A special Thank You [Tag] Card

My last post told you about how a bad week was turned about by a token of incredible wonderfulness from an amazing fellow blogger, Mrs.Craft.  (If you missed the post you can find it HEREit will open in another window for you).

I wanted to make something to say ‘Thank You’but something a bit different from just a normal thank you card.  I’d been working on an idea of making a post about Tag Art,  and suddenly a little Fairy sparkle of an idea grabbed me and spurred me on to make a Tag Art card for Mrs.Craft.  But I needed a theme.  hmmmm

Something popped into my mind.  Mrs.Craft is the maker of some extraordinary show stopping slippers….  knitted slippers.  BUT STOP…  don’t think of ‘knitted slippers’, instead think Fairy Boots.

Mrs. Craft calls her creations Crocodile stitch slippersWhat kind of name is that for something which belongs in the land of the Fairies??  It says nothing about the absolute fabulousness of those magical slippers.   I mean to say … look at these Boots …

Every time Mrs.Craft posted about her ‘Crocodile stitch Boots’, I told her in a comment that she really should consider calling them something more wonderful.  Fairy Boots.  Unicorn Rider Boots.  Elfin Creepers.  That sort of thing.  Of course … Green creations could be called Crocodile Creepers.  But not these fantastical wonders!

When I was a child I can remember not wanting to wear my slippers which my mom had bought me.  But had they been given a magical name such as ‘Samantha’s Slippers’ or ‘Bewitched bootees’  (both after the TV series Bewitched – which I adored to as a child),  then I doubt very much that you’d have ever got them off my feet!

So with a nod to the Fairy vibe  I decided to theme the Thank You Tag card around Fairy Land, and I share the resulting card with you here…

(. . . and to borrow the words of Willy Wonka himself . . .)

“Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination . . .”

Admit one to Wonderland a
A Card for Mrs. Craft

The large red balloon was made by cutting out the same shape over and over, and then glueing them to each other so that the ‘half round’ shape for the balloon was achieved.

3 Admit one to Wonderland - Balloon

Oooo, yes please …  ‘Admit One to Wonderland’   I’m all for that!

….and … of course, there had to be Fairy Dust, after all …  we were in Wonderland!

2 Admit one to Wonderland - Fairy Dust

What better place to allow your thoughts to take flight than when you’re DREAMING!

4 Admit one to Wonderland - Book Mark

The Scroll on the front, to the right of the balloon reads:  “How does one become a butterfly?”  she asked.  “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a CATERPILLAR”.

Admit one to Wonderland - Poster

All the butterflies you see on the front are hand-made from card, but with a mix of embossing powders on them, and heated over and over, in order to make them look enamelled.  There are a couple of hidden ‘smiles’ on the front of the card, but I couldn’t photograph those as they were tucked away and pretty impossible to try to get a photo of.

Shall we go inside?

5 Admit one to Wonderland inside
A peep into the middle…

6 Admit one to Wonderland

The centre is a tad less decorated … because wellone has to have a place to write!  But it still has charm …

10 Admit one to Wonderland - Book Mark2

The ‘DREAM’ which you saw peeping over the top of the front of the card is actually a Bookmark which I made specially for Mrs.Craft, for this card.  It simply slides off the top of the card, and can be used as a regular bookmark.

On one side of the inner card there is a ‘scroll’ which reads…

7 Admit one to Wonderland - In order to enter

…  and it continues on the other page of the card, and tells you exactly what you need to enter the Land of the Fae…

8 Admit one to Wonderland - One must come with the right Key

OF COURSE!! … one must come with the right KEY  …  now why didn’t I think of that?!   So …  where do we get the right key from???

9 Admit one to Wonderland - key

…  look closely.  ‘The Right Key’ is there … suspended on a cobweb thread, inside a tiny glass bottle, which has been sealed closed and dusted with Fairy Dust.  The glass bottle is hung inside the card, on a length of woven Unicorn Mane Hair. (or something like that).

Admit one to Wonderland 4

… And of course … no one would expect that a Tag Art card,  made with the help of a Fairy who was sat on my shoulder, would have a plain ol’ boring back.  Nooooo.  Mrs. Craft deserved the full works …  and the Fairy whispered into my ear and told me I was to tell her this …

11 Admit one to Wonderland Your Wings Exist Fly

“Your Wings exist  . . . FLY!”  …. so, Mrs.Craft,  I know you’re reading this, and I wanted to tell you that the Fairy who was sat on my shoulder told me to tell you that your wings really do exist.  Don’t be afraid to fly.  (But I don’t think she meant jump off a ledge and fly…  not that sort of flying.  I think she meant that you can do anything you put your mind to.  And … I agree with her.  I think you can too.   So then…. ETSY shop here you come!).  😜

Thank you again Mrs.C for the wonderful gifts.  You won’t ever know how much your kindness  meant  means to me.  Bless your beautiful heart.

