Things I’ve Learned This Week.

Hello, good morning and …. HAPPY FRIDAY!

I don’t know about you, but Fridays give me this funny little feeling somewhere between my tummy button and my … erm … my uhm  …  chest. (phew – that was touch and go there for a minute).  It’s an odd sort of feeling,  like my body is having a quiet giggle to itself.  A cross between a giggle and a tickle – but right inside me.  In the centre of my body.  Funniest little feeling.  Nice one though.

Aww … hush up Cobs.  Get on with the post already!

Right .. you’re here to read about how I’ve had my edumacation improved this week, so without further ado, I shall plunge straight in and get on with it.

This week I learned . . . that Liechtenstein is a tiny, doubly landlocked country tucked away between Switzerland and Austria.  It owes much of its wealth to its traditional status as a tax haven, though it has in recent years taken steps to shake off its image as a tax haven and to reposition itself as a legitimate financial centre.

However …  do you know that Liechtenstein is the Worlds Leading Manufacturer in  _______.   If you don’t know the answer to that …. have a guess.  Think about the country.  Think about where it is.  Imagine what you think that Liechtenstein is the Worlds Leading Manufacturer in.  Just take a wild guess.

Vaduz Castle, overlooking the capital, is home to the Prince of Liechtenstein

Let’s see if you guessed correctly shall we?  In actual fact, Liechtenstein is the Worlds Leading Manufacturer in  —>left click on your mouse and hold the click as you drag your cursor over this blank spot here —>FALSE TEETH<—  😀   If you’re anything like me you’ll have guessed that it would be some sort of speciality Beer.  But no…  such a beautiful place with such romantic feel about it – who could have guessed that fact?  lol

If you’d like to learn a little more about this enchanting place you can read more here:  The Spectator – Liechtenstein  the link will open up in another page for you.  If when the page loads, it asks you to ‘join up’ to their site, either close that smaller window or simply click back, then click forward and the Spectators efforts to get you to sign up will disappear so that you can read.

Now thenwhat else have I learned this week?….  ohhhhh… I know…

I learned this week that when you have a plan,  the world laughs at you and makes other plans just to see how you handle the new stuff which life has thrown at you.

My craft room is all set up in our converted garage.  The whole thing was already converted when we bought the cottage – so it seemed to be fate that brought us to it.

It took about a year before we were able to set up the room properly so that I could craft in it.  (we had to do renovations to the cottage after we bought it).  And I love it in there.  However … I did have to make a teensy bit of room for our washing machine.  But it’s located at the other end of the room, away from where I sit, so I didn’t bother too much about it.  BUT … this week it suddenly began making the most dreadful noise when it started to spin.  BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!  It got louder too.

So scared was I that I picked up the phone and called Mr.Cobs (he was in the cottage – our phones can call each other – so my phone in the garage can, at the press of a button, call the phone in the house.  It works!.  When Himself answered the phone I had to shout to hear myself talk….  “come to the craft room QUICK!”,   I was scared silly that the Washing Machine was going to suddenly blow up!

Well, shortening the tale … the Washing Machine has gone to Washing Machine Heaven.  So .. a new machine was found, delivery arranged, payment was made AT GREAT EXPENSE I might add!,  (I hope this new machine makes me my coffee, I’m telling you!).  Then Mr.Cobs said he’d have to get the old machine out, ready for the men to make delivery of new machine, and take old machine away with them.  And that’s where the trouble started.

It sounded like such a simple thing – remove old washing machine, make space for new one.  Oh. My. Goodmiss!  I hadn’t quite realised that there was a small(ish) Ikea unit which although not ‘in front’ of our old machine … it was enough in front, to stop the machine moving fully out of its position.  So that unit had to be moved.  Which meant that a whole load of stuff on the unit had to move, and then all the stuff which was on top of the unit had to be moved … and well, shortening the tale even further … a mess the size of a volcano happened.  I haven’t been able to work at my desk(s) all week.  I decided that since we’d got that unit out, then perhaps the best thing would be to re-site it and attach it to the sewing desk, so that the unit wouldn’t be in the way.

