . .

We are Cups 1

He seemed determined, as he backed himself into the middle of the card.  I knew what he was up to.  He was going to give one great big JUMP and open the card to show you what was inside, but I wanted to keep it a secret known only to the person who won the give-away  . . .   so I chased him around the craft room, caught him, and he’s now safely back where he belongs … under my craft room computer monitor, with the rest of the flock.  tsk, tsk!

So anyhoo ….  If you’re a follower of The Cobweborium Emporium blog,  and would like to have your name ‘thrown into the hat’ and be in with a chance of receiving this card then please just leave a comment below with the word: GIVEAWAY’  – either at the start or the end of your comment.

To make sure that all is fair,  I’ll get the Random Number Generator to choose the number.

If you’re the winner then you have a choice:-  You can choose to have the card for yourself, in which case I’ll write the card to you, sign it and send it with love. Or …  you can choose to receive the card un-written, so that you can write it and send it to someone else.

But … If you don’t want to enter but still want to leave a comment or have a  chat,  then that’s fine too.  You really don’t have to get involved in a give-away.  Any comment which doesn’t have the word ‘GIVEAWAY’ won’t be entered.

NB:  Please  DON’T  put your real name or address in the comments box.  I need to look after your privacy and security.

Happy Thursday, by the way!

We’re heading to the end of October now, after this it’s just a walk to Christmas, and although I have got a few Christmas Presents tucked away …  it’s only a few and I really do need to get a wiggle on with the buying.  I don’t want to be left with only the stuff the shops have left over!

I also have to get a very BIG wiggle on with making Christmas Cards!  Maybe I’ll start in a couple of weeks time and cross my fingers.  It worked last year.  And the year before.  And the year before that too.  Need I go on or are you getting the idea?  lol.

Right … I really must stop yacking and let you get on with your day.

I wish you a blessed, calm, comfortable, happy Thursday!

We are Cups 8

(I saved that last photo from this card,  just so I could use that right there … )  😀  Toodles!

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

    1. You did comment Chicken! I set the blog up to approve comments before they went live on the blog in order to catch any spam or bad comments (filled with swear words or links to dangerous places), and so enable me to delete those before they saw the light of day.

Sadly this means that if you comment while I’m fast asleep in bed, or out doing something terribly exciting, like (yawn) shopping for food (yawn), then you don’t see the comment until I’m out of bed, or home again. Sorry about that … but I’d rather catch the baduns before they were on the blog offending people.

(I had one on Monday this week which gave a link to a thoroughly nasty porn sight! I didn’t click the link, but just by the name of it I could tell that it was very ‘unsavoury’)

      I’ve included you in the draw. 😀 ~ C.xxx

The quick answer is an easy one: it’s lightweight paper & glue! That’s it. Simple eh? lol.

I love the colours of these papers, and yes you’re right – earthy and autumnal. My favouite colours to work with.

    1. Hello Lil.
Thank you for the lovely comment. I’m over-joyed that you like the card. Bless your heart.

I can’t lay claim to any creativity. These things just seem to make themselves. Resources ….well, I’ve been ‘proper’ crafting for donkeys years – probably around 30 years – so over that time I’ve built up stash of things. It’s because when you buy something, you might only want two of those things, but they come in a pack of ten or 20, so a crafter ends up with a stash of those and other items. I do give away things and share them with other crafters, but I alway keep a few things back for me – ‘just in case’.

Thank you so much for coming Lil. Do you have a Blog yourself Lil? I can click on your name, but it comes up with a message saying it can’t load the page. If you do have a blog, do share the name of it with me, and I can come and visit you too!

      Have a blessed day! ~ Cobs. 😀

  10. GIVEAWAY – I would love to have a card from you. I would love that you write inside 🙂 Love the sheep too. I do love my fiber whether it be roving for felting, or yarn for knitting. Love all of it. Stashes of yarn everywhere!
I am addicted to knitting and I do know there could be worse things. I do love my coffee beans but I like tea in the afternoons.
Lovely afternoon here in Victoria, BC. Sunshine and more coming so I am going to hopefully get to digging over the garden and or pruning some lilac trees.
    Enjoy your tomorrow.

    1. Ohhh Soozy, how elegant you are. Coffee in the morning, and Tea in the afternoon. The height of elegance!

I like felting – and use wool tops. Can’t crochet. I’ve tried. Can knit – but only if you want a scarf. I can’t ‘bend it round corners’ – so socks and cardigans are out of the question.

It’s been a nice day here in the South of England too. Hoping Friday will be the same.

I’ll pop you into the hat. Very good luck.

It’s little things – like Coffee in the morning, and afternoon Tea. It’s so elegant and refined.
Are you sure you’re 100% American, and not a little bit British? Coffee in the morning, and afternoon Tea are a very British thing! lol
