And Pigs Might Fly! ~ an ATC painted for World Watercolour Month

I’m going to type this blog post and get it all finished and completed within 15 minutes.  Yeah … and pigs might fly!

I got out my paints this afternoon (Sunday) with the intention of painting an Angel …  but then a stray little ticklish memory came to mind and I found myself pencilling a flying pig, and so I went with it.

AND PIGS MIGHT FLY 1
P ‘And Pigs Might Fly’  ~ an ATC sized painting for ~ #WorldWatercolorMonth

It was quite a quick painting project, the longest time was waiting for colours to dry so I could move onto another colour  …  but my heat gun helped with that just a tad.

Again, painted to the ATC size of 2.5inches by 3.5inches.  You can see the exact size in the photo above – the pencil marks around the sides – but I always leave an ‘over-hang’ so that I can touch/hold the painting and move it around without getting mucky finger prints on it and spoiling it.

I tried a white mount around it and quite liked that.  But then tried the blue mount and …

AND PIGS MIGHT FLY 2

…  I quite liked that too.  One moment I love it with the white mount … and the next … well … what can I say.  I like them both.

What about you?  Which one do you prefer?

This really was an enjoyable make.  Watercolour paper.  Watercolour paints.  Some brushes and some water … and VOILA!  One teeny pig with really tiny teeny wings. Somehow I don’t think those wings would carry the pig … but hey…  who am I to judge?  I have no training in these things!  😇

Happy Monday!

I know, I know, you’re not overly impressed with Mondays.  Lots of people aren’t.  So let’s break the system.  Let’s paste a smile on our faces and wear it at every opportunity today.  Why?  Because it makes everyone wonder what the HECK you’ve been up to.   You’ll look like you’ve been up to something or know something.  Keep ’em guessing.  When they ask you just say   “Aw,  nothing,  really” … but say it in *that* way which makes them think that  …  you might not be telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.   And that alone will keep ’em smiling.  lol

Have a truly blessed day my friends,  and wherever you go today,  may your God go with you.

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Oh how adorable! Pigs might fly was one of my dad’s favourite sayings, I got a funny goosebump-y feeling reading this.

What do you do with all your atcs? I have a bit of a vision of a craft room with walls held up by your art work

    1. LOL!
It was a favourite saying of my mums too.

All the little ATC’s I’ve done for this years World Water Colour Challenge Month are currently residing in a big, big envelope. Once the month is all done and dusted, they’ll go into an ATC folder.

You used to be able to buy ready made ATC folders to store them in, but I haven’t seen those around of recent, so I need to go on a seek and find mission as I’m on my last folder. I suppose after this, it will be a box.

I do use them on handmade cards sometimes, and those seem to go down very well. And … in the past, I have sold some (which of couse changes them from ATC’s into ACEO’s.

Laughing at the image of my craft room being held up by my art. Oh crumbs! lol Thankfully the walls of my craft room (which is such a massive blessing in my life) is all brick and plaster, so I don’t think they’ll cave in under the weight. But … I do remember when we first viewed this property, and how emotional I was when the estate agent (Realtor) unlocked the door of the room which was to become my craft room …. and I actually cried. I stood there like a blubbering baby, because I’d never had an exclusive art room before. So I think it was a done deal with regard to buying the cottage.

But … I can’t have too much of my ‘stuff’ in the cottage itself as it’s quite a small little cottage. I think at some point I’m going to have to give some things away – but it will be like pulling teeth. LOL.

Thanks for the fabulous comment, Isn’t She C. Great chatting with you.

    1. Hello QuietWaterCraft.
Thrilled that you like the ‘And Pigs Might Fly’ ATC.
Don’t be sorry … I like both the White and the Blue mount too. They each bring out something in the painting and both look rather nice teamed with the piggy.

Thank you so much for coming to visit, and for the lovely comment. Love chatting with you.

  2. “Can I borrow a million dollars?” asked the wife. “When PIGS fly!” replied the husband. Aw, it was nothing really. It’s just a saying that is used a lot around here. Not every day, but when a ridiculous question is asked, it will most likely be used.
    I like the blue mat.
I sure love the wee pig too. Really a sweet little painting Cobs.
    hugs from here to there.

    1. Aw I’m so glad that this is a world wide saying I was fearful that I’d end up having to do a detailed addition to the post to explain what it meant! lol

erm … the wife …. does she now get her million … because I’ve given her proof that (some) pigs do …. and he didn’t say exactly what pigs. LOLOLOL

Glad you like the piggy …. and the blue mat!

    1. I’m sat here laughing and smiling. Ohh. I’ve just read your comment to Mr.C and now he’s laughing too.

Bless you for giving me my biggest smile of the day so far. I’m literally tickled pink. I can feel a warm rosy glow to my cheeks, and slightly watery eyes from giggling so much.

Thrilled to bits and pieces that you like this little piggy.
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment. Bless you.

  4. I love piggies – remember that advert where it showed all the baby pigs swimming? I stopped eating all pork products after that…

Love your painting, I often use this phrase myself! 💕🐷💕🐗

    1. I don’t seem to know about the baby pigs swimming advert. I’ve had a look on YouTube and can’t find it. But I did find some pigs swimming in the Bahamas sea. They were making the sweetest noise. Not the ‘snort’ we know pigs doing, but more of a squeak. They sounded like they all had little doggy squeaky toys in the mouths and were squeezing them over and over!

Like you … I don’t eat Pork either. I used to until a few years ago when I had a violent reaction to it. Others ate the same pork as me and had no problems with it, so I knew it wasn’t food poisoning.

But …. Haven’t eaten pork since, and I’ll never eat it ever again.

Thrilled you like the painting Samantha.
Thank you for coming, and for the fabulous comment.

        1. LOL…. nooooo you must always allow your imagination to run riot.

But being serious … it could just be that you had that advert in your part of the world to advertise something which is only available to your area.

It’s like here in England, I know that we’ll have adverts that never see the light of day where you live.
Check this one out: (if you liked your swimming pigs, then you’ll like this one I think) …

  5. Oh how cute! This reminds me of something, but I can’t seem to remember it just now. Hmmm. Perhaps a book I read when I was younger??? Anyhow, I love both the white and the blue frames. The white “softens” the blue background, but the blue background makes the blue in the image appear brighter. Happy Monday (it’s Thursday when I’m writing this, so I can say Happy Monday because it’s over now! LOL!) 🙂

    1. LOLOLOL… ‘Happy Monday’ … for a moment I thought … “Monday? Where the heck does Nancee live in the world that it’s still Monday???” .. then I read the rest of your comment and the penny dropped. LOL

Thrilled you like it Nancee. Thank you my lovely blogging friend.

      1. Wonderful!! Now I am squealing and snorting in delight that I gave you both a giggle! Of course my dogs think I’ve gone mad (again) with all of the barnyard noises but they will settle down when I bark at them explaining why I’m squealing and snorting. You’ve stirred up quite the menagerie of sounds here this morning dear Cobs!!! :@

  7. The white brings out the picture, to me, Cobs, whereas the blue brings out the pig. Wonderful artwork again – and you’re wrong about those wings… just the right size for a flying pig!

    1. Oh, thank you Tom.
My favourite part of that pig is actually those little wings, but you can’t see the blending of the colours in these pictures. Perhaps I could have made a large picture of the wings and posted it by itself – but it felt a bit indulgent, so I didn’t. The wings are so pretty. I doubt I could achieve that blending ever again.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Bless your beautiful heart, my fabuous blogging friend.
