Birds of a Feather flock together….

A couple of days ago, here on the Emporium blog, a couple of  other bloggers and myself were chatting, via the comments thing, and wondering where one of our much-loved bloggers, PaperPuff, or, as we call her, Puff,  had disappeared to.

We knew that she was going to be having a short time away from blogging because she had to look after someone she cared about for a while.  However, that was three months ago.

I along with other bloggers have left little messages on her blog, saying hello, sending good wishes, love and …  I let myself in using the spare door key under the mat and ate a pack of biscuits …. then Flo found the key and broke into the house and found some more biscuits …  (obviously, we didn’t really break in….  we were just playing about and hoping to make our mutual blogging friend laugh if she was readingFlo and I are both gigglers – can I say  ‘two peas in a pod’?).

I do have her email address, and emailed her about a month ago, but haven’t heard back from her.

Sooo when SamanthaMurdoch wrote asking if I’d heard from Puff or if I had any means of communicating with her, it was this question which made me check my emails to see if I possibly might still have her address there.  I couldn’t believe it when I found I still had it.  You see, I delete all emails containing snail mail addresses after I’ve used the address for sending out ‘Giveaways’ or cards for some other reason, so to still have it was like finding a gold nugget.

I told Samantha that I had the address, and wondered if perhaps I should send her a little card or something through the snail mail post to just say hello, or something like that.

Samantha and her friend Gillyflower said yes!  Do it.  So I made her a quick, but fun card today.

Birds of a feather A
Birds of a feather flock together…

Using a few different colours of watercolours, I dabbed some colours onto the card and once dried, I turned them into birds (apart from one, which I turned into a funny furry mouse), and then around the edge, beginning on the left hand side of the card I ‘wriggly wrote’ the message….  “We’ve Looked High and Low …..

and then on the inside…

Birds of a feather B
…  and we can’t find YOU!

… it goes on to say …. and …  we can’t  find  YOU!  Again … with a little, long-legged, watercolour bird on the inside.  It’s all done in a fun, casual, smiley way.  In a way which I know will make Puff smile when she sees it.

I thought I’d send it to Puff, saying that Samantha Murdoch, Mrs. Craft, Gillyflower and myself were all thinking about her, and hoping she was well. (or something along those lines … perhaps a little more of a smile in the words somewhere).  If there are any other of Puffs friends reading who would like their name to be included, please say so, before the end of Friday night at 11pm UK time,  via the comments section of this post, and it shall be done.

Before signing off …

There will be no regular ‘Friday Post’ this week.  Time has run away from me this week and I’ve found myself to be plumb tuckered out trying to chase after it.  So I decided that going to bed was my greatest need over building the Friday Post, (yes, I know … I’m shocked too!  I’ve never deserted my post before!), so that’s exactly what I’m going to do.  I’m off to bed.  A bed covered in freshly washed sheets which were dried on the line outside and smell so pretty.  Ahhhhh…. I can feel that fresh cotton on my legs right nowzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Ooops.  ‘scuse me!  😳

So we’ll look on it as a little holiday.  Normal services will be resumed, when normal reappears. 🙂

In the meantime,  sending love and squidges … oh … and as the famous Jimmy Durante once sang:  …  make someone happy.  It’s so important to make someone happy.  Then you, will be happy, too.  And he was right you know.  It really does work like that.

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. This is so strange. I was only thinking about G tonight and wondered how she was. Please include my name if at all possible Cobs. Huge thanks. Flo xx P.S. I did leave a few buscuits in the packet!!! 🙂 PPS. I can’t believe it is nearly the weekend again. Have a good ‘un xxx

    1. lol….you didn’t leave a few biscuits … you left a few broken bits of a biscuit and a gazillion crumbs. I have replaced Puffs biscuits …. but not before I tested them and decanted them into the tupperware box.

I also noted that she’s left a bottle of rather nice looking wine in the fridge. Meet you there at 7pm and we could crack that one open. 😀

I’ll add your name Flo. When I clambered into bed a stray little thought came into my mind and told me that I’d forgotten to put your name into the blog post here. Sorry about that… but I shall, I promise, include it in the card.