I won’t bore you with the jiggling which happened after that, but suffice to say … I could, at 7.30pm on Thursday night (yesterday) finally see a bit of my desk again.    So from all this I learned …  That I rather envied my Grandmother and how she told me about she used to do the washing for her growing family …. in a ‘dolly tub’ in the back garden.  BRING BACK THE DOLLY TUB!  It’s cheaper, and it doesn’t break down!

I also learned this week:  in quick, ‘bullet’ form ….

That . . .  80% of food has sugar added to it.

That . . .  Wasps must wear ‘uniforms’ by smearing themselves with wax from their nest, and then on their return, fellow wasps recognise they are from the same colony and accept them in.

That . . .  Mark Twain invented and patented the bra-strap clasp.  I kid ye not.  This really is true.

That . . .   Abulia is the word for the inability to make decisions.

A musophobist is a person who distrusts poetry.  As someone who will make up a bit of silly poetry at the drop of a hat – this was a real upset to me!

Depp means ‘twit’ in German.  This kind of upset me for a moment, because I used to have rather a soft spot for Johnny Depp …  but then I outgrew him so no longer upset.  🙂

The first commercial chewing gum appeared in 1871, after Thomas Adams had failed to make car tyres from the same ingredients.  Yes … that stopped me in my tracks too when I learned that.

The Pantone colour chart has 104 shades of grey.  So that means  *that fellow*  in  *that ’50 shades’ book*  was well below par.  (snigger I’m so glad that I didn’t read it.

and finally . . .

Male Ladybirds can spend up to four hours mating with a dead female before realising something is wrong.  Ok… I’m going to stand up and admit that I actually laughed.  I’m sorry.  I’m sorry to the Men Ladybirds.  I don’t think I meant to find that funny … but … well … it just kinda snuck up on me and before I knew it I was giggling like a schoolgirl.  (And each time I think of it, I start giggling all over again).  I don’t know why it tickles the heck out of me …  well, maybe I do…  but I’m not going to say.  Let’s just say that I apologise.  (and yes…. I’m giggling right now too).

I’ve learned rather a lot this week.  How I’ve managed to remember all of it so that I can share it with you, is way out of my understanding.  But I’m so glad that I did.  (Especially so the Lady(man)bird one.  LOLOL.  [now stop it Cobs.  Behave yourself!  tsk tsk.]

Well there’s only enough time for some jokes now, so I’d better get on with it….  ready?  OK.. let’s go!

Why did the bicycle fall over?  . . . Because it was two tired!

Why did the prune go out with the raisin?  . . .  They couldn’t find dates!

Did you hear about the corduroy pillow?  . . .   It made the headlines.

Why do they call them light bulbs?  …  Because they don’t weigh very much.

What’s red and looks like a bucket? . . .  A red bucket.

What’s blue and smells like red paint?  . . .  Blue paint

What’s orange and sounds like a parrot?  . . . A carrot

Why does Beethoven hate chickens? . . .  Because all they ask for is Bach Bach Bach Bach Bach.

and finally . . .

What is Beethoven up to now? . . . Decomposing.

I did say that we could talk more about Time Travelling this week … but I ran out of …..  lol.

Truth is, I think I’ve talked more than enough, so I’m going to shut up and give your brain a rest.

Also ….  My apologies to all the crafters out there, because I haven’t shared anything crafty with you this week.  Having had my craft room turned upside down hasn’t helped with any crafty endeavours  … but …  I’m filled with ideas for what I want to do, so I’ll try to be back next week with something lovely to look at.

I have a busy weekend coming ….  I’m hosting Little Cobs Birthday Party in our cottage.  I’ve been busy ordering, buying, finding and all manner of things.  So I’m really looking forward to his party on Saturday (tomorrow).  All I have to remember to do before then is find half an hour to wrap his gifts, instead of realising ten minutes before the party starts, that I haven’t wrapped them!  eeeek!

