LIEBSTER AWARD NOMINATION!

I was nominated by the terrific Teresa at  Craftowne Cottage  for the Liebster Award!  How kind is she?, and how fabulous is that!  😀

The Rules of the Award are as follows:

  • Acknowledge the blog that nominated you and display the award.
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you.
  • Give 11 random facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 11 blogs
  • Notify those blogs of the nomination.
  • Give them 11 questions to answer.

The questions which Teresa set for me to answer were:

 1.  What is your hobby?

I craft.,  is the short answer.  The longer answer is:  I paint (in various mediums and on any surface which sits still long enough), make hand-made cards, scrapbook, sculpt, recycle, up-cycle, and all sorts of other things, but I’ll stop here so that I don’t bore anyone.

2.  What advice would you give someone trying to find a hobby?

First discover what you like in other people’s hobbies.  Then choose the thing you’d most love to have a go at yourself.  But remember:  Being good at anything doesn’t happen the first time you try, so just enjoy yourself.  Blog your results if you can – as we are all our own worst critics, so getting feedback from other crafters or like-minded folk will help you, and they may even suggest something you haven’t thought of trying before.

3.  How old were you when you discovered your talent?

I seem to have been born ‘crafty’.  I don’t remember exactly when it started, I just know that I loved making.  (Even if it was making something out of empty cereal packets!)

4.  Your favourite place to shop?

Wherever I happen to find something I’m totally thrilled to bits at finding – and especially so if it’s a great price!

5.  Most visited blog?

OOooh… now this is a tough one.  I visit many, and love all of them.  But to choose one above any other would just be so wrong – as it would be like telling the other blogs that they come a close second.  None of the blogs come second.  They’re all really top class blogs, and all so very different.

6.  Favourite season

I have two.  Autumn and Spring.

7.  Do you prefer the ocean or the mountains?

The Ocean is my love.   To walk along a beach in that special magical place where the sea meets the shore and you feel the cool sand beneath your feet, while the sea gently rolls over your toes,  …  it’s that place which totally  bewitches me and fills me with a joy that only nature can supply.  The sea casts a beautiful spell over me and claims a part of my heart like only it can.

8.  What is one of your favourite quotes?

Oh, that one’s easy!  It’s this:

9.  What’s your favourite book?

I have too many to list.  But I do have a very special ‘favourite’ book:  . . .   it’s the one I’ve had ‘buzzing’ around my brain for years, and which I’m about to begin writing.

10. Truck, Car, or Jeep?

Most definitely a Car, and absolutely the most luxury one I could buy, (if I ever win the Lottery).  I don’t want ‘built for speed’, –  I would love (if money were no object) a car which is built for sublime comfort.  (I’d also like a suited, hat wearing, chauffeur – like Parker, who drives Miss Penelope about (in Thunderbirds)).

11. Coffee/tea to go or sit and chill for a bit?

Coffee – (and a plentiful supply)  in the morningand one cup at 4pm in the afternoon.

From midday onwards:   sugar free tonic water & ice, in a tall glass, with a straw please.

As for  ‘sit and chill for a bit’:   …  aaaany time you like!

Give 11 random facts about yourself.

1…I am the shortest adult in my family

2.  I can play a couple of instruments  – just not terribly well.

3.  I love really great chocolate.  (The good stuff … and never Cadbury chocolate anymore.  I have no idea what the heck they’ve done to the recipe of that once great magical chocolate, but now its awful.  You can put a chocolate button on your tongue and hold it there in you mouth, waiting for it to melt.  BUT  it doesn’t melt anymore.  It sits, on your tongue, keeping it’s shape and feeling like a sort of jelly type substance.  Horrid.  Horrid.  Horrid.)

4.  I adore home-baked ‘goodies’.  Bread,  Cakes, Biscuits, Flans, sweet or savoury things.  Anything.  So long as it’s home baked.  You can feel, see and almost taste the love which has gone into a home-baked item.

