Things I’ve Learned This Week

Happy Friday, 26th May.  It’s the last Friday of May. Time, as we’ve already agreed, passes fast now.

It’s  ‘been a week’  this week. There’s been some fun.  But then there have been some very low spots.

For those of you who don’t know …  I live in the United Kingdom, and I’m pretty sure you’ll all know about the savage brutality which happened in my country on Monday, the 22nd of May.

The first thing my brain said was:  ‘Why?  Why in the name of God would someone believe that it’s OK to kill someone?  Anyone?  Children, teens, through to Grandma’s and grown ups.  Why?’

And … that’s the thing.  Exactly what is it which happens inside someone’s brain, which convinces them to kill,  maim,  injure,  mutilate,  lacerate,  disfigure,  and mangle innocent people in order to ‘please’  their  God?

Who’s God tells them that this is OK?

NO God is going to tell ANYONE that it’s OK to kill any other person.  In fact it’s the exact opposite of that which ANY God would say.

Someone is brain-washing these people, because that’s the only way that someone is going to have their normal thinking brain, turned into a willing slave in order to carry out someone elses instructions.

I’ve cried many hot tears over this vile act of evil savagery and even now, 4 days later, I know I’m still not all cried out.    However, something a dear blogging friend, Chicken Grandma,  said on her blog a couple of days ago, as a reply to a comment I posted:  “May we be light, may we be strong, may we be courageous, and may we as people of the world stand united in the process of bringing sanity back.”.

And she’s right.  We must be strong, courageous, and we must stand united in bringing back the sanity to our World.  We must also try to love those who wish to do us harm.  For two wrongs don’t make a right.  An eye for an eye simply ends up making the whole world blind.

If we are to overcome, we must all stand together as one, and, using love,  save this world.

Shall we move onto something more entertaining?

Mr. Cobs shared this with me this week …

He was reading the papers, on-line, and came across a story about a product being sold on Amazon which tickled the heck out of him.  (He does have a very ‘off centre’ sort of sense of humour – but then, look who he’s married to! :/ lol)

The details of the product read like this:  (if you have trouble reading or looking at any photos, right-click on the photo and click to ‘view image’ – and it will open up in a larger size.)

Loo Brush 1

Now that seems pretty straight forward, doesn’t it?  A toilet brush … gives you the idea that you’ll know what to use it for…  however …  someone decided they’d have a little fun with some feedback for this  . . .  (ladies … do you have on your Depends?) . . .

Loo Brush feedback1

Well dear ol’ Mr.C was laughing his head off – but at the same time trying to keep it together, and he was going red in the face and sounded more like Muttley than Cobs the Bogeyman!

Once I’d seen it …  I sounded like that too.  lol.  Apparently it’s quite a trend, I understand, to outdo anyone else with the funny feedback on things.  I found out that reviews for Sugar Free Gummie Bears are among the funniest things to read on Amazon.  lol

What else have I learned this week?

That Indian Curries are now off the menu.   I came late to Indian food.  I was pregnant with daughter number 2 when all of a sudden I announced that the neighbour must have been making a curry, and it smelled DELICIOUS!

Before this I hated curry.  The smell could make me heave.  But suddenly, at six months pregnant with second child, all I wanted was an Indian curry.  Mr. Cobs thought he’d died and gone to heaven!   The very next day he bought everything required for making one, and made it, and I’ve eaten curries Indian food ever since.  Until now.  Now that I’ve reached over the age of  ___  it would seem that my body is now saying NO MORE to Indian food.  Actually … it’s begun saying no more to a fair few different bits of food.  It’s making me quite cross.  How very dare it move me into a boring diet of denial.

Deny me this.  Deny me that.  Deny me everything I might find enjoyable.  It’s even now stopped me from eating ….  CUCUMBER!  Cucumber is basically water with a green skin.  So what’s the problem?  [sigh]

I also learned this week …  yet again .…  that I HATE the hot hot heat of summer.  I live in the south of the country (England) by the sea,  and it get’s quite ‘hot’ here in the summer.  I don’t like the summer much because it causes me to get grumpy and makes some medical ‘issues’ I have so much worse that it’s tiresome and annoying.