So … what about you?  Do you have anything planned for this weekend?  Do share.  I’d love to hear about what you’re up to in your corner of the world.

Whatever you’re doing, may you find happiness and joy.  May the weather be what you’d like it to be, and may love enter your life softly, gently, and leave footprints on your heart.  Be good to each other, and . . . may your God go with you.

Brightly woven, cobwebby squidges, to you in your corner, from me in mine  ~

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. You crack me up. Sound like you certainly had a time with your washing machine. Seems like when they call it quits, that’s it. There’s no repairs! Sounds like we have some things in common– lost desk tops. I haven’t seen mine since I started cleaning and packing…

Love your new facts. That’s pretty alarming that 80% of food has sugar in it. Wonder what’s in the other 20%. The one about “twit” made me laugh and so did that one about 104 shades of grey. I never read those books either, so it was especially funny to me. My favorite joke today is about the bicycle. Good one!!

Your party sounds fun. Hope you have the best time. I am not sure of our weekend plans, but it is supposed to be warm again. I hope! It was freezing today and yesterday. Take care, my friend. Jessica

    1. Hello Jessica. Happy Friday!
The washing machine … yes, I most certainly had a time with it. The noise it made was like it had a seriously heavy, big leather working mans boot inside it and it was throwing itself around the drum. But … even that doesn’t describe it. It was SO loud. Scared me to d.e.a.t.h, I’m tellin’ ya!
sigh… They don’t make washing machines like they used to. From what I understand, they’re made now to last only (approximately) five years. Which is just rubbish!

Aw I know your pain about packing up to move house, and not being able to craft. It drove me nuts. Then when we moved to our new home, the most important thing was getting the renovations done – so again, couldn’t craft. So I really do know how you feel.

80% sugar in food … I KNOW!!! I am thinking about trying to get rid of the hidden sugars in our diets, so when I read that I already thought I was onto a loser! Like you say … what’s left? Dog food? Cat food? Budgie seed? :/

Thrilled you liked the jokes. I love a good giggle, so jokes and funnies are so important in my life, and because of that, I simply have to share the smiles with you. lol.

Thank you for your good wishes for the coming weekend. I shall enjoy the Birthday party – who wouldn’t? Cake! Oh …. the sugar! ah bummer. LOL

Sending love and hoping that whatever you do this weekend, brings joy to your heart.

          1. Blogging pals! Love that! I am huge fan of pen pals by mail, but not too many people do it these days. I had one pen pal for 18 years.

There are advantages to this sort of of pen pals, though. Instant reply! ❤️

But .. I do still like doing the ‘Give-aways’, so do please enter when I do one. Because if you win, then you’ll get the mail you like the best! 😀

Watch out for the give-aways and join in Jessica! It’s all done fair and square. I use a random number generator to choose the winning person. So I don’t choose, the number generator does, and I love doing it that way as it makes me feel so much better about what number the choice is.

So yeah … watch out and join in! xx

                    2. Thank you for telling me about the random number generator. I am getting ready to have a contest on my blog’s Facebook page and was trying to figure out how to do it. Last time I made a video of myself drawing a name.

                    3. aw … giggling here. Well now all you have to do is number the names of the people who want to join your contest, and then how ever many people there are, you simply enter that number and ask the RNG to pick you a winner. And as quick as that, it chooses the winner for you.

So far, I’ve been over-joyed to find that it hasn’t picked the same person twice … but it’s going to happen at some point. It has to. lol

I won’t be able to enter your contest as I don’t ‘do’ facebook. But very good luck with it. ~ Cobs. x

  2. Good morning!
Lol…ladybirds….I wondered what they were doing all over the garden…and now I know!!!
Washing machines are hideously expensive…we had to get a new one a while ago too. Apparently when they make that awful banging noise it means the bearings are gone. I have no idea what that means but I thought you might like to know lol!!
    Beethoven jokes…😊😊😊
I hope Little Cobs has a wonderful birthday party, lots of love to you and have a good day 😺 xxx

    1. Hello Samantha! Happy Friday to you. 🙂

Yes … the Lady(men)birds …. every single time I think of that fact, I end up giggling to myself. I mean to say …. FOUR (??) HOURS!! FOUR? ….. lol.