Have a great weekend, oh beautiful friend. Make some memories. (heard the news on TV …. and instantly was concerned for your safety. I’m so relieved to see you safe and well.)

        1. Ahhh… well you’re in luck … I can’t drink whisky, as I don’t like the taste (it makes me screw my face up like I’ve sucked the worst lemon in my life!) … so I’ll have the wine, and you have the whisky.

I think we have all the makings of a two person party in the planning!!! WHOO HOO!

My prayers are added to yours for Barcelona, Flo.

    1. Hello Kathy.
Like you, I miss her dreadfully too. She was my rascal playmate and between us we could have an amount of fun which, by rights, I feel should be against the law! (lol) No swearing, nothing dreadful and nothing which would make our mothers ashamed of us, but fun in such volumes that it really shouldn’t be allowed.
So I can totally understand why you and others miss her dreadfully too.

I’ll of course add your name, Kathy.

  5. I don’t know Puff, so don’t include me, but I am glad that you have the contact info to do this. I always worry when blogging friends disappear – with no way to check on them! What a nice, sweet little card to send her, if she is feeling down or overwhelmed, it will cheer her right up. and no matter what, it will make her day.

Aren’t freshly laundered and dried outside sheets the best? Even better with a bath or shower before bed and fresh clean jammies as well. 🙂 I would go to bed, too. We can wait for the post. 🙂

    1. Hello Salpal
Puff is a unique gal and lots of fun. You’d like her, I’m sure. (If you want to get a feel for her there’s a link to her blog over on the right hand side in the bar.)

I’m hoping that the card does make her smile and that she’s ok. Like you, I worry when blogging pals disappear. In the time I’ve been blogging I’ve had three bloggers stop blogging and I’m beginning to take it personally. 😉
Ah, joking aside, …. because they’re bloggers who I loved to read and enjoyed their blog posts so very much, it made the loss almost painful. But I continue to send out good wishes for them and pray that everything in their lives is only good.

Freshly laundered and dried outside sheets … yes.. absolutely the best. And yes… they’re fantabulous after a bath or shower and … ah … well I don’t wear jammies to bed … I wear them during the evening around the house … but they come off at bedtime. 🤗 eeek! lol (well that’s secret 42 about Cobs just popped out!) lol.

        1. Yes, I read it. I couldn’t answer her post straight away – I think shock set in and my mind was blown away like a raging wind had gone through it. I wanted to cry for her.
          Bless her heart.

She’s dealing with so much, and yet so calm and so amazingly together. I’m pretty sure that had my body begun to behave like hers did as she was in the car there … I think I’d have gone to pieces. Thanks be that she wasn’t driving the car herself.

A prayer has already been pushed out of my heart and head and she will continue to be in my prayers. Perhaps, if we all joined together and prayed really hard for the same thing …. perhaps the power of prayer could be realised.

Thanks for checking with me Faye. It’s so kind of you.
          Bless you.

I miss her dreadfully, and pray that she’s alright, and that it’s only good things which are keeping her from blogging.

Ohh how have you been??? It’s been aaages since I last saw you. I guessed that your jewellery making had taken off and you were just so busy that you had no time to blog.
Which I can understand because I would have indulged in many of your handmade items! …. oh …. and I still dream about the little pendant with the fish swimming in it. I still long for that one.

It’s fabulous to see you. I hope you are well and that life is treating you kindly.

I have blogged less partly because my camera gave out on me but hubby just bought me a fancy phone and it takes great jewellery photos so I’m back! Great to see you. (Though I do drop by stalker-like every now and again!😋)

    1. Hello Barbara.
Sadly, I’m afraid I can’t add your name as the card has already been sent. It was posted last Saturday morning.
(… the second paragraph under the last photo, says: ” If there are any other of Puffs friends reading who would like their name to be included, please say so, before the end of Friday night at 11pm UK time, via the comments section of this post, and it shall be done.” … you were reading a post dated 18th August – which was last week).