Note to other drivers on the road:   Drive NICELY.  Don’t cut me up nor follow so closely behind me that it’s obscene, during the heat of the summer.  Because I become something other than the sweet thing you might think I am to look at me.  Trust me.  Mightier men than you have tried to show me, ‘the little woman’, that their driving is wonderful …  and I’ve left them crying and sucking their thumbs.  DRIVE NICELY in the summer, around where I live,  or else!  You have been warned.

Well … this last week it’s been hot.  Very hot.  Too hot.  VERY MUCH too hot.  We have ceiling fans …  but even those aren’t helping.  They seem to just be moving hot air around.  And now … I’m feeling like a grumpy moo.  I’m hot.  I’m sticky.  And I’m not in a great mood.

Note to self:  When I win the lottery (big time), I’m going to pay someone to fan me.  I shall lay on a bed of hand-made cotton mattresses – 8 deep. (Think Princess and the Pea), wearing nothing but a muslin ‘gown’ (designed by a tent maker), and be fanned by my personal fanner.  Ahhh… just the thought is putting my mood right.  😀

Kind of on the same subject ...  I also learned this week that my Grandsons (Little Cobs) school has been forced to employ a parking attendant for when mummies and daddies collect their darlings from school at the end of the day.  (3pm)

I learned that this parking attendant (a tall man of somewhere between 30 to 40) has let the job title, and the yellow High Vis jacket (much like the motorway police wear) go to his head, and he’s become a bossy so and so.

I watched him, as I was sat roasting at the equivalent to Gas Mark 6, in my car, in the full sun.  He arrived on site and without even leaving his car, he wound down the window and instantly told a woman to move her car out of the reserved parking space. (Which she did.  A rookie mistake)  He then parked his car in that space, got out of his car, put on his yellow High Visibility jacket and then walked over to her where she’d now parked her car on the corner of a bend on the school grounds, and directed her to go and park on the road outside the school.

It was at this point that Mr.Cobs was to hear me say, low and in a rather wishful thinking voice:  “Ohhhh….  I DO hope he comes here and tells me where to park my car”.

Because Little Cobs has a disability (Cerebral Palsy) his mummy and daddy are allowed to park on the school grounds to collect their son.  However, we are sometimes called into action to collect him.  And the problem is that although the school know when we will be coming (instead of Mommy or Daddy), we don’t have the special parking permit which one is supposed to display in order to park on the premises.  So, strictly speaking, he should have noticed that I was parked without a permit.

I was hot.  Roasting in the direct sunshine, and I saw him being a little officious and pumped up at wearing his High Vis. jacket.  I SO wanted him to come to my car and attempt to ‘talk to the little lady’ (me) about parking else where.  I so wanted to explain to him that the only place I would be parking my car other than right where it was,  would require him to bend over.

He went to another car and told the driver off for parking where they were parked.  Yet…. they weren’t in anyone’s way, and they had just loaded a disabled grandchild into the car.  (More grandparents in the same situation as us).  The gentleman behind the wheel obviously told him in a polite way that he wasn’t moving the car because there was another child to collect ….  but he would move the car once said child was collected.

Again…  I voicedGo on…  come and tell me to move my car“.  He didn’t.  Maybe he recognised a woman who was suffering the heat of being baked in a tin box, waiting for a ‘challenging situation’ to happen.  Whatever it was, he gave my car a miss.  Maybe …  next time.  🙂

Well … I’m pretty certain that there are more things which I’ve learned this week, however, my head’s a colander and things drain out of those holes, even when I try to stop them from falling out.

However … we now are in requirement of a few jokes, so without further ado, I give you . . .

THE JOKES

A woman called the airline
customer-service desk asking if she could take her dog on board.

“Sure,”  said customer services, “as long as you provide your own kennel.”   They further explained that the kennel needed to be large enough for the dog to stand up, sit down, turn around, and roll over.

The customer was flummoxed:
“I’ll never be able to teach him all of that by tomorrow!”

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Your words brought tears to my eyes again…we need to cry about what happened in Manchester…so that we can understand and comprehend the depth of our emotions. I have been sad and wistful and deep in thought all week. Before my great-great grandfather came to the the United States, he lived with his parents and near other relatives in Oldham…just a bit over seven miles from the concert arena. Their last name was Wolfenden and I have found myself wondering if anyone by that last name was injured or worse. I have always felt close in my heart to the area, but now…so much closer.

    1. Hello Kindergarten
Thank you for coming and sharing a coffee with me.

Maybe you should research your family roots and check out your Ancestry.