Apparently … the machine … yes something to do with the bearings I think. Like you, I have no real idea what that means, I only know the shockingly, frightening noise it made. Like a bomb was about to blow up!

LOL … Beethoven. Yup .. they’re ticklish. lol.

Thank you for your good wishes for Little Cobs Birthday …. I’m so looking forward to it.
Sending wishes for you too, to have a great weekend.

        1. You and I think the same! I wondered how on earth those little ladybugs ever managed to find time to eat. Perhaps they carry a book with them, hidden under a wing, and take it out at the appropriate time. lol. 😀

Quite frankly, I think the girl ladybirds have it all wrong. I bet they haven’t even got the ‘vote’ yet. We need to introduce them to the Suffragette movement.
There would be no four hour ‘sessions’ then.

            1. The Pankhursts are on the march! We shall make it our aim to re-educated the Ladies of the Ladybird world.

The black ones are called Harlequin Ladybirds. As I understand it, they come mainly from Asia, and they carry some bugs which are transferable between bugs – so our native Ladybirds could catch this disease.

So maybe we should find a replacement for Marie Stopes and get her to hand out education of a different sort. 🙂

After everyone went home, the cottage was put back to ‘normal’, and the floor vacuumed …. we had a drink, and I promptly fell asleep in the chair! lol. I was totally plum tuckered out. But a nice tuckered out.

I love the ladybird emoji! 🐞 aww… how cute is that! …. and, as you so rightly say … appropriate. lol

The Washing Machine … it happens to the best. I think pretty much most of us will experience the same loss. Please, accept my deep gratitude for your unforgettable words of condolence. Although I fear that my grief is routed in the sheer amount of cash it costed to get it replaced!
      :/

The false teeth … it gave me a whole new look to that beautiful little place on earth. Not saying that false teeth are ugly, but they certainly aren’t what I would have expected from a place of such beauty as Liechtenstein! lol.

  3. Oh Cob….the ladybird story is just the tops.,but….I did see a clip on facebook just this last week about a bird ( not sure what kind) that kept on pushing and poking on a ‘dead’ bird until the thing just got up and flew away. Honest ! Nature is just so far beyond the rest of us…..I’ll be back later…the laundry is finished. LOL

    Liked by 1 person

    1. WOW! The bird, perhaps, had been stunned by something – flown into a window, or clipped by a car. Something that had made it lose conscience for a moment – BUT the other bird obviously new to keep pushing and poking to make it wake back up … and it did!

Nature fills me with delight and joy when I hear of things like this.
I know that there are some awful aspects of nature which don’t bear thinking about … but it’s the positive aspects which bring me such hope. And no doubt bring hope to you too.

Hope the laundry is all done and dry by the time you read this. I also hope that if it was the ‘whites’ wash, no stray red/blue/black thing like a sock, got into the mix and made the result which my daughter once made on the first time she used the washing machine.

She’d never worn that shade of delicate pink before. LOLOL.

    1. Hello Chicken,
Before I reply… … I have to tell you that I’m sorry that your comment didn’t receive a reply straight away. The reason for this is that WordPress put it in the Spam folder. I have no idea why the system did this. I’ve had a gazillion comments from you before and it should know that you’re not a spammer in the tiniest sense … but, well, I’ve found the comment now, so I’ve told the system it wasn’t spam, and now I can reply. naughty wordpress! tsk tsk

Yup … the male Lady(man)bird totally floored me, then I giggled and giggled and it turned into a laugh and I couldn’t stop smiling after that.

