This Little Piggy is a Valentine Little Piggy!

When I first saw Hunkydory Box Pops (last year) I fell in love with them and bought two sets.  Farm and Jungle.  And … I bought them just to make for my Grandson, Little Cobs.

I made him one at Christmas (and forgot to share it with you!  tsk)a Christmas Crocodile – in a clear box, to which I’d added a bundle of ‘snowballs’ – and he loved it.  (Who says you can only make Christmas cards for children with Rudolph or Santa on them?)

You can make these Box Pops as simple or as complicated as you like, and can use them for almost any occasion too!  For Children, they fit the bill and work perfectly.  But … I can actually see that they could work for adults.  They inject an element of fun into a card.

You make up your chosen animal using the die cut elements.  Then you can either press it flat and put it into an envelope (envelopes come supplied with the die cuts), or you can make an Acetate box and pop your card into it so that the recipient can keep the card held inside the box after they’ve displayed it – or you can seal the box shut so that the card will be held inside the box and protected.  (If you’re not good at making boxes then there are boxes, cut to size and ready scored, from Hunkydory).

In the above photo – I tried to light piggy so that you could see the folds of the ‘box’ which make the body of the pig.  Hence the reason they’re called ‘box pops’.

Once made up, you can simply press your animal flat and put it in an envelope – but it will pop back up when the recipient opens it up when they receive it.  The head is fixed to the body by a folded piece of acetate, which gives the card ‘nodding dog’ look. (or in this case nodding pig)So cute!

This Little Piggy Loves You.  (Well it would ….  after all, it’s a Valentines Pig!)

I made the lid of the box out of acetate, so that the pig can be viewed from the sides and the top.  And … the funny thing is … when you look at piggy through the sides, he’s looking at you.  But when you view piggy from above …  he’s still looking at you!  How does that happen?  Is it magic?  Maybe piggy is  Super Pig  –  (like Super Man).

I added hearts and stars which I sprinkled around the inside, and finally added a ribbon handle, and ribbon around the base and the lid, and VOILA!  One Valentines Card, from a Grammy to her 5-year-old Grandson.

So ….  Happy Monday!

I know Mondays can be drab sometimes, but give it chance.  You know they nearly always get better, even if you don’t feel the ‘happy’ straight away.  Give the day chance to show you the warmth, the smiles, and even the love.  Allow yourself to have a lovey day!

Most of all . . . whatever you’re doing today,  be good to yourself  …  and to each other.  It helps the world go around and makes life so much enjoyable and pleasant.  And the world could do with a lot more enjoyable and pleasant in it.

Have a truly blessed day.  Heaps of love and squidges from my corner, to yours …

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

    1. Hello Lovely Jessica!
Me? talented? … aww … you’re wearing your rose tinted spectacles there, aren’t you! LOL.
      🙂 ❤
I too wish we were neighbours … because at the moment I don't have any neighbours who craft, at all! It would be such fun to have someone nearby to share coffee, cake and crafty goodness with. That would be a little bit of heaven for me. ❤

Thank you so much for coming to share some time with me, and for staying to have a chat too!

  2. You grandson is going to be so happy to get that pig! And yes it is a little unnerving that no matter where you look that pig is looking at you. Do you feel his little eyes following you as you walk around the room?

            1. What is this ‘lonely’ of which you talk?

I haven’t been lonely since I had our two girls. Not even when I went for a tiddle was I allowed to be lonely. And now… now that I have a Grandson … even he tries to take away the lonely when I go for a tiddle. But he does it in a different way. I tell him over and over that I’m a big girl and able to go alone. So he whines, sulks and then stands outside the (locked) bathroom door and leans against it, crying crocodile tears (nothing wet even comes out of those eyes), calling over and over … “Grammy? Graaammmyyyyy!” – even with me talking to him through the locked door, he still refuses to allow me to be lonely.

ah… but I love him in spite of it, and … it’s one of those things which makes me feel loved.

    1. Hello Samantha.
Aw I’m so glad that you like this Little Piggy Valentines card.
I love these 3D cards – especially so for little ones.
I should have shown everyone the back, but forgot to take a photo of it. The piggy has a curly tail on the back and feet, and mud splodges, and is filled with cuteness all round. Yes, you’re right, they aren’t just cards but ornaments too. I can see these, on a shelf, dotted around Little Cobs room. I think that would give him great joy! LOL

Wishing you a fabulous day my friend. Make it a memorable one! ~ Cobs. x

    1. Hello Kathy! 🙂
I think Hunkydory have made it over to the US … possibly originally by Create and Craft on TV.
You could check out the US website of Create & Craft and see if they have them on the site there. Failing that … I’ve just called Hunkydory direct and spoke to a really lovely lady, and asked her if Hunkydory sell direct to customers buying in the USA, and she said ‘YES!’! She told me that they post every Tuesday and Thursday. I’m not sure about the postage charges to the US, but anything I’ve ever bought from them has always been very reasonable. They (here in the UK) will only charge one charge (£2.99 UK pounds) for as many items as you want to order. (Unless you spend over £100, then the postage is free) – but obviously these charges will be different for posting over-seas. If you want to have a nosey around their site: http://www.hunkydorycrafts.co.uk/

I can’t begin to say how lovely the company is and how helpful they’ve been whenever I’ve called with an enquiry. Really lovely folks.

Thanks for the visit Kathy! Love chatting with you. 🙂

  4. I too thought those pop boxes were lovely when they cam out, just haven’t got round to buying them yet (think I need to make space before I cram any more into this little room!), but that is one Mighty Fine Piggy and I am sure your grandson will love it! 🙂

    1. Hello Kim.
I feel your pain. I’m trying to use up things in my craft room because of my magpie problem. lol.

Great to see you. I’m currently trying to catch up with people’s blogs, and I’ll be round to yours very soon. Looking forward to seeing what I’ve missed!
      Till then… happy crafting! ~ Cobs. x

    1. They’re far nicer (cuter too) in real life, and once ‘finished’ they leave you enough creative room to then play around with them and turn them into your own creation.

Thank you so much for the comment, and so glad that you like the card.
      Have a blessed day! ~ Cobs. x