Daughter No.1 did this a couple of years ago and found it really quite easy to do with the help of an on-line genealogy thing, which she paid to join in order to do this. She managed to go back quite a way – so I reckon that with a more unusual name as your great, great Grandfather had, you might in luck and able to find any relatives who may still be living on this green and pleasnt land.

Whilst writing … Could you give me a direct link to your blog please? I’ve tried everything I can think of to try and find your blog but I’m being met with either a blank page, or a warning box. So could you give me a link to your home page so that I can find you? Many thanks.

Thank you so much for coming and for giving us the chance to chat together.
Always love seeing you.~ Cobs. x

      1. Thank you for your reply, Cobs! The link to my blog is

My blog is also WordPress…I began blogging in March, 2016! So much fun and I have met some wonderful new friends!

I am a member of Ancestry.com and I’ve been working on our family tree for about five years!! I am researching my maternal and paternal sides as well as my husband’s. Typical…I had HAD to make it as complicated as possible! I do still have relatives in Oldham and nearby locations. We also completed the DNA this past year. We are hoping to come to England within the next year…as soon as my husband retires. They have sold his company after negotiating the sale for 1 1/2 years! He is now closing out the books and everything with the original company. It will take about another month! And then…hopefully…some travel! And moving at least part-time to our farm…about two hours from Dallas/Fort Worth where we live!

        1. You have a busy time coming up, Kindergarten!

Thrilled to hear that you’re with Ancestry.com and already on the trail of relatives. I hope that your DNA tests prove to be helpful in moving forward.

Travelling … this will be a wonderful time for you. You’ll be able to accomplish things you’ve only, up till now, been able to dream of doing. Now is your time. Now is the dream time. Aw, I’m totally thrilled for you.

Moving part time to your farm … Wouldn’t you like to do it full time? Or do you have responsiblities which require you to split the time?

You must be filled with happy bubbles about how this is all coming together for you both. Well done. You’ve waited a long time, and now the dream is going to be yours. 😀

  2. Hello Cobs, It was just awful to hear the news from Manchester on Monday. Its heart breaking. My daughter is only 8 (and three quarters!) but they grow up so fast. Only the other day she came home from school and told me that they had been discussing Donald Trump and some of his ideas so I felt it best that I told her about the terrorist attack before she found out on the play ground. How on earth do you explain the reasoning behind it to a child? You can’t is the answer because unless you are of a similar mind you will never understand.

Anyway, onto a lighter topic, your description of the parking attendant was hilarious. I wish he had come over to challenge you. I would love to read your reply one day 😀

Hope you are not melting too much today – air conditioning should really be fitted to homes now. Who cares that we only get one good week a year but maybe that’s the problem we are just so used to cold and grey that we don’t know what to do with warm and bright! Hannah xx

    1. Hello fabulous Hannah.
It’s kind of saddening that these little people at just 8 years old, are discussing politics and Donald Trump at school. On the other hand it shows a greater learning and understanding than perhaps we had when we were little.

hmmm… I wish they had the care free we had Hannah. Politics didn’t ever come into the equasion when I was 8. I just wanted to sing, swing, play, make my own perfume from flowers (oh my goodness it stunk!)

I think you’re amazing at explaining the bombing in Manchester to her. I wouldn’t know where to start … but saying that, when you’re the mom of little ones you just take a deep breath and have no option but to begin and let your brain take you where you need to go.
Well done my fabulous blogging friend.

The Parking Attendant … ohhh… isn’t he the real deal? LOL.
It’s probably fate which directed him not to come to my car, because I swear to Dog I would have chewed his ears off. I was waaaaay too hot, and in waaaay too much pain to deal with some bloke who took himself too seriously. lol

Today … yup, I was melting … but I understand, from what the weather girl said on the end of the news, that it’s going to get cooler tomorrow. YAY FOR COOLER!

You’re right … we’re so used to cooler days with grey (with a touch of blue) skies that when it gets hot, we all end up like wilted daisies.

Hope you and yours are all well and fighting fit, and not wilting in the heat.

      1. Cooler with rain and thunderstorms is the forecast for here. It will be a relief as I have been stuck indoors for 3 days with my son who is very unwell again (too tired to even lift his head or eat, painful ear, full of snot. I will admit this boy make me worry).