Washing Machines … they die at some point, and I know I have to accept it, but coo… I could have done without the expense.

The Chicken/Beethoven/Bach joke …. I was actually going to put: “And this one is for Chicken Grandma” … but then it would have had to be my last joke, and I wanted to include that other joke after it, so I left it out …. knowing all the time that you would spot it and KNOW that I was thinking of you when I typed that one out. LOLOL. ❤

You visited Liechtenstein? Aw so envious. It's one of those places that I always thought I'd visit 'one day' – sometime in the future when I didn't have a dog or any cats or any chickens or …. well you get the idea. Problem is that I never ever have no fur or feather friends living with us. And I hate leaving anyone else in charge of them, consequently we don't holiday. But, on the plus side, we now live in a seaside place, so we seem to permanently be on holiday. lol

Love seeing you Chicken … but I don’t have to tell you that, because you already know I love you to the moon and back.

  5. Hello Cobs. Such an interesting round up of the week (poor dead ladybird 😯). Washing machines can be quite impressive in their demise. My previous one just made the most awful noise (only weeks after a repair for a different problem) but the one before that – I shall set the scene instead – very narrow galley kitchen, washing machine filling the room with smoke and me 35 weeks pregnant. Thankfully my husband was also home and came to my rescue 😃 Whilst the dolly tub sounds a cheaper and more romantic notion I really do prefer being able to set the machine and get on with crafting instead of scrubbing everyone’s smalls!

Enjoy little Cobs party. Hannah xx

    1. Yes, I would rather craft … but just think of the weight we’d lose by us doing our washing in a Dolly Tub!! No gym fees – and all it would take is an empty barrel and a type of milking stool attached to a big stick.
      The pounds would pile off!!

But …. more time crafting …. aw, the eternal struggle of choice. LOL

35 weeks pregnant … I can’t imagine a worse time for a washing machine to go kapput! Than heavens Mr.Duck was at home at the time! We shall name him . . . . (drum roll) . . . Super Duck! 😀

        1. I reckon we could do it, y’know.

In years gone by, there were no washing machines, and yet people did their washing… AND … there were no Gym Clubs! We’ve all just got a bit reliant on machinery to do our jobs. It might make our lives easier, but it’s not really helping us in ways which are more important. Yup … dolly tubs I reckon, are the answer to the problem!

Oh … and push mowers for the chaps. 😀

  6. Well we have rain again today, but my day will be cheery enough as I am heading out to the Dahlia society plant and tuber sale!! GRIN I am looking forward to having some more colour around here and Dahlia’s will most certainly deliver!
I am then going to my son’s work to copy out a bunch of ephemera to put on Tim Holtz’s tiny houses and copy some black and white old old family photo’s to use in some sort of project. Maybe put them on a small tag inked with vintage photo or … not really sure but using my own family pics for projects just sounds good to me.
I am sorry about your washer Cobs, what ever would we do without them now. Washing was a real chore back in the day as your photo shows, and some bashing against rocks, I for one, am grateful for the inventor of the washing machine. I do still like those wringer washers but I simply can’t afford one now. They are replicating them by now I’m sure at a cost that most blue collar folks can not afford. Just like the old style fridge and stoves as well. The price on a gas stove was over $5000.00, yup, that much. Who can afford that on a minimum wage salary?!?!!
I must get going if I want to get some good tubers, so cheerio for now.

    1. Hello Soozy!
The Dahlia society plant and tuber sale sounds like something I’d love to tag along with you to. I could do with adding something to my cottage garden, and those sound like the part.

I have plans to add Lupins, as we used to grow those at our old cottage, so I have an enormous soft spot for them. Such beautiful flowers.

The only flower I ever have a problem with is marigolds. I absolutely adore them, …. but the problem is … so do the snails! I had a really pretty border around a patio area, and it was filled with marigolds. I’d organised a family barbeque and the night before it was to be, the snails went to work and ate the head of every single flower and just left stalks. I didn’t know whether to cry or be cross.