Edit to add:  Mrs.Craft has (a few hours before I did) made a blog post about this card and the fabulous Chutney which she had made and sent me a jar of.  If you’d like to read her post too, you can do  HERE   <— click to be taken to Mrs.Crafts blog post.

And now you …. no, not Mrs. Craft, but you...  you reading right now …  I want to do a post about Tag Art.  So … we’ll do that in a few days.  You see a little while back …  I introduced some folks to working in ATC size – which I was thrilled to pieces about.  Seriously so.  But … I kind of would love to also introduce those folks to TAG ART too.  It’s another fabulous way to craft, and really very easy.  So … that post will come in a few days. I promise. [holds pinky finger up]

Thank you so much for coming.  I love seeing you here and love even more when I get to chat with you, so please say hello in a comment.  Tell me what’s going on.  How you are.  How your cat/dog/bird/children/boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/parent(s) are.  Failing that … tell me your current guilty secret.  Have you bought something you shouldn’t?  Or planning to?  Do tell.  I love the juicy bits!  😎

I hope your Thursday is a truly lovely day.  Please …  Do something which makes someone else smile.  Pull a face.  Cross your eyes and pull your tongue out.  Just make someone smile.  It might just make their whole day into something worth being alive for.

A smile is a magical gift.  Use it.  LOTS.   It never runs out.

Sending oodles of squidges to you ~

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

So happy you like the card.
I think she does like it … she’s made a blog post about it just a few hours before mine went live. LOL. We obviously have a close and psychic bond. (Or is it a close and psychotic bond? lol)

I just knew that you’d love Bewitched!! And yes, with your name, you simply HAD to. lol

I don’t have to twitch my nose to get more coffee in my cup… Mr.C is acting as servant today and he’s just filled my cup for me. Ahh… don’t you love staff. LOLOLOL (He’ll giggle when he sees this comment. lol).

    1. Hello Wonderful Ruthie.
Yes … two Mrs.C’s. I told her … two peas in a pod. LOL.

Mrs.Crafts boots are AHHH MAAAZE INGGG! aren’t they?!
Although I’m not a proper knitter, I can see that those magical boots must take ages to make. So much dedication to the job.

Thanks for coming Ruthie, you know I love to see you here.
Have a blessed rest of your day my beautiful friend.

    1. Hello lovely Beverly!
      Happy Thursday, my fabulous friend.
Aw, I’m thrilled to pieces that you like the card.
My imagination is stuck at 7 years old.
My creativity … I have no idea where that comes from, well, no, I do … and I give thanks for it. 😉

Ooo… White Feathers… yes, I’m very much a believer – but then you know that, and you know why.

Sending you heaps of love … and there will be a little thing going into the post, addressed to you, tomorrow … would have been today but it’s bucketing down with rain so tomorrow it will be.
Sending love and squidges, from me in my corner to you in yours ~ Cobs. xxx 🌷🌷🌷

      1. We could use a little of that bucketing. Funny how it rains all around but not here. Weather is a strange thing we have to deal with. Well…I’m off to shop for Mother …again.

        1. Ahh Mothers. All those little things which would peeve me that my mother had a knack of pulling out of an invisible hat … are now things which I adore and treasure and I’d do them a hundred times if I could just spend another hour with her.

Sadly … I’ve parcelled up your package. But if I hadn’t rest assured that I’d have tried my best to get some ‘bucketing’ in there. (Although mind there wasn’t much room left! lol).

Sending squidges and hoping for rain for you.

          1. I’ll be waiting in the swing on the front porch.
Tomorrow is setting day. Two of the little girls so Momma can go to the Sweet-Pea sale(once owned children’s things) and again in the evening because Momma has to work a table at the football game..You would think being only three weeks from baby number 6 someone else could do the table. Me thinks…someone can’t say NO. and Daddy doesn’t want to chase toddlers all over the field. lol

Oh … PS .. Package wrapped up with parcel tape, in the post at 9.30is this morning (Friday morn). I’m hoping that it get’s there next week.

But you’ll never guess what they told me at the post office.
Apparently … the last post for Christmas post going to the USA from the UK is …… in three weeks time. So 12/13th of October.

I nearly fell over when she said it. Two and a half months??? A pigeon could get there faster!
          Huffle puffle bibble bobble. Hffftph!

  4. Lovely tag card! Love all the details, the butterflies, the “dream” clip. The bottle with a special key. This one is lovely Cobs! Great thank you “gift” for someone special 🙂
I do hope your week has improved. The sun is shining here and I am getting out for my little stroll with the ol’ dog Stan.
    Hugs and unicorn rainbows.