My daughter has knowledge far beyond her years. Her school is very good and seem to have explained certain things very well but there is the information passed on by other children that makes my heart ache. When did 8 year olds become so wise about adult issues? Oh well, I could go on all day.

It’s half term now so hopefully you won’t have to argue with the school parking attendant for at least another week! Love Hxx

        1. Hi Hannah … has poorly son been seen by a doctor? He sounds like he needs a good course of Antibiotics. I know they don’t like handing them out now … but there are needs, and I really think your little one has a need.

I can fully understand why you’re worried. Don’t let them mess you around Hannah. You’re his mom. You know him better than anyone else. If you feel there’s something wrong, then make them hear you. Ask them to give him what you feel he needs, or ask them if they would be happy if this were their son. If they instantly say “yes”, look them fair and square in the eye and ask: “Seriously???”. If you’re happy with how they handle that then do what you feel is right for the young man there.

I’m totally with you on your question to the universe: “When did 8 year olds become so wise about adult issues?”. It’s such a sadness wrapped up in a short sentence.

I always wanted my girls to be given every chance to grow up slowly. To be little girls for as long as they wanted to be.
Daughter No.1 wanted to be a grown up from the age of around 3.
Daughter No.2 still wants to be a little girl… even said so a few weeks ago, and she’s coming up to her 30th birthday, bless her.

The world now seems to ask so much of our children. It makes demands upon them that they really aren’t ready for.
It makes me so desperately sad.
I’m not sure what the answer to this is. Perhaps, maybe … go back some years and don’t let computers be invented? Stop Facebook in it’s tracks? [sigh]. I don’t know. I really don’t know.

Sending heaps of love … and hoping that your son is on the mend very soon.

          1. The internet is the downfall of childhood. You can’t monitor theme every second and games aimed at children have fighting and killing in. It’s just wrong.

We had a trip to the emergency doctors on Thursday but she couldn’t find anything wrong apart from a waxy ear. I mentioned my concerns over his general level of health and I’m told it’s all normal. I have two kids, two nephews and my kids have friends – I know his health and level of tiredness isn’t right. Going to take it up with our paediatrician. Difficult to know at times could be a result of his acquired brain injury too. Hxx

            1. Hello Hannah.
Mums (and dads) can sometimes be pushed out of a consulting room with a platitude, and I hate to hear that happen.

I know from Daughter No.2 how difficult it was to get her treatment for a hearing problem which I KNEW she had from the age of around 16months old. It took me until she was 5 years old and already at first school to get an appointment with a specialist, who did one test, called me into the room afterwards and said: “Mrs.Cobs, your daughter has a severe hearing loss” … I was so tightly wound up, waiting to fight the fight and get more done, that when he said that she was almost deaf in one ear and the other ear wasn’t making up for it … I burst into tears.

Not because it was bad news (although it’s not something a parent wants to hear) but because I’d finally found someone who could see that something was wrong and I wasn’t a crazy person who was imagining that her daughter was deaf.

But .. because of this, I vowed to always encourage parents to believe themselves when it comes to their children, and press for decent treatment.

You press on Hannah. You know your own know.
It could be something simple like a lack of a certain vitamin, or even something which is upsetting the balance within his body. Allergy, lack of sun (so needed one of those sun lights) … anything. Anyhing at all.

You’re not crazy Hannah. Don’t let them convince you that you are.

Sending prayers, heaven bound, that this little mite of yours is made well, very soon. And that he returns to fighting fit and full of rascal.

  3. There are truly no words to express the dire situation this world is in. And the problem is I’m afraid it will only get worse. Some people just don’t want to get along much less live in harmony with our God and his people.
Isn’t it funny how a uniform can change someones total being? My BnL was once a policeman and when
he got in uniform he was THE man. Even my young sons could tell the difference. LOL

    1. Hello Beverly 😀
The World does have some terrible moments, I agree. But I truly believe that we hold the answer, Bev.

God gave us this incredible garden in which to live, and some people are making a right old mess of it. However, this isn’t a new thing. This has been happening throughout history.

I am of the belief that we hold the answer to this problem, and me personally … I don’t think it’s in the type of retaliation which ends up with a bomb for a bomb.

We have to pull together, for the sake of humanity, and use our brains. We must THINK what it is which God is waiting for us to see. He wants us to work this out in the way He would want us to. We just need to pull together, and *think*.