It was from that point that Mr Cobs sunk used and washed yoghurt pots into the soil around plants we knew the snails loved, and half filled the pots with cheap beer. The snails went crackers for the free beer, drunk to their hearts content, passed out and then drowned themselves in the beer.

Mr. Cobs was the ‘Dead Body Dealer’. A job he did with diligence every day, then refilled the yoghurt pots . . . and the job was never ending.

The Washing Machine …. ah, it comes to us all. A fact of life. They are terribly expensive, but …. a gas stove for $5000.00?? Hells Bells! At that price I’m surprised anyone bought one!

I hope you found something wonderful from the Dahlia society plant and tuber sale, which made you feel happy!

Thanks for coming Soozy. It’s fabulous to see you.
Have a blessed rest of your day my friend. ~ Cobs. xx

  7. Poor Cobs, deprived of your craft room! The very thought, but you should have just got Mr Cobs to whip you up a new one and have done, so everything fits, probably would have been quicker too! Do sympathise, sounds like a chapter out of my book, and I did laugh about the ’50 shades of grey’ bit, as I did read every, single, book 🙂 (Never been the same since :0!!! ….and as for the word Depp, that made me chuckle too. Another great post Cobs, and happy crafting now your back in the chair 🙂 x

    1. Hello Kim 🙂
Whip me up another craft room? Noooo. I would rather him whip up an extention to the house, and make a utility room, and enough space in there for the storage boxes of household goodies which sit at the same end of the room as the washing machine. (He built shelves for some lovely looking black boxes, which I labelled, and listed everything in each box so that we could find things without having to even lift a lid! lol). But getting rid of those boxes would mean more space for me …. and that would be brilliant. My sewing desk would have a whole wall to itself then, and (because it’s got a laminate floor in there) I could whizz from one end of the craft room to the other, without leaving my chair even! LOLOL (oooo, now there’s a thought! Although mind… I’d probably spend all day just whizzing! LOL)

Do you know, you would have been among the last people I would have guessed had read the 50 shades books. Looking at you in a whole new light now Kim. (lol). Just sayin’ … saying no more. LOL.

Thanks for coming and sharing a coffee moment … and .. thank you also for the fabulous comment. It’s been absolutely brilliant chatting with you. Lots of fun!

  8. I hope order is restored soon in your craft room, washing machines are a pain when they break. Our new one was a revelation with a capacity double that of the old one. It also has a delay timer. You would not believe the (verging on smug) feeling I get as I pop it in before going out for a day, knowing it will be just finished when I get in rather than stagnating all day. That was the moment I knew I was no longer a carefree young person 😂 I have a degree in abulia (only joking, but I’m so good at not making decisions that I should have one!) Have a lovely weekend x x

    1. Aw I’m dreadful over washing machines. I have a set of ‘RULES WHICH WASHING MACHINES MUST OBEY’… and those have to be: As few knobs as possible. No digital display funkery. Not gazillions of choice (hot wash, cool wash, middlin’ wash, long wash, short wash, mixed wash, whites, white cottons, soft woollens, delicates, stiff woollens (there’s a proper name for those but I can’t remember it), lace, under garments, duvets, pillows, .. aw on and on and on they can go. I don’t want that sort of choice!).

Washing machines are already playing with fire, by mixing water and electricity, so add to it a gazillion choices is asking for trouble!

I just want a great washing machine which washes clothes, with, at the most, 5 settings, and three buttons: On/Off; Which Wash Do You Want; Which Spin do you want – Fast or Slow?. and that’s it. Less choices, mean less things to go wrong.

Couldn’t get one like that so got the nearest to it we could find. It still has a tiny window with a Digital Display which tells you what the washing machine thinks you should know. But … on the whole, it’s an OK machine (so far) but I still have to fall in love with it. lol.

