What’s a Sentiment between friends? (~a handmade card for lots of reasons!~)

I wanted to make a ‘versatile’ card.  A card for almost any occasion.  So … I knew I’d have to be able to change the sentiment on the card in order to make the card versatile.  So this is the ‘story’ of one card, and,  just for the photos – four different sentiments.

Change the Sentiment 2
Hello …. friend?  Maybe?  Haven’t seen you for ages?  How are you?  Or maybe  ‘Hello’ on the front, and ‘Get well’ inside?  Or ….  Hello,  Happy Birthday?

Made on a 6″x 6″ white card, and using Dovecraft  ‘Couture du Jour‘  papers and decoupage pad as a background paper, and for the pocket (for the tags).

I decoupaged the main focal image, and it has 5 layers in total.

Change the Sentiment 3
“With Love” …. because you’re not feeling too well?   “With Love”  because … I love you?  “With Love”  …  just because?   “With Love” … on your Birthday?

The tags (in the pocket on the front) were stamped on plain white card, using stamps by Viva Decor.  They’re really fabulous crisp images which stamp clearly from the word go.

The tags were then ‘vintaged’ and layered on some green print paper, again from the Couture du Jour papers by Dovecraft.  I used some pastel chalks on the tags, in various places – on the one tag, I turned the stamped image of a bird into a blue bird.  And on the other tag, I coloured up the stamped image of a rose, using three different colours of chalks.

These are chalks I’ve had for … y.e.a.r.s!   I have two large sets of them – both made by Dovecraft.  They give a lovely soft, fuzzy sort of colour to things.  I really like them.

Change the Sentiment 1
“Thinking of You”  . . .   well this one speaks for itself.

The heart hat pins are ones which are generally available.  I think I bought mine on Ebay years ago.  I wanted some red ones, but had to buy a whole set in order to get the red ones.  tsk tsk.  No wonder my craft room has no space … it’s filled with ‘left overs’!  lol.  🙂

Change the Sentiment 4
“Just for You” . . .   because you deserve it.  “Just for You” because you’re amazing.  “Just for You”  . . . to say thank you for looking after out house while we were on holiday?   “Just for You” … because you’re a great help to me?  “Just for You” … just because.   . . .  or for a million other reasons.

The dragonfly over on the right (about a quarter of the way down) is from a selection by Anitas,  and the peg with the pink heart on it – down in the bottom left corner, is from the Santoro range.  And it’s this mini peg which enables me to change the sentiment on the card.  Virtually any sentiment can be held by that peg and it makes the card suitable for pretty much anyone.  I’ve just stamped four different sentiments to show you … and added some really pretty glitter – but you could stamp anything you wanted.

And that, as they say ….  is all there was to it!  Ta daaaaah!

Anyhoo ….. Happy Tuesday, 13th June.

Could someone please tell me who stole January to May?  And do the police know about this major robbery?

Do you know what’s made me a bit cross and fed up?  Create and Craft are having their CHRISTMAS  IN  [fricken]  JUNE  event.   Ho, Ho  bl**dy  Ho!

Now they  (Create & Craft)  say  (on their website)  that it’s only till the 25th June …  however, I remember last year and the year before … they said the same sort of thing, and Christmas never went away after their Christmas Event, so I have no hope that they’re going to change their ways and make Christmas in June, July, August, September, or October disappear.  [grouch, grouch, grump]

sigh

Ah well… I’m sure we’ll survive it.  I just won’t be buying anything from them until they stop the madness.  🙂

Wishing you a terrific Tuesday.  May the wind be a lazy breeze.  May any rains be soft, and feel like a caress as it touches your skin.  May the skies be a beautiful blue,  and may your day be free of anything which makes your heart ache.

Have a truly blessed Tuesday, all  ~

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Now how pretty is that card…no matter which sentiment is used. What a great idea! I seem to be behind on making cards all the time. This would be great…making up some cards in advance that could be used for any occasion…just finding the time! LOL!

    1. Aw thank you Nancee. 😀
Yes, making a card for when it was needed, was my hidden ‘agenda’.
A card which would suit a good few people for quite a selection of things. All I’d need to do was ‘insert’ the right sentiment and the card was done!

Wouldn’t it be lovely if ready-mades came with a selection of sentiments, and we just needed to choose the right one!

Thank you so much for coming Nancee. Love seeing you here.

    1. LOL… hello beautiful Beverly.
Aww I’m so thrilled that you like the card.
And … that you’re here telling me. 🙂

All I’m waiting for now is the moment you write and tell me that the parcel has arrived which I sent you last week.
I’ve not wished days away for ages …. but I’m currently like a child waiting for Father Christmas to come! (laughing to self here).

      1. I did have a frightful thing this week. Expecting a package of another sort that USPS said was delivered on Sat. wasn’t there …in my box and even tried to let USPS know. I just knew the crazy kids down the road had pulled a prank which is against the law I’m pretty certain. Well I put a note to Danny in the box ( he is a good mailman) amazing…..it was in the box today. He found it down the road a couple of boxes north. Sub. mail-carrier messed up. Thank you very much. Will let you know first thing.

        1. Aw, don’t you love brilliant Mailmen!!
We have an amazing mailman (called a Postman here in the UK) here where I live. He’s such a blessing – just like your mailman.

So glad you got your missing parcel in the end. It’s so worrying when things go missing.

  3. Your card is a delight. The layers of paper, tags, the hat pins and whimsical dragonfly paired with the delicate coloring are enchanting and intriguing. I studied it for several minutes because I kept noticing new details. I admire your creativity and hope someday I might be able to create something half-way close to this treasure. My best!