Ahhh … the High Visibility Jacket Parking Attendant at Little Cobs school. lol
He really was taking the ‘job’ a step too far. I felt so desperately sorry for the lady he forced out of a parking space. He didn’t even have the tact or diplomacy to get out of his car and speak to her. He sat there, with his engine running, and raised his voice and yelled his instructions.

I was almost willing him to come to me in my car in the end. It was like making a wish on a star … “Please let him come to me. Please let him come to my car and speak to me”.
      LOL

The Amazon reviews …. I only read reviews there if I’m going to buy something. So I didn’t know about this ‘one-upmanship’ funnies in the reviews either.

But … I bet there are somethings there that the ‘funny reviews’ can get a little .. erm … rudey lewdy! LOL. (Not going to seek them out, I’m ok with not knowing for sure. LOL)

Squidges, squishes and heaps of love to you, and yours. ~ Cobs. x

  4. Dear Cobs,
My heart broke when I heard the awful news from Manchester too. Here in the US we have had our share of senseless tragedy as well and the world can only do just as you and Chicken Grandma so eloquently said. We must be the light. We must be the examples for our children, for our neighbors, for our enemies. We must love harder and farther than we think we can.
    ****************************************
Do you think that Mr. Cobs may have been secretly signalling the Parking Lot Czar to not approach your vehicle?
I do suspect men of having secret hand signals and sign language specifically designed for warning each other to beware of the female infernos. We are like little volcanoes aren’t we – I know I am. Everything seems lovely until the heat makes us bubble up under our skin and we lose our tops! The path of destruction can go on for miles!
Our weather is drizzly droopy and drugdy today (I’m not sure if drudgy is a word but I am using it nonetheless). I am only tolerating it because it is not windy or cold and I don’t need to venture outside. I rather like the emerald-ish sheen that softly raining days paint the very air, grass and trees with. It looks like fairies have thrown a bucket of viridian watercolors across the land.
It puts me in the mood for a little nap.
Bright blessings and much love to everyone everywhere but especially to you and yours Lovely Cobs!!

    1. Hello Tami.
I agree we do indeed need to come together and “love harder and farther than we think we can.” In order to over-come what we are being faced with.

I don’t think Mr.Cobs gave that parking attendant any secret signals which would save his ego from the lash of my tongue. To be honest … I think Mr.Cobs agreed with me, at least … from what he called him at any rate. lol

I also agree that everything is lovely with us girls until the the heat makes us bubble up … but I do try very hard to keep it under control … until of course, some idiot puts on a High Vis jacket and thinks he’s THE RULER OF THE WORLD!
It’s at *that* point that the angel on my shoulder passes out and because I’ve lost my voice of reason whispering in my ear, I can then turn into some sort of super-hero, talking on behalf of humans everywhere, and reminding those officious little men (in this case it was a man) that they’re not “all that” so they’d better wise up before I get really cross and ______________ (fill in blank space).

DRUDGY … I think that if it isn’t a word, then it SHOULD BE!!! It’s perfect. It sums up all that feeling and descriptive words which all together mean that one word. Drudgy. Perfect.

Thank you so much for coming Tati. You know how much I love word ‘jousting’ fun with you. SUCH a total joy! 😀 😀 😀

Sending oodles of love, buckets of squidges and a special squish just for you, to you and yours. ~ Cobs. x ❤ ❤

  5. Oh Mrs Cobs, your post was a welcome bit of light relief after a tough day. Mr C had his op and all went well, but I am a natural worrier and all that worrying has worn me put today! I am not a fan of hot weather, or bad drivers. But when someone cuts you up, your hand signals have more impact when done out of an open window. (I know that is terribly naughty but I only had Mr C in the car, post op, and I had to brake sharply to avoid hitting the other vehicle who had chosen not to look before pulling out. Poor Mr C was luckily still numb from anaesthetic but I was so cross. Anyway, fab post as always, have a great weekend x x

    1. Hello Mrs. Craft.
Aw it’s so lovely to hear that Mr.Craft had his surgery and is now safely home again. Like you, I too am a worrier and I can imagine how worn out you are. I bet you were all wound up and had been for days. Each day you got tighter wound, and tighter, and tighter… until it was all over and done with and you finally managed to exhale and you de-flated like a balloon which had a slow puncture!

It will take you a few days to get back to normal service. Give yourself chance.