Your (almost) degree in Abulia … yes, the older I’ve got the closer I’ve got to that. I don’t know about you, but I question my decision now, asking myself “Are You SURE???” … which slows down the process quite considerably. lol

I should make you an award. One which you can frame and hang on the wall so that people are impressed. They’ll onl find out what it means if they get right up close and personal to the award in order to read the very fine print LOLOLOL.

Thanks for coming and having a coffee with me. It’s been brilliant chatting with you. It’s like being sat around the kitchin table and having a giggle.
Have a blessed rest of your Sunday.

  9. It was very disappointing at the Dahlia sale. There was literally nothing left by 11:00! I mean nothing except a few plants, 5 to be exact and I bought one as I did not want to go home empty handed. It is called a Rembrandt and it is a short plant with red single flowers. Good enough for now. The reason everything was gone is the winter here as been a long one and a cold one most of the time tubers have lots of eyes now and they are big, so good for sale and you can be positive that it is going to grow, but the tubers are just now starting to sprout these eyes, which are like tiny sprouts from the tuber. Anyway, the society was saying, don’t despair, there will be plenty soon enough. I was just a little disappointed because of the drive to get there too. Everyone was smiling tho’ and that is good. The day ended up being a lovely one, got more cedar shavings around and every once in a bit, you get the whiff of cedar and it’s lovely. 🙂
So for this trip Cobs, I’m glad you didn’t come all this way to join me, that would have been bad, but I most certainly wouldn’t mind the company, anytime.
Slugs are already bad here and yes the ol’ beer trick works every time, they can’t resist themselves. 🙂 Talk soon.

    1. Aw sorry to hear what a disappointment the sale was. I wish you lived where I live, as my church, just around the corner from where I live, has regular plant sales (VERY regular) and it’s a great sale to go and shop in. You’d have a good time there, and can even make a whole thing of it by going inside and having tea, coffee, biscuits or cake! And if that’s not enough, just about 30 feet away, around another corner, is a meeting place for anyone in the area to go and meet up with friends and neighbours and have coffee and a chat there too! Aww Jessica, you’d have a fabulous time of it.

Well … I hope that on the next sale they have, that you get there before they ‘open shop’, and manage to buy to your hearts content.
      Sending love ~ Cobs. x

  10. To be honest, Cobs, I can’t really say I’ve thought much about Lichtenstein, apart from the fact that it sounds like a medieval magical paradise. When you revealed what they make there, well, it did take me back a little. Odd really, as someone has to make them.
As for your washing machine, well, welcome to the club! I have everything in the way of everything else – it makes finding something most challenging.
Enjoy your coffee, and have a good Sunday!

    1. Hello Tom, great to see you.
The washing machine … aw, that was an expense I didn’t want, and the mess caused because of it was diabolical!
There was an Ikea unit – I thought it was called a Billy bookcase, but I’ve just looked on the Ikea website and it appears to be now called a Kallax. (this is the one: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/storage-furniture/shelving-units-systems/kallax-shelving-unit-white-art-80275887/ – if you want to go and take a peep). It’s taller and wider, and HEAVIER than it looks in the photograph, and Cobs the Bogeyman tried to move it while still filled with crafting stuff. But I could see it getting rather pushed out of square, so it was unloading time. yuk.). This Ikea unit looked far enough away from the old Washing Machine for the machine to be moved out but it wasn’t quite far enough away, so it had to be re-located. 😦 Once the machine had gone and the new machine put in place … I thought it best not to put the unit back there, as it could happen again. (crosses fingers and wishes hard that it won’t)

I’m sure everything will work better now. (crosses fingers)

      Lovely to see you Tom.
Whilest writing… I’m not seeing your posts in my ‘Reader’ … so I’m going to unfollow you, then follow you again to see if that makes the difference needed. So … if you find me doing that, you’ll know why.