    1. Aww, thank you Rabbit.
Yes, I need to make chutney too. Mrs. Craft has awoken something in me which was laying dorment. lol

Bewitched .. the BEST childrens programme in the whole world. They repeated it a little while ago and I sat and watched it all over again, and with each moment, I became younger and younger until I was back to being the child I was. Fabulous programme.

  5. I’m so sorry I must have dreamed that I commented on this Lol! Anyway, your photos show the card so beautifully, I adore it and it is still on the mantlepiece. I’m fiercely defending the fairy dust from the children, who want to know if it will make a fairy come through their fairy door. I said fairies will only come of they tidy their room, the fairies take a peek through the door and run away when they see the pigsty my children call a room 😂😂 Anyway, it’s beautiful and I am lucky to be able to call it mine. Have a lovely weekend x x

    1. To tell you the truth I hadn’t even noticed Mrs.C. LOL. I think because you yourself had made a blog post about it, in my head that was your comment … so I honestly truthfully never even noticed! Ha!

I’m tickled pink to hear that the children are egging you to open the Fairy Dust bottle. You tell them that that bottle is sealed shut so that no rascal with mischief on his/her mind can cast a spell for anything naughty!

Thrilled you like it Mrs.C. … I just wanted to say thank you to someone who made my day and turned my week around.

      1. Lol, there’ll be no fairy dust at all opened here. Madam opened a jar of ‘bravery dust’ from a back to school gift and got it in her bed! I’ll have grey hair if she carries on. X

        1. LOL … welcome to my world
ahhh, it doesn’t last forever, but the next stage is a bi£&h. Teenagers are something put on earth in order to ensure that parents really do go grey and lose at least 50% of their functioning brain cells.

If you’re lucky, it should end at around 21 years of age, when there will be (should be) a four to six month changing time, where you won’t be sure if something is going on that you don’t know about and should, this will simply be the ‘calm down’ and that’s when they become much more friendly.

When they get there (teenage years) you have to remind yourself that whatever it is which is trying your patience and sending you mental: It’s NOT YOUR FAULT.

Say that over and over to yourself every time you feel yourself about to say “where did I go wrong?”. You didn’t. You’re a great mum Mrs. C. All that’s happened is that they’ve had a fresh delivery of hormones during the night and the fresh hormones are horrible little bu$$ers. Vicious little monsters.
Sending you heaps of love and squidges, from one mum to another ~ Cobs. xxx

          1. Thank you, I’m dreading them being big and not needing me any more. The days are hard sometimes but at night I always have to give the chubby little faces and hands an extra kiss when I go to bed. I just hope I do a good enough job to have two lovely adults to be around when they grow up. X x

  6. What intricate, detailed, beautiful miniature items you create. A person could look and look and still be likely to miss some delicious bit. Also, I’m thinking you must have excellent eyesight and eye-hand coordination to create these little marvels, my friend.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I try as hard as I can to always put in a surprise find somewhere or other. Just so that it gives the recipient a bit of joy which they didn’t initially see.

The eyesight … lol … not as good as you might think. But unfortunately the eye-hand coordination … well that is a problem. I have a medical problem which causes me to have some neurological sillyness, and one of the problems it causes are shakey hands. The doctor calls them ‘Task Tremours’. They’re a pain in the you know what. Unfortunately those have increased over the years and put a stop to me doing many things.

But we’ve all got things which we have to work with, to make things work as best one can, and that’s what I do. The biggest down side is that things take me so much longer to do, and that frustrates me. But … this is my rock and I shall continue to continue until I can’t continue any longer. Giving in isn’t an option. 😉 At least … not to me. I might have had to give up some things which I’d rather not had to, but we’ve all had to do that at some point or other.
No point in being miserable about it. Life is life, get on with it and enjoy it in any way you can.
Sending squidges to you Aunt Beulah.

Well now let’s have a chat. How are you doing, lovely Cobs? I’m still doing battle with a throat virus and waiting for physio to start sorting my knee out, but I just had a lovely 4-day weekend and I’m seeing one of my best friends tonight so I’m happy!
Sadly, no juicy secrets to share at the moment – I’ve been surprisingly good 😉

    1. Hello QuietWater
Aww, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve not been well and are battling a throat virus. Having the knee problem must be a real pain in the you know where. So I hope that they get their act together and send you an appointment for the physio very soon.

Have a wonderful evening tonight, and a truly lovely 4 day weekend. It sounds like a plan all coming together. PERFECT!

Good to hear that you’re being a good girl. But …. don’t be too good. For sometimes the greatest fun can be found when you break out of good and dip your toe into the ‘fun bucket’. Not too naughty … but just enough to laugh so hard that your ribs ache.
