Guess who had a play in their craft room? [grins] I’m still not feeling 100% and the mojo is still M.I.A. and hiding somewhere in the craft room, but I’m still on the case and, with the help of our dog (an animal who can smell a biscuit crumb from 30 yards) I’m hoping to find that missing mojo very soon.
In the meantime I put together a Birthday card made with components from Hunkydory.
It’s a 3D card which folds completely flat, so no need for a big box. When opened up (into an X shape) the middle sections are hung from invisible thread (from my sewing threads box) and the two dimpled gold rings, and the central disc picturing the racing car, spin around – in a slight breeze (from opening a door nearby), or if you blow very gently on them.
below are three photos which show each ‘quarter’ of the card so that you can see it from all sides.
So – finally, one card done! That’s a big move forward in the right direction. I’m off again to the craft room this afternoon, so fingers crossed … there might be something else to share on another day soon. [GRINS a very hopeful grin!]
Happy Wednesday the 18th of January! Did you know that … on this day in History:-
- 1644 – Perplexed Pilgrims in Boston reported America’s 1st UFO sighting
- 1788 – The first elements of the First Fleet carrying 736 convicts from England to Australia arrives at Botany Bay to set up a penal colony
- 1896 – 1st demonstration of an X-ray machine in US.
- 1919 – Bentley Motors Limited is founded
- 1944 – The Metropolitan Opera House in New York City hosts a jazz concert for the first time. The performers were Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Artie Shaw, Roy Eldridge and Jack Teagarden.
- 1964 – Beatles 1st appear on Billboard Chart (I Want to Hold Your Hand-#35)
- 1967 – ‘Boston Strangler’ sentenced to life
- 1973 – John Cleese’s final episode on “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” on BBC TV
- 1980 – Pink Floyd’s “Wall” hits #1
- 1981 – Wendy O Williams arrested in Milwaukee for on-stage obscenity
- 1991 – Longest tennis match at the Australian Open, Boris Becker beats Italy’s Omar Camporese in 5 hours & 11 mins
That’s just a little handful of things which happened on this day in history. Wikipedia have a huuuge list, and if you’d like to read more about todays date simply click on the name.
Hope your week is off to a good start and that the weather is treating you kindly, wherever you are on the planet. But … if the weather is fowl and you have bills to pay you’d rather not be paying … just think … you’re in a better place than you could be. So please look at what you’re blessed with, and have a truly lovely, blessed, rest of your day.
Sending squidges from me in my corner to you in yours.
Wow! That card in incredible! Bravo. Are you doing ok? Is it your back?

Hello Jessica,
In part it’s my back – but a whole load of other things are going ‘wrong’, and I now have a new doctor who seems like someone who will get to the bottom of these things. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he finds out what’s wrong, so that we can put it right.
Thanks for your lovely comment. 🙂
Great to see you!

Hello Samantha.
Invisible Thread … if you can’t find it in a haberdashiers … try Ebay. I bet that will turn a selection up for you. 🙂
Thanks for the lovely comment, and for the visit!

Sorry, small technical hitch there! Somehow I ended up posting a two-word comment to you, then got flipped through three other blogger’s posts without me touching a thing!! I clearly have special skills. I was going to ‘so nice to have you back’, in capitals, but I am now wary of my caps key as it is clearly possessed… Super card. Hope you continue to feel more like yourself. One mojo step at a time! Xx

Hello again, Puff! LOL
I do that ‘touching the keys and breaking the internet’ thing all the time. It’s my silly fingers. They go off on a journey all by themselves and quite frankly, I think I should be really happy that they haven’t bought an American style fridge, or even a racing horse …. yet. lol
Thank you for the wonderful wishes. I too hope that I’m on the road back to where I belong. (crossing fingers)

The card looks really good, Cobs… when I first saw it, I had in mind something to do with the Solar System for some reason! And speaking of which, I’ve never heard about the 1644 UFO sighting, and I’ve done a lot of research into the early 17th Century, around 1642 to be precise! I must have always looked at the other page where that occurred… how odd!
Hope you’re feeling even better now!

I’m getting there Tom.
I can totally understand why the card made you think of the Solar System! All those circles and the ‘globe’ in the middle.
Like you, I hadn’t heard of that UFO sighting, so before I posted it, I double checked using Mr. Google as my friend, and he told me many times that it did seem to be true.
So lovely to see you Tom. Thanks for the comment, and the visit … and the good wishes.

How fun to see you on “hump” day . This card is totally you because it moves and does all kinds of fun things. Hang in there…you are going to get to the bottom of this health thing what ever it is. We are all praying in that direction. Now…invisible string? Couldn’t very thin fishing wire ,which isn’t wire by the way, be used. I would think so but you know some days I don’t think like other people. Yesterday was my #1 sons 50th birthday. Good heavens…that must be why I don’t think clearly on some days. I have a new order for 20 Thank You notes. Better start thinking. I know…I need to post and photo and blog ..Yes, Mam!

Hello beautiful Beverly!
The invisible thread . . . I bought mine from a regular haberdashery section of a department store – but you could buy it on ebay or at a sewing store. It’s used for any where you don’t want any stitches to show.
BUT . . . I’m not certain about this so don’t take this as true …I’m guessing that you could perhaps use fishing wire (I know it’s not wire but ‘line’). However – it might undo the ‘tie off’ or knot, so if you try this, then pop a dab of glue on the knot (glue which dries clear so you can’t see it) and leave the thing alone overnight, to make sure it’s dry right the way through. That way the knot won’t be able to undo itself.
Good luck with the Thank You notes! But I know you’ll make a splendid job of them because you’re amazing at what you do.
Thanks for your prayers dear friend. I’m very, very grateful for them.

For someone who is not 100% and perhaps still a few pages in the wind…..you have crafted an awesome card! I have a feeling I could be at 100%+ and not make that one.
I think your mojo is well on it’s way to returning! So good to hear from you.
And yes, I am truly blessed.

.. actually laughing out loud here. No, you’re not losing your mind. You poste me a comment, but it was waiting for me to get going and publish it. (I’m getting better, but still working on half power. lol)
Turmeric … the smell of it makes me sneeze, and sneeze, .. and sneeze!
Why? Has it got some hidden properties?
If it will make my home clean itself, magically make cakes and sew sublime dresses? (like in Cinderella. Bibbity bobbity boo!)

I could us some magic right about now. Been helping son #3 load wood from that monster tree we had taken down. I figure if he is willing to chain saw it I could at least help load. (if his dad was here I would be helping him) There will be fire wood for next year. The turmeric is magic. You must google it or go to Greenmed info. I’m telling you it is magic.

I shall research the magical properties of Turmeric, I promise.
You be careful when helping with the moving of those huge lumps of tree, young lady!! We don’t need you doing yourself some damage. That is … providing that you haven’t already done this. tsk tsk.
Please be safe Beverly.
