Little Fairy Shoes ~ once owned by Lady Lillie Fairy!

Looking through my photos on my camera I found these photos which I took ages ago and totally forgot to share them. What a dope!

These fairy shoes belonged to Lady Lillie Fairy.  She’s rather a big deal in The Land of the Fae.  She’s the Fairy equivalent of our Dame (a title bestowed only by the Queen (or who ever is the Monarch at the time) in the UK).  She’s well-respected and treated as a high-ranking Fairy among those who reside in the Land of the Fae.

She has her clothes made by Fairyland Designers, and shoes made by a Cobbler called Cobwebs.  (Yes, I know, how incredible is that?  Me=Cobwebs;  Cobwebs=Cobbler! Who woulda thunk?!).

Possibly made from the petals of a Lily which one can find only in Fairy Land.  (or they might have been made from Polymer. [cough])  Can you see the teeny tiny stamens – which don’t leave any stains on your clothes – peeping out from the insides of the inner petals of the Lily?  They’re made from the same stuff.

The decoration which you see to the front of the shoes are teeny tiny green glass beads, which are hung on copper wire.  These beads give the most delightful tinkling noise as the shoes are moved, which makes every step taken ring out in an ethereal, magical, almost imagined sound,  – but it’s not imagined, for you really can hear it  – as you would expect from a Fairy!

The copper Penny sat next to the shoes in the photographs is there for reference, so that you can get an idea of the size of the shoes.

Of course, no shoes were stolen in order to share these shoes with you.  These shoes were left under a Fairy toadstool, in a place which is clearly labelled  “Sharing the Shoes” – so that a passing Fairy might stumble upon them and try them for size, or a human, with an eye for Fairies, might find them and either add them to a collection (as I do) or might begin a collection.

I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course).   1. I love your modelling, Cobs, and it is something I would really like to have a go at myself! I have bought the clay. I just need the time and the inspiration of what to create. Pretty much business as usual there on my part! 😀

    1. LOLOL… when I began reading your comment I was thrown into a spin.
      “I love your modelling” … I instantly began to panic that I’d put the wrong photograph on my blog, and posted one of me myself instead of the fairy shoes!

      Cor … Jumping Jupiters and Leaping Lizards!! … I didn’t know my heart could race that fast!

      LOL… the penny dropped after about a minute, but it was pure panic for a moment there.

      Have you ever worked with any clay at all before?
      What clay have you bought to play around with? I’m guessing that it’s perhaps an air dry clay … unless it’s a Polymer clay, which requires baking in the oven.

      Everyone has to start somewhere, and unless we begin, we cannot win. Just jump in and play with it Tom. Don’t expect to be brilliant the first time you play. Just give it chance.

      1. Hehehe! Ah… sorry about the momentary panic there, Cobs. I really must choose my words more wisely.
        The clay I have is an air-drying one. I don’t have an oven, only a microwave, and I don’t think that will do my modelling any favours. That said, I don’t think my modelling will do my modelling any favours either, but it’s worth a go. I can see finished models in my mind’s eye, which pushes me along – I just need to work out what they are actually *of* and then I can begin!

          Well … you have an animal vibe going on with your paintings – so why not choose an animal to make. But … just make a head or head and shoulders – don’t stress yourself out by trying to make the body or the legs. One step at a time gets you started.
          Try a cats face. You could make it realistic, or comical or just ‘you’. Your style. If it’s the first thing you make, and you’re not entirely happy with it, DON’T be tempted to throw it away. Keep all your artwork. Date it. So that you can see how you’ve progressed.
          But don’t be disappointed. Just play. Mess around. Get the feel of it.
          Who knows what might pop out of your fingertips while you’re playing!

    How do you come up with these things? I always need to “see” something before I try it. I am in awe.

      As for how I come up with these things …. well I think I’d answer that by saying I think I have a wonky brain. They just seem to happen. The only decision I make is the colour … once that happens, something else takes over.

  7. Oh my! You are so talented! Those are just stunning! I have never worked with clay but did meddle with ceramics many moons ago if that counts… lol! I think I would go cross eyed if I worked on something that small. I don’t know how you did it. They are totally awesome! I wish I lived closer so my crafty fairy could slip over and give them a try on… but then they might come up missing! 😂 They are just adorable! Such great details!       Working with ‘little’ and small is something I really enjoy. I love to deal in details – so making small things gives me chance to do that, at the same time work out what can be included and what needs to be left out because of there being so little space available. (Hence there are no leaves on these shoes lol).

      You could be right. Maybe a Fairy had sent him with a note, detailing the requirements. I never saw the note … but maybe he dropped it in the garden.

    1. Try again.
      Not necessarily now. Maybe sometime. When you feel so inclined. Don’t expect to make something amazing. Just expect to make something you want to keep for yourself. A cat. Just a face …. a cats face. Start with four balls the same size. Ever so gently, pinch one ball – GENTLY. So that it makes it into a sort of slightly three pointed thing. Put that blob at 12 o clock. put one ball at 9 o clock, one at 3 and then the final ball at 6.

      All the balls should be touching. Now using a little liquid polymer, put them together so that a tiny bit of liquid polymer is where the balls touch each other. Kind of like a glue.

      With your finger tip … gently press down on the bottom ball – the one at 6 o clock. Not too much … just enough to push it down a tad.

      Can you see a cats chubby chops and nose forming now?

      From that point, you’ll know exactly what you need to do to make the rest of the cats head.

      You could mount this head (once baked) into a little frame and hang it on the wall!

      1. Sadly I finally parted ways with all of my clay about 6 months ago. You see, I was that student in art class that tried to make a vase and ended up with a wonky flat paperweight.

        As I read your instructions, it is apparent that you have a whole lot of knowledge in sculpting. It would have never crossed my mind that I could make a cat’s face that way!

      I’m filled with thankfulness that I have been given what is needed for me to play with the ‘toys’ in my craft room, and I give thanks all day every day. I love to make for other people best of all. But I will admit that there are some things which I grow so fond of that I just, every now and again, keep for myself.

      It’s like having a few treasures… I share most of them, but I squirrel away one or two things so that I can love them some more.
