A Ring of Roses!

Happy Monday!  I hope your week gets off to a great start and continues in that fashion.

I’m here to share a little, easy to put together card today.  Although I have a plentiful supply of ready folded and scored craft (Kraft) cards and I absolutely love cards which are made using them …  I very rarely seem to make a card with them.  It’s the strangest thing.  I always reach for white card!  Why is that I wonder?  Bugs the life out of me!

Anyhoo ….  I made this card... consisting of some hand painted  (by me)  folksy style roses on black card, matted and layered onto some die cut white and pink card,  then fixed to a 5.5″ square Kraft/Craft card, and with the addition of a warm pink grosgrain ribbon.

A Ring of Roses 3

The central ‘picture’ of the single rose, is an enamelled brad,  which I fixed onto a circle of die cut white card,  and then attached it to the inside of the card.  (with the addition of some bakers twine tied into a bow)

A Ring of Roses 5

Finally, I added some pink enamelled dots to the corners of the front of the card and VOILA!  A circle of roses on a card …. which will fit into a regular envelope!

And that’s all there was to it!

Mondays can be really miserable days …. but only if YOU let them be.  Make up your mind to have a great day today.  It’s a choice.  Make the choice.

I wish you a truly lovely day.  Please  . . .  share a smile with someone.  Your smile could make a whole lot of difference to someone’s day.

Sending you love and squidges …. and sharing a smile with you  😀

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  3. Adore this card Cobs. What a fabulous design. Beautiful roses. I have always loved the castles and roses on canal barges ever since I was a little girl. This really reminds me of those. Must get some paints out.
Have a lovely day and fabulous week.

            1. I’d be happy to meet you in the middle, tie our boats together, and have a picnic, right there in the middle of the ocean. But …. that bloomin’ ocean needs to grow a huge great big amount smaller, because I’m not the strongest crazy in the box, so these arms will only do the row, row, row y’ boat gently down the stream ….. before they (possibly) drop off!

              Row row row y’ boat
              with a gentle motion
So that Jessica and I will have
              BIG FUN on the Ocean!

Oh my word … I’m a poet and I didn’t know it. LOLOLOL.

  6. Well, it is Wednesday, but I’m still sending a smile to you because of the charm of the card you created and the way your words, “And that’s all there was to it!” made me chuckle as I thought, “Easy for Cobs to say!” All in all, you delight me.

    1. Ohhhh Aunt Beulah, you have given me the smile I’d lost today. It went on a trip earlier on today and I didn’t notice that it had wandered off … but … you helped me find it again.
      Bless your beauiful heart.

  7. Oh what a great card! I too, love cards on kraft paper but seem to forget about it! I’ve seen a lot of colored pencil images done on kraft paper and they look awesome! I need to get my pencils out and use them! LOL! Have a great week (even though I have fallen behind on checking the blogs I follow…but hey, we are half way to the weekend!) LOL! 🙂

    1. Hello Nancee, lovely to see you! 😀
Aw thank you so much for coming and for your lovely words about the card. I’ve made a slight adjustment to that card since I posted it on Monday …. in those blank Kraft Card places you see around the ring of roses, I took a very fine nibbed black pen and sort of randomly scribbled little wiggles and hoops and curves so that it was no longer just blank kraft card, and the black squiggles team nicely with the black card the roses are planted on.

Ohhh yes! I’ve seen cards which are made on kraft card, but then coloured up with pencils. They look so filled with charm. You should try it! And blog about it! So we can all drool over them. 😀

    1. Hello Chicken.
Thank you for your lovely message.
Good to hear you had a great Monday. I shall be over to your blog later to catch up.

The rains …. Oh. My. Stars!!! Yes we had them here. It rained so hard that we couldn’t stand in our conservatory and talk, because we couldn’t hear ourselves. The rain hit the roof like never before and the noise was absolutely awful.

The poor dog wouldn’t go out into the garden for a tiddle. (She had to in the end because she was plaiting her legs, bless her!)

But … the garden looks happier for a drenching, and, thankfully, nothing was damaged, so, as you so rightly say, life is indeed good!