    1. Hello Landrybaby.
      Long time, no see!
Thrilled that you like the card., but wish you could see it i real lif. The photographs don’t do it justice, nor do they capture the true colour or depth of the card.

I would love to visit your blog, but the link which is supplied with you comment doesn’t work for me. So … if you get the chance, could you pick up the link to your home page and post it here so that I can pay you a return visit?
      Many thanks!
Have a blessed rest of your day, and thank you for coming!

  4. Morning Cobs. Loooove your cards. They are like a card and a gift in one. A gorgeous creation. Beautifully designed and made.
I reported the theft but have heard nothing back!
I used to like c&c. Our tv doesn’t work now since they altered the satelite so I have not watched it in years. Remember the the two big fellas. They used to make me laugh. Actually, most of the presenters on that show where entertaining. All good fun. Crafting seems to have got series over the last few years. We need to put the fun back into it 🙂

    1. Hello Florence!
      Aw, love seeing you.
You can watch C&C on your computer: http://www.createandcraft.com/gb/

Once the page loads, you can click to watch the current live hour, by either clicking on the link: ‘Watch Live TV’ or .. by visiting the ‘Schedule’ and clicking to view the live hour from that point.

They keep recent hours shown on TV for seven days, so if you’ve missed somethin you can still catch it for up to seven days after it aired.

I remember the two big chaps also. Barry and …. aw, the other ones name escapes me. But yes, they were a hoot!

ALAN!! Barry and Alan. It just came back to me at a speed of 140,000 MPH. lol. Phew . . . that was a strain for my one brain cell to accomplish. I’m proud of it. lol.

You’re right… crafting has become serious over the last few years, when it really should be F.U.N.

Let’s put the FUN back into Dysfunctional, shall we Flo?
You and me. Together. We’ll start a movement.

First, we’ll get the dance moves worked out though. I don’t want people to see us ‘dad’ dancing. 😀
      lol

Thrilled you like the card(s) Flo.
Thanks for coming and for chatting!

  7. You do create really nice cards, Cobs, and having one handy for any occasion is a really good idea. I’d just make a last minute dash to the shops (I know… terrible!)
And I’m not going to wish you Merry Christmas. No, I’m not going there! We’ve not even passed the Summer Solstice yet!

    1. Thank you and bless you.

Thank you also for not wishing me the Mer.. Ch…….!!! grrr.
How very dare they! June and advertising for sale Christmas crafty things, which they’ll have on sale in about two months time and people won’t even have (very likely) even so much as touched the pricey items they flogged ’em!
      [stamps foot]

[calms down] . . . Thank you for your lovely comment Tom.

  8. Lovely cheery summery make and great idea to interchange the sentiments! I am in total agreement over the Christmas thing, to me it feels like ‘Christmas’ never goes away any more, all the new dies coming out are Christmas, what is going on? Hugs x

    1. I know, Kim. It makes me so cross. In their ‘sale’ items they even have some dies and stuff from Christmas last year which they’re selling off cheap to get rid of them. Grrr.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
I love you to pieces for coming and having a chat with me.

  9. A super pretty card and a great idea to make a card suitable for various sentiments. As for create and craft doing Christmas already 😤 It really madness and they make you believe that you just can’t do without but honestly you can.

    1. Ah, I’m on my phone and pressed send too soon (fat fingers lol). Anyway, Santa will not be coming my way until at least December. I need a lazy summer holiday first and the excitement of school shopping for September and autumn (I love blustery cool weather) and enjoying things at a reasonable pace before rushing to next Christmas. Rant over.

Hope you are having a good week Cobs. Hxx

      1. I am SOOOO with you all the way with everything you’ve said.

I used to do the school shopping for the new term in the second week of the girls summer holidays. It got it out of the way and everything was in-stock so there was no last minute panic. Then, once everything was bought, we could just go crazy and enjoy the summer doing happy stuff.

You can come and rant here as much as you like Hannah. I’ll join in and we’ll put the world right, together. Us two Warriors!
now where did I put my sword? Did you see it in the umbrella stand on your way in? Long(ish), plastic – because the metal ones were too heavy for me to lift and swing around like the real warriors do. lol

        1. Ah, I’m afraid not but I do have a long green plastic sword and another one in red (no word of a lie. My son is obsessed with them).

It’s these little predictable markers that make life enjoyable and you have to make the whole year fun without jumping to December all the time. I love Christmas, I really do but there is so much in between! Hxx

          1. Me too. Very much so. And I look forward to it practically all year round. But I really don’t want some big organisation shoving it down my throat with a BUY NOW OR IT WILL BE SOLD OUT THEN YOU’LL BE SORRY! message when it won’t because we’ll be able to buy it from the makers themselves nearer Christmas, and probably at a lower price too!.
            Grrr.
ok… will clamber down off me soapbox. lol ~ C xx

    2. I don’t understand how they are obviously drawing people into buying this stuff at this time of year.

I also don’t understand how they haven’t found that they’re losing lots and lots of viewers, and seeing a large drop in their sales when they’re doing this each year.

Someone mentioned Hochanda to me. Now I can’t get that on my TV because I’m with Virgin, and Virgin haven’t got that channel. Hochanda need to rectify that very quickly. They’d gain tons of viewers while C&C are doing the Christmas in the 6th month of every year! [sigh]

I’ve now found Hochanda on my computer, and can watch it on-line. All I need to do is find the time and I’m off!

Thrilled you like the card Hannah. Thank you so much for coming. Love love love seeing you here.

I will still only use Plaid Acrylic Paints. They’re the best in the whole world.

Love our conversations Hannah. They’re such fun… and we usually go off at a tangent, which is just fabulous! LOL