So happy to have given you a few smiles from this post. You needed some light entertainment … and my grizzling about the weather, school parking chap and …. well pretty much everything. lol… was just what you needed.

All I need now is for the rain to come and cool this corner of the UK down to a heat that I can manage. Right now, I feel like I need to jump in the shower about 5 times a day. Not because I’m dirty or smelly …. but simply to cool myself down.

Weather girl on TV has promised it’s going to be cooler tomorrow. I hope she’s right … cause Little Cobs is coming for the day …. and he needs a fully alert Grammy, not a half expired one! lol.

Have a truly happy weekend Mrs. C.

  6. We were grieving with Manchester, too.

I came late to Indian food. John doesn’t like anything foreign, although he makes exceptions for Italian dishes and heritage meals from his Norwegian and German backgrounds. I didn’t go to an Indian restaurant until friends invited me. Son John likes it, so we go once in a while when hubby is not with us. There are many more Indian places in New York than in North Carolina. We have more Mexican eateries here.

A friend who grew up in the mid-West told me a secret for keeping cool in the summer. She was born in 1890 when air conditioning didn’t exist. She took a face cloth, dipped it in cool water, wrung it out, and laid it on her arm. When it became warm, she’d whirl it around, letting evaporation cool it. She put it on the other arm. Sometimes she put it on her neck. I did that in NY, and it was even cooler if you sat near a fan. Maybe you could try taking a wet cloth with you when you pick up little Cobs. If Mr High and Mighty told you to move your car, you could swat him in the face with the cloth. I hope cooler weather comes to you soon. We had a few sticky days in Surrey, but I don’t remember it being as bad as where you are.

    1. Hello Anne.
      Lovely to see you.

I didn’t like Indian food, not even the smell. It would seriously upset my stomach and I could ‘smell’ it for days afterwards – even though there was nothing near me which smelled even a bit like it. I think the aroma just affected me so badly that my brain held onto the smell for some odd reason. It’s funny how various things can cause a re-action in some folks.

Ooo… your friends idea about keeping cool using a face cloth … I can imagine that being helpful. I think I will give that a go and see if it works.

Thankfully (fingers crossed) the weather girl on TV after the news earlier this evening, said that it was going to be cooler tomorrow. So I’m crossing my fingers that this is so.
Thank you so much for visiting Anne. Love seeing you.
Hoping you have a wonderful weekend. ~ Cobs. 🙂

    1. Hello Rabbit, and thank you. All your prayers are very welcomed by us right now. Every one of them is as important as another, for they are all wrapped in an amount of love, and it is the world coming together in Love which is how the World is going to overcome.

        1. Hello again, my beautiful Rabbit friend.
Thank you so much for your caring, loving comment. I’m so very touched by your words, my dear blogging friend.

It’s still a little cooler than last weekend here, for which I’m very grateful. It’s enabled Mr.C to do some gardening, and it’s looking very lovely out there. He’s painted the decking and moved the potted plants around now that summers here. Those that need more sun can come out of protection and stand loud and proud, as they turn their faces and leaves towards the sun, basking in the warmth of the rays.

Thank you so much for your lovely words.
Bless you, Rabbit. (I know it’s Michele now, but I shall always think of you as my beautiful friend,Rabbit)

  7. I was so saddened to hear of the terrible tragedy in Manchester. There have been way too many of these incidents in the world, but this one has to be the worst. So many young children scarred for life. Senseless! To call your mother and apologize and then prevent so many others from the opportunity to speak with their parents. The internet can be a great learning tool, but it has it’s downside with so much nonsense things that some people will believe to be true. Young minds can easily be shaped and molded. We need to change this! We all need to band together. Enough is enough. Something has to be done!

I loved reading the “rating” of the Amazon item! I’ve seen some pretty funny reviews on Amazon before, but I think this has to be the funniest so far!

I do believe when you went to pick up your grandson, the angels were protecting you! They kept him away from you as he wouldn’t have liked what you would have to say! LOL!

I love summer! You can have the cold weather, snow, and ice that we get. Oh, and the wind chills! When they dip to -30 F, I don’t want to leave my nice warm bed. It’s warm in the house, but you just get chills when you take a peak outside. A couple of winters ago, we had a terrible ice storm that pulled down the power poles. We were without power for 5 days…and it was cold! We build a fire in the fireplace, but still could not get the house any warmer than 45 F. Going to bed with two sweat suits, a couple of sweaters, and under 3 blankets was no fun! We couldn’t leave the house because the wires were across our driveway blocking our vehicles in. I much prefer sitting on the beach in a much warmer climate! Hopefully in 3-4 years we will move to a warmer climate! LOL!