5.  My best ever holiday was during my pregnancy with daughter No.2.  We went to Cromer, taking my mum, daughter No.1 and my mums dog,  and, obviously, Mr. Cobs and I.  Cromer is a place in Norfolk, and we’d rented a little cottage there.  We had such a really wonderful time that I’d love to re-live it.

6.  I like to do things for others,  something which makes them smile, or gives them joy, or instills a feeling of hope, where perhaps they could only feel desperation and sadness.  I’m told I have empathy.

7.  I’m a very private person, and in part this is the reason for the non-de-plume/pen-name.  I was stalked by someone on-line.  It was a very nasty experience, and the person who did this got SO annoyed that I wouldn’t share my surname and my address with them that they attempted to find my address by using  bits of information they’d garnered from things they’d seen me say on a website I used to be a member of.  It began to feel very dangerous and scared me stupid.  I left the site and have never been back.  However now, I don’t give my real name or address to anyone on the internet.  You never know who you might be talking to.

8.  I love to be stroked.  Aaaaaanywhere you like.  Stroke me and it leaves me totally ‘useless’.  My whole body just gives up.  Aahhh but it’s   B.L.I.S.S.  🙂

9.  I’m really shy.  I know… I don’t come across on my blog as shy … but here, I can be anything I want to be … Super Woman! (yeah right)  Hero of the Year. (In another Universe) Photograph appearing in all the best magazines. (ha!) Truth is you won’t find a photo of me in any publication and although I’m happy to step in and be a ‘hero’ by helping someone, anyone, as soon as it’s ok I will disappear.  I don’t want thanks for things I do.  I do them because I’m a human being, and, as far as I’m concerned, that’s what humans are supposed to do.  We are meant to help each other.  Not hate, pick faults, poke fun at,  beat the you know what out of or, indeed, blow other people up!   We just have to love each other and help each other.  This is the way it’s supposed to be!  I don’t see what’s difficult about that or why some people seem unable to see that.  It’s SO simple!

10. I can’t live without a dog in my life.

11. I LOVE British TV dramas.  Period dramas, Detective dramas, Atmospheric dramas, Historic dramas, … anything.  Just give me a comfy chair and a drama and I’ll sit there quietly while you burgle my house.  Also love Comedy Dramas.  Comedy is ‘me’.

Now I have to . . .    Nominate 11 blogs

  1.  Notable Nest
  2. A Peace of Life
  3. Ms.Rabbit
  4. Kindergarten Knowledge
  5. Mary J Melange
  6. The Snail of Happiness
  7. Unmeasured Journeys
  8. Create with Barb
  9. Jill Ruth and Co
  10. Ruthies Crafting Corner
  11. Watching the Daisies

My Questions for you:

  1. Is there one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but still haven’t done it?
  2. What is your guilty pleasure?
  3. Who would be your dream dinner date?
  4. Do you have a favourite film?
  5. Do you have a favourite TV programme?
  6. If you were given a badge saying:  ‘In Charge Of the World  but only for 60 seconds’  …  what law would you pass or what change would you make in that 60 seconds?
  7. You found an oriental looking, corked bottle on a beach.  You uncork it and out pops a Genie.  He/She grants you 3 wishes.  Tell me your three wishes.  (no wishing for another wish or two either!)
  8. What drew you into the blogging world?
  9. Which do you prefer: writing and posting a blog post;  or  reading other peoples blog posts?
  10. You’re invited to a posh dinner, this evening.  What are you hoping will be served as your Starter?
  11. … and finally …  What is the one thing, above any other, which you just cannot eat, not even if someone offered you a thousand pounds/dollars just to eat a small piece of?
Don’t forget your random facts, and your nominations too.  (see the award rules at the top of this post).

Please note: If your blog is award free please accept
this nomination as a compliment to your blog without
any obligation.

My thanks again to Teresa at  Craftowne Cottage.  This has been such fun to do!

Thank you also to you, for coming for a visit and having a read.  Bless you, I love you for it.

