Believe in the Magic . . .

In a comment on my last Fairy Dress bit of artwork (an A.T.C. – you can see it  HERE  –  it will open up in another window for you),  I received this message … or maybe it was a letter …

Dearest Cobs,
I would like to place my order for a lovely fairy dress in my size. I would also like it to have a bit of magic in it so that it makes my size be about 5 sizes smaller. And if I’m going to ask for some magic I should also like the feathers to be completely functional so that I can lift my skirt and fly away whenever the mood strikes me!
Sending you the fluffiest of fluffy feathered blessings!
~ Tami

Well, this young lady didn’t discuss colours, she only mentioned feathers, and a magical dress which would make her look at least 5 sizes smaller.  But … I don’t think it would be small enough for a real Fairy Dress in Fairyland … so I’m going to have to wave a Magic Wand over Miss Tami and simply change her into Fairy Size.  However, I have made her a dress which has a feathered skirt, – the feathers of which have been kissed with colour by a Kingfisher as he flew past.  As Fairy Tami flies, the feathered skirt will simply brush away from her legs which will allow her to land easily.

Teal Fairy Dress 2

The Fairy Wings are the most beautiful of feathers …. but they’ve been died, cut and tinted to make them look like a butterflies wings.

Teal Fairy Dress 3

The Skirt …  has been adorned with Diamond like Crystals, which can also be found on the bodice, at the centre of each flower.  The Bodice was all hand painted.

Above the Fairy Dress is a crown of gold ….  again decorated with Diamond like Crystals, and placed at a slightly jaunty angle, as I feel that Miss Tami would wear her crown at a slightly jaunty angle to show the fun side of her character.  (And believe me, that gal has a MAHOOSIVE fun side!  lol).

Teal Fairy Dress 4

Although the four photos might appear to be exactly the same, they actually aren’t.  I tried my best to show the little details of this card so had to use different lighting in the hope of drawing attention to things so that you got a full idea of the whole card.

The Fairy Dress and Wings are mounted on an 8″x8″ plain white card blank.  The Teal colour around the edge is actually called Aquamarine, and is made using one of my most favourite crafty products – Pinflair Buff-it.  I LOVE this stuff and have it in about 8 different colours.  You can buy it direct from  Pinflair HERE –  I’ve shopped with them for many years now and cannot fault their service.

After I’d applied the Buff-it and polished it to a shine,  I then applied wriggly lines of glue all over the card and added very fine glitter dust to that glue.

I fixed the Dress and Wings in place;  fixed the crown at a jaunty angle, and finally fixed the word ‘believe’ to the bottom right hand corner – which I’d printed onto some thin white cotton.

And that’s all there was to it!

Teal Fairy Dress 1

I do hope Miss Tami likes it.  Of course… she’ll have to have a fitting to ensure that it fits OK, but personally .. I can’t see a problem.  I think it will fit like a glove.

All that’s left for me to say now is ….  I hope your week is going well and that it’s not too hot, nor too cold where ever you are right now.  Here … well it’s a little humid in my cottage, but I’m sure it’s like that for a reason …  and being England, the weather will change if you blink so I’m sure it won’t last for too long.  (Although it’s three days here in the South Coast, and I am getting just a little fed up of feeling like a wilted flower).

Have a wonderful day, whatever you’re doing And whatever you’re doing, be nice.  Smile.  A smile costs nothing, but it can change a person’s whole day.

Squidges, from me here in my corner to you there in yours.

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

Love that you like the card. A Super Hero Fairy? Well… there’s a first time for everything, and I can think of no better person to take on the roll than Tami herself.

Although mind … the ‘power’ might go to her head! LOL.

  3. So clever! Beautiful colours and a wonderful dress – you are a designer of the highest quality, and I will not be at all surprised to find out you have been bewitched, shrunken down and carried off by a dragonfly to design personally for the Faery Queen…lots of love to you 😺💕xxx

    1. Hello Samantha
Well… bless your beautiful heart. Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. I’m overjoyed that you like the Fairy Dress Card.

Shrunken down and carried off by a Dragonfly … oooooo … I think I’d rather like to be carried off to meet the Fairy Queen of Fairy Land. What an honour!

I’d very much love the ride on the Dragonfly’s back too. I think they’re magical little creatures and I just know, in my bones, that they are definitely part of the Fairy Land ‘team’ of magical beings.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment Samantha.
Have a blessed Thursday, my friend.

LOOOOOOVE dragonflies. They’re so magical. So breathtakingly beautiful. Always such a surprise and I sooo want them to just stop for a moment so that I can drink them in.

I shall definitely look out for him tomorrow Samantha … and I shall report back if I spot him!

        2. It’s taken me till now to remember where we spoke about the dragonfly ….

The day following my reply saying that I’d look out for it … Mr.C was out in the garden just before I went out, and I heard him call to me “Ohhh, you’d have loved that. A beautiful dragonfly!”

I went as fast as I could to see if I could spot it … but it had gone.
“What colour was it?” I asked Cobs Snr.
“The most beautiful mixture of greens and blues. It was kind of shimmery. It sparkled in the sunshine”.

IT CAME, Tam …. it actually came. 🙂
All because you wished it to be so. You truly are magical.

  4. Dearest Cobs,
Your sweetness and kindness must have inspired every fairy to break out their extra special magic dust for this whimsically wonderful dress! I say that because not only does it magically make me fairy size in my imagination, and lets me flutter about the lovely flowerbeds, it also has made me 5 years old again! Squealing and hopping and dancing about like it is EVERY birthday and Christmas and rainbow and soap bubbles and dandelion fluff and chocolate cake and crisp new hair ribbons and puppies and kittens and everything else that SPECIAL magic fairy dust is used to make!
I do Believe dearest Cobs! I do Believe that you are a fairy and that when you were born the Fairy Gods sprinkled the most magical of magical fairy dust onto your wings to make them invisible so that only someone that truly does BELIEVE can see them. And an extra “poof” of dust so that when you touch the non-Believers they will sneeze and rub their eyes and see that they SHOULD Believe because there you are standing in front of them with the most magnificent gossamer wings!!!
Now, back to business – I shall need detailed washing instructions. In fact please tell me how I will launder this while I am still wearing it because I shan’t ever take it off!!
Wishing you and yours the very most, best, biggest, happiest, joyfullest, and brightest of bright blessings!! ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. The Fairy Dust was probably mixed in with Baby Powder…. that would explain my love of Baby Powder smell. I just adore it. (Doesn’t layer terribly well with my Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue – but hey ho. lol)

Washing instructions … you’ll never have to wash this dress … you see …. there is a laundry Fairy who is in charge of washing, drying and ironing. She/he also hangs clothes and folds clothes and is even known to put them away. I have no name so cant share it. But I know that the younger fairies don’t even see her collect the washing. It just disappears from off the floor or in the basket …. and she delivers it back too. All secretly done, and no one thanks her for doing the job.
…. bit like mums. :/ lol

As for no one seeing my wings … children do. I can walk around the supermarket or general shops, park, beach … and I find babies and little children watching me and smiling. I don’t know for sure that it’s the wings … but I think they can see them because I know of no other reason they should smile at me. My face pulling surely doesn’t make them smile, nor pulling my tongue out. 🙂

Have a wonderful day Tami. Glad you like your dress!

I may respond more later. Right now I am on the porch trying to get my wits gathered after dealing with my hard-headed dad this morning. I had to come home and pull weeds to work it out too. Plus…it was cooler this morning and felt like getting outside for a spell. xoxo