Well, with three days off (yeah a holiday on Monday!) I’m hoping to get some crafting done…among other things! Have a good weekend, and I look forward to catching up next Friday! 🙂

    1. Hello Nancee
      Lovely to see you. 🙂

The internet . . . I do agree that the internet, although great, it does, as you say, have its downside.
Regular daily life is policed by not just the Law, (ie. the police and all the laws which are the rules which ensure as decent behaviour as possible), but the internet has no police and no hard set laws.

We need daily, wide spread policing of the internet. Each provider should be held responsible for whatever happens under their ‘name’. Each of the social media’s needs much stronger rules, regulations and policing in a powerful, forceful way. Anything of a dubious nature needs to be either non-allowable (a programme to remove any ‘hot’ words would filter a posting out) or removed within a very short time (less than an hour). The internet HAS to be policed way better than they (whoever ‘they’ might be) are currently saying it is.

We should not take them saying it’s impossible. If they think it’s impossible, then they should get larger groups of mothers together in every country and they’d tell them what needs to be done. It’s down to the internet providers to make the programs, and employ staff who’s jobs will be purely to police the internet and make the changes which the programs miss, and it is this which will make the policing work.

To be honest .. if I was in charge … the first thing I’d do is take down Facebook. Remove it altogether. Then I’d look at every single one of the other social medias -and if it was shown to be something which needed deeply involved policing, it would be removed too.
Harsh, yes, but it would prove to be very beneficial to the whole world.

      OK…stepping down from platform.

      Your cold weather!!!! Dear Dog!
I cannot even begin to imagine how I would cope with that, or even how you live with it. I know that you double up clothes and wear coats and winter outters inside you homes, but … it doesn’t take away that things are SO harsh and almost unlivable.

Those power cables … that would scare me to bits!
(We have no over-head power cables here in the UK, everything is underground).
Having those cables across your driveway must have been worrying.
I can see why you’re planning to move to a warmer climate asap!

Crumbs, I feel like setting up a donation thing so that we can get you moved away from there in the next couple of months!!!

A few days for crafting!! YAY!
Don’t use the time to clean up … you’ll do that any day. Go crazy and enjoy yourself. Life is too short not to!

Have a wonderful extended weekend Nancee. May the weather be just right for whatever it is you choose to do.
May next week be one of those easy, gentle feeling weeks which bring with it a sense of ‘blessed’.
Sending oodles of hugs ~ Cobs. x

      1. I agree that there should be stronger controls over the social media. I do like Facebook as this is how I can see photos of my Grandson, but there is lot of “garbage” on there. I just delete posts that I don’t want to see, some of them should not be on there at all! It should be monitored a lot more! Perhaps a delay of putting up posts until they have been looked at by some one who has some controls over what is posted???

Some neighborhoods do have underground wires, but we live outside of the city, so all of ours are overhead. They should be underground, though, as during the spring we have a lot of storms, including tornadoes. They do cause a lot of power outages! We do get a couple of months to enjoy warmer weather. Usually, June, July, and August are a little warmer with July usually being the hottest. We can have temperatures of 90+ F. Such extreme changes in our weather! I would like to do without Winter all together. Spring is not so bad, except for the storms. Autumn can be so pretty with the changes of color in the leaves, but then we know winter is coming. Yuk!

So far today I have been able to spend time in my craft room. I need to get my blog posts updated, so I will probably work on that in the morning. Due to the holiday, we will be having family over both on Sunday and Monday. I’m hoping to squeeze in some more crafting time!

Have a good rest of the weekend and an even better week! 🙂

        1. Hello Nancee.
I agree, underground wires would be so much better for all concerned, and SO much safer too.

Like you, I’d do without the harsh winters, but I’d add the hot hot summertime too, for it makes me feel like a wilted dandelion.

Good to hear you’ve managed a little time in your craft room.
Havea wonderful time in the company of your family.
May your time with them be wonderful and happy. Remember to stop at some point and feel the love in the room where you’re all gathered together. It’s a magial feeling.

Have both a blessed extended weekend, and week.