Have a  blessed, wonderful,  Wednesday.

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Hi again Cobs, I thank you humbly for the nomination and I so enjoyed your answers to the 11 questions. I have decided to keep my blog award free. However, I will answer the questions you have posed just for fun (like I don’t have a million other things I should be doing). What a really scary experience for you to be stalked. I guess I am a very trusting person as I do share personal images. Perhaps I should rethink that, as you say, you just don’t know who you are sharing information with.

    1. You don’t, you really don’t.
I took advice from the Police regarding how to keep myself safe, and the things they told me were really simple things when you actually realise how easy it is to steal someones identity; get monetary loans or even buy goods on-line, in your name.

Don’t stop yourself from enjoying the web – just ensure your safety by double checking what you’re about to share with the whole world, before you ‘publish’ what you’ve typed.

I didn’t realise your blog was award free Barbara – so my apologies for the nomination. Please take it simply as a compliment to you and your fabulous blog which I enjoy greatly.
Oh … and yes, have some fun with the questions if you’d like to.

    1. Hello! 🙂
      Thank you.
Toblerone … coo… I can’t even remember the last time I had Toblerone! Isn’t that shocking! lol.

To be honest though . . I always had such a struggle breaking and eating Toblerone. It’s really quite a ‘hard’ chocolate to crack into!
Or maybe that just me, ’cause I’m a huge weakling! lol

        1. LOL!
Since typing that reply .. I’ve been reliably informed that they’ve changed Toblerone and it’s little triangles are further apart, so you can get more ‘purchase’ on them to get them apart. So … maybe with the new design I might totally amaze myself at the power of my miniscule musles.

On the other hand … I might not, and instead fail miserably.
          LOL.

    1. Hello Anna! 🙂
      Happy Wednesday.
You are very welcome. It was an easy choice to nominate you. Your blog is so amazingly well written – whilst being educational and entertainting at the same time.
I’ve passed a link to your blog to a couple of relatives who could find some help via your posts.

I’m giggling here … my ‘top tips’ are more warnings about how not to get into a fiddle faddle like I do! LOL.

  4. Congrats on your nomination for the Liebster award!!
I loved your answers to the questions you were given and your questions to others.
I had no idea you had gone through that horrible time on line. I am sorry for that, it would have been extremely scary. I did get bullied in school for a bit and that was horrible, but not like the internet. You can’t see the face behind these horrible words and things. So glad things are good now. Best to put all the in the background now anyway right? Right.
I too love chocolate and can play a few instruments. I learnt to play by ear on the piano and then I got introduced to sheet music and learnt how to read that, not really complicated music, but music none the less. I went on to play the organ and guitar. I would love to have one of those lovely new electric pianos and a guitar in the house to pluck and plunk on when the spirit moved me. Music does soothe the soul.
It has taken me years and years to become not so shy. I usually can speak my mind now, and if people don’t like it, like telling the truth, then phooey on them. Is that how you spell it, phooey. Anyway, it feels good to be comfortable enough with myself now but I am also in my late 50’s so that helps with confidence, at least with me it does.
That is about it for now I have to get ready to get out early this morning.
Take good care my friend on the other side of the pond.

    1. Hello Soozy. Lovely to see you! 😀
Sorry to hear about you being bullied at school.
Children can be so very cruel to other children. I don’t understand how that comes about and why they feel the need to do it.

Facebook is now the horrible thing – people feel they can hide behind a computer screen and come out with the most vile things directed towards others. I’m pretty certain they’d never say these things in real life.
I honestly wish that Facebook had never been invented. It’s stopped children and young adults learning how to behave properly in REAL social situations. Face to face situations.

Chocolate … good to hear that you’re a fellow lover of Chocolate.
I’ve found that the better quality the chocolate, the less I eat of it. I used to be a member of a chocolate club.
I paid a monthly charge, and Hotel Chocolat (that’s what it’s called) would send me a box of chocolates every month. Always different chocolates.