  11. I really want to know what makes Mr Ladybird finally realise his error? Do they just think she is playing hard to get?! My grandmother always harked after her old ‘dolly’ washing machine. Grandad bought her a swanky new front loader when they first came out and she hated it. She swore that it was chasing her around the kitchen when nobody was watching. Good jokes. Hope the party was a great success. Xx

    1. The party was fantabulous! I had so much fun with him and it was such a delight to watch his little face and the great time he was having.

The worst part ? …. After roughly 5 minutes he told … no ….instructed … his mother and father to …”Go home pleease now Mummy and Daddy. Go HOME”.

He was having a real old high time. lol.

Ohhh… I remember my Uncle and Mum saying they would ‘put together’ to buy my Grandma a new front loader, and she was having none of it. She’d seen them in the shops and didn’t trust them at all! She told them they could keep their money if that’s all they (mum and uncle) could come up with for her Birthday! LOLOLOL. God Bless her beautiful heart. She spoke her mind and made no bones about what she thought of things.

Re Mr. Lady(man)bird … probably when she doesn’t tell him anything about how wonderful he is. Either that or maybe it’s when he asks for a cup of tea and she doesn’t respond. lol.
      Bless their misguided little hearts.

      1. Glad the party was a success. Sounds like your grandmother was brilliant. I mean, she had a point about a washing machine being a crummy present!

        1. LOL. She was rather her own person. She came from ‘good stock’, and all her sisters were cut from the same cloth. When they all got together (not that often as they all live so wide spread and far apart), I can remember how intimidating it was, but learned SO much about life and how to behave, and, thanks to my Great Aunty Annie, how to live each day so that when I went to bed at night time, I went with a clear conscience and the knowledge that, with luck, I’d made God smile and happy with my behaviour that day.

Imagine the scene in Last of the Summer Wine, where all the married ladies got together for tea and gossip … THAT was what it was like.

I always sat either at the table ‘pretending’ to take no notice of their conversations because I was apparently colouring. Or … on the floor, over to the side so that I could easily be ignored, drawing or playing cards (Solo or Solitaire). I learned SO much that it was better than any lessons at school.

    1. Hello Tami 😀
Thrilled to meet you, and, like you, I’m so grateful to Puff for introducing us.

If you haven’t already found them yet .. . you might like the posts about Anne and Malcom. They’re a ‘from my imagination’ couple who are married to each other. Anne is a crafter, who has wonderful craft room settings, but Malcolm sees a craft room from a different angle, with amusing results.

There have only been two posts about them, at this time – as I wanted to make them ‘surprises’, every now and again rather than a regular thing. BUT . . . the posts are of the type that you begin to read, then you ‘get into’ and just as you’re wanting them to go on forever, they come to an end. But with the knowledge that we’ll visit with them again, in a few months time.

This is a link to our first visit to them: https://thecobweboriumemporium.wordpress.com/2016/10/17/craft-living-with-anne-and-malcolm/

And this is the link to our second visit: https://thecobweboriumemporium.wordpress.com/2016/12/07/craft-living-with-anne-and-malcolm-2/

Hope you get a giggle from Anne and Malcolm.

Thank you SO much for coming and for signing up to the madness. Don’t be a stranger…. remember to come and chat whenever you feel like it, and I promise that I’ll always reply.

      1. Hizzah! (I am clapping my hands) I love stories, especially ones filled with whimsy and imagination! I have a few short stories myself if you are interested https://tanglewoodtapestry.com/category/short-stories/ there are 3 very short, but do not feel obligated to take a peek. I will not be offended, in fact I seldom get offended by anything. I will be poking and prodding your site in depth at some point – pardon me if I hit a ticklish spot with my probe. Puff is such a lovely person – I do have concerns about her haunted oven. I think that she just thinks it’s broken but I’m convinced there are other-worldly forces behind it.
I’m off now to introduce myself to Anne and Malcom. Have a fabulous day! ❤ Tami

Thank you so much for sharing.
Hope you like Anne and Malcolm. They’re a bit ticklish too. lol.