  8. Hello Dear Cobs! Just home from a lovely week at the beach with the family and I decided to pay you a visit. I so glad I did as this post was so heartwarming. Praying for all of you in light of the horrific events that took place this past week. Life is so beautiful, and we cannot let the ugly put out our lights. Sending you hugs! K

    1. Hello dearest Kathy.
I’m so thrilled to see you.
Wordpress have done some updates and changes to their site, and in doing so many of us bloggers have experienced some problems with blogs we follow. Either we didn’t get any updates about new blog posts which blogs we follow made, or some blogs went missing from our follow list and we lost them altogether.

Your blog was in the latter, and for the life of me I couldn’t remember the name of your blog. I tried every combination I could think of (I knew it began with Kathy … but not what came after that!).

Suddenly, a couple of days ago, the back of my brain shouted to the front of my brain and my head screamed BY DESIGN! I asked Mr.Google, and he came up with the goods! lol.

So I came for a quick visit so that I could re-pick up your blog details and save them again to my follows. Hence the reason you got a calling card from me! lol

Thank you so much, lovely Kathy, for coming for a visit.
Happy to hear about your break away at the beach with your family. Thank you so much for your prayers for the people of my home land. They are very much welcomed and appreciated. We are all pulling together, united in love and I’m so proud of us, and how we are all coping with this barbaric taking of innocent lives.
Thank you again for coming Kathy. I’ve missed you! ❤

  9. I share your sadness over Manchester but I am heartened to see that so many people have responded with love in their hearts across all denominations..
I loved the toilet brush comment and I was so wishing you could have had a little conversation with the parking attendant😉
We had lots of lovely sunshine here too so I downed tools and went to the beach twice. The sea was lovely and warm so I braved a few deep paddles. Wonderful. 😊
    Happy weekend. X

    1. Hello Daisies.
I am so proud of the people of my country. They have pulled together in unity and all of them speak of love.

I too was wishing to have a delighful conversation with the Parking Attendant. Might not have been one he enjoyed, but it would have made me happy. Funny thing is that I don’t lose my temper when I’m cross. I get quieter and I lower my voice by an octave, pronounce my words really carefully and more slowly. I think that’s what puts me ‘in charge’ of the situation. Oh … and I don’t take prisoners. LOL

Your day sounds wonderful. Time at the beach is never wasted. I don’t care how much there is to do at home, the beach wins every single time.
Good for you for having some deep paddles … had I been there with you, I’d have done the very same thing! We could have had a bit of splashing fun. LOL.
Have a truly beautiful weekend Daisies.

  10. Cobs, I totally sympathise on parking and driving issues, as I explained before, so I have a suggestion, we desperately need your jobsworth to come here and sort our bad parking people out so we are happy for him to come here. Just bundle him up in the boot of your car, oops I meant carefully transport him to me and I promise to make good use of him, scouts honour! 🙂 x

    1. Inside my head there is this little cartoon playing, and I can see how it could happen.

Sadly … I’m not brave enough to take on the bundling of anyone into a pair of boots, let alone the boot of a car! LOL.

However, I’ll let him know where his style of Parking Attendant is required, and even offer him the bus fare to get him to you. After that … he’s your responsibility. :/

  11. I swear the whole world has gone mad ~ there is too much suffering in the world as it is without anyone using the name of their God to commit atrocities.
Parking outside Moo’s school sounds as chaotic as Little Cobs ~ without said parking attendant I hasten to add, in fact I actually park the the edge of the one way system & walk just under a mile through town to Moo’s school as it’s actually QUICKER to do that than battle the traffic, obviously you need to be on the school grounds so your young man can have safe and convenient access to the car …. never mind I’m sure the traffic attendant will make your day and ‘chat’ to you soon about your parking ‘violation’ please take shorthand notes during said conversation so you can update your followers on the ensuing battle LOL
    Have a lovely week
    Take care xx

    1. LOL … shorthand notes? If the school parking man feels brave and comes to have a chat with me, I’ll record the chat on my phone (if I can do it without loosing a brain cell) and share it with everyone! I spoke to Daughter No.2 about him (Little Cobs mummy) and the moment I said “Car Parking Attendant” she instantly groaned, and without me going any further she told me what a “total _________” he was. (word removed for the genteel)LOL.

Hope things are hunky-dory in your world, and that everything is going to plan and working like clockwork.