They were so lovely. So smooth. That I didn’t need to eat more than one chocolate a day. And that’s exactly what I did. One chocolate a day. At around 4pm, and I made an occassion of it too. I would stop everything I was doing. Take/Make no phone calls. I would just concentrate on that one chocolate. Perfect! (Helped me lose a few pounds too – which was a bonus).

Like you I’ve grown a little in confidence over the years too. My favourite thing that I can now do, which I never did before, is bargain for the best price on an item when I’m shopping for (say) a fridge, or a new cooker. I shop around and find what I want, then find the prices at various places, and finally … I will go into one of the stores and get a great deal on the item I want to buy. The only thing you can get a problem with is Computers. Stores make such a small profit from those that there’s very little wriggle room on the price. (I learnt that from Daughter No.2 – who’s a computer buff).

Thank you so much for coming Soozy. I hope you have a truly blessed day my friend.

We really do need to be more careful don’t we.?
Do you have hedgehogs in your neighborhood ? I have really enjoyed watching BBC Spring watch, but don’t think I’ve seen the little scampers. Mostly birds.

    1. Hello Beverly! 😀
Thrilled to pieces that you enjoyed this and liked my answers.
Yes, we all really do need to be more careful and wise up on safety on the internet.

Hedgehogs … Well we had them in our old cottage, living in the garden. Such darling little things, although they used to freak out our old British Bulldog. LOL. She would run scared of them when she went out for a tiddle last thing at night.

But here in this new cottage … we haven’t seen any evidence of them in our garden here, but we have woodland areas, and farmland, around where we are situated, so there will be hedgehogs there for sure.

I love the BBC SpringWatch too, and I’m thrilled to pieces that you get it there. Fabulous!
As for the birds …. ohhh we have TONS of birds here … and joy of joys, we have an Owl which ‘T.wit t.wooooo’s at night time, and flys past. And in the woodland area where Mr.Cobs walks the dog, there is a Woodpecker! How brilliant is that!

Thanks for coming and for the fabulous chat, Beverly.

  6. Congratulations, Cobs, on your nomination!
As you know, I’m really bah humbug when it comes to awards, but I see a lot of people like them, and it is a really nice compliment to nominate / be nominated.
I also see a few similarities between you and I…I thought I was unique – maybe I’m not as unique as I thought. We should both don our cloaks together!
Hope you’ve had a good Wednesday, Mrs C… I keep thinking it’s Tuesday.

    1. How very strange … I seem to have lost a day already this week, and I keep feeling that it’s only Tuesday too!

It’s obviously the close and psychotic bond that we have. (or something like that. lol)

I actually wanted to nominate you, but I know yours is an awards free blog, so didn’t want to put you in a position of trying to think about saying ‘push off you dozy woman. Can you not read?!’ … so I decided that it perhaps would be more polite to acknowledge your decision and not include you in the list. But I really would have. I think you are very deserving and have such a fabulous blog. All your posts are a joy to read.

You are unique. You have blue eyes. I don’t. Taa daaaah! 😀
I’m just on my way over to your blog … I want to see todays post.
See you there. Get the drinks ready. Ice, no slice!

    1. Hello Daisies.
Playing catch-up seems to be my world just lately. I seem to catch-up, only to find that the next time I look at my ‘reader’, there are a bundle of new posts and I’m fighting my way to get to them all over again! lol.. It’s me. I’m obviously too slow. tsk tsk.

No worries about your blog being award free. I didn’t realise this, so please just accept it as a compliment.

Thank you so much for coming Daisies. Love seeing you here.

    1. Hello Samantha.
Aw, I feel for you … trying to catch up with blog posts, when real life has kept you from keeping up with them is like trying to nail jelly (jello for the USA) to a wall. As quick as you feel yourself catching up, there are more posts being made. It’s like a never ending trial to see how long you can keep it up before you throw the towel in and just ‘do’ all the new blog posts and have to let go of the ones you missed.

Thank you for your lovely comment Samantha, I love seeing you.