I’m sure, that if Puff reads the comments here she’ll know that you and many more people who are wishing her well and hoping for just a word or two, letting us all know that she’s safe and sound although unable to blog at the moment, or even the foreseeable future.

I would hope that she knows that we all care about her and those names which weren’t mentioned on the card are still people who care but just weren’t available to add their name to the card at the time for whatever reason.

        1. Not as yet Mrs.P. The card was posted on Saturday morning at around 9.am, and sent first class. But … as all we UK’ers’ know, first class no longer means next day delivery. So It may have arrived on Monday … but I doubt it. I could have arrived on Tuesday, but I’m a little bit doubtful. It very well might arrive at Puffs home today, and I’m VERY hopeful.

So with a bit of luck and the power of prayer, I’m hoping to hear from her by Saturday.
I’m not going to hope for hearing before that, as I know she has a very busy job and might be plumb tuckered out each evening. But Saturday might be the charm.
(fingers crossed for just hearing at all really. I just want her to be safe and well)

As soon as I have any news I’ll do another post and update everyone.

I know I’m too late to be included in the greetings but I’ve set my telepathic powers to the highest settings so that I could send my warm and happy thoughts to her. If you sense some buzzing in your area that makes your ears tickle that is my psychic salutations for dear Puff. Please redirect them to her vicinity.

    1. I miss Puff too Samantha. I’ve gone to my in-box (email account), more times than I think I’ve ever visited it before, in this last week, just hoping for an email from her, a word to let us know she’s fine. Anything really. But so far, there’s been nothing.

I do hope that she’s OK. It just doesn’t ‘feel’ like her to just up and disappear.

Praying that we’ll all hear from her soon.

Yes, praying for Kidergarten too. She’s another lovely lady, and I couldn’t take it in at first. It seemed like we had to be talking about someone else. Certainly not KinderG.
A stroke, out of the blue, just happened. Thank God that she wasn’t actually driving the car at the time.
May God bless and keep her in the palm of His hand until she’s well on the mend again.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Samantha.

  16. Hi, Cobs. After all these many months, Puff continues to be in my thoughts, as I’m sure she does with you, Samantha and many others. There is still no online trace of her to be found, and it is with terrible dread that I can only think the worst — that Puff is very decidedly not okay. Would you consider trying her e-mail again? Is there any other way we can find out what’s happened (whilst still maintaining privacy, of course)?

    1. How strange that you should bring this up today. I went over to her blog and looked at the ‘likes’ from other people on her last and final post, trying to work out if perhaps one of those followers were a work colleague who we could ask. But nothing stood out as a possibility.

I did wonder if perhaps I could go down another road and see if I could work backwards to work forwards in order to find something, anything, which would give us something positive.

I did come up with an idea – but somehow I’m not sure if it would seem kind of creepy to her.
I got an impression of where she worked, when she used to blog, so it did cross my mind if I could go down that road to hopefully find someone who could help.

But again … if she’s decided that she no longer wishes to be part of the on-line community, then me trying to find her might feel like someone over-stepping the mark and so totally push her in the wrong direction.

I’m so, so desperately sad that none of us has heard from her. I miss her dreadfully. Really miss her. She had such a wonderful sense of fun and we could ‘play’ together and have the biggest laugh. I loved her to pieces (not in an ‘icky’ way) – and wish with all my heart that she’d suddenly turn up and shout hello, and show us a card she’d made that week.

She ‘disappeared’ at the time of the Grenfell Tower fire, and because, on her last post, she said that she was caring for someone who had a ‘lot of stairs’ – I guessed that person must live in a flat.
After she didn’t come back to her blog again, I began to put one thing with another and my heart sank at the thought that she might have been caught up in that fire.

But … that’s just me trying to make sense of her disappearing.

I will try emailing her again – just in case. But trying the only other ways I can think of find out more information … well I’m kind of scared that our interest might be deemed inappropriate and worry that I could either open up a can of worms, or get into trouble for trying to find out if she’s ok.

It’s so bally awful. It’s like being damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Either way – it could just end up causing trouble, and still not finding out if Puff is OK.
      [sigh]
I’ll email her again, and cross my fingers.
Sending love to you ~ C.
