Tea or Coffee, my Fabulous Friend?

Personally, I’m a coffee drinker.  But I’m more than happy to make you tea…  or  –  we could go out to that lovely little tea room, here in town, where everything feels like it belongs in the 1940’s and 1950’s?  There’s even a good old-fashioned Globe of the World in the window which has paled with time, and harsh sunshine.  They have cakes under domes, and table cloths, and it looks kind of kitsch and is painted all lemony.

Remember those carnival type ornaments which we were told were precious (when we were little), but they were actually made of a chalk like substance and if they got chipped, you could see the white chalky ‘stuff’ inside.  They have some of those there too, decorating the walls or placed around the tea shop in strategic places.  (I’m not sure if they really were worth something – a genuine ‘collectible’  type of thing, – or if they were just precious because of the memories attached to them).

Or, we could go round the corner to that much-loved cottage tea room, which has a courtyard garden.  It’s very lovely in there and just a little bit ‘vintage swish’ too – and we can sit in the garden if the weather is good, or inside if it’s a little chilly!

OK.. so I’ve got mine,  . . .   what are you going to order for yourself?

Anyhoo . . .

I made a card asking my fabulous friend if you’d like to share a coffee, or a tea, with me… while you peruse this latest offering from the Cobweb.

fabulous-friends-3

The paper in the background is just so lovely.  Just the right blue, with little circles made from pearly white dots,  and perfect for what I needed, but I don’t know who’s paper it actually is.  It was still in it’s ‘book’ – but the front cover has disappeared  –  leaving me without even a note!  tsk tsk.  The cup and saucer are Tilda.  Yes indeedly doodly!  None of those cheap market stall cups and saucers for you!  However, I fussy cut into parts of it in order to make it what I needed it to be, then covered the original ‘picture’ of a glittered star (in the saucer) with proper glitter, in two colours to give it a little more depth.

The doilies, flowers, cotton muslin (behind the flowers) and the hat pins all came from my stash.  The Pearl Strand of small, medium and large pearls which trails around the card, is by Anna-Marie Designs.

roses
soft little fabric roses all sewn onto a ribbon of net.

The little fabric roses (shown above) – which run along the top and the bottom of the card, actually came from The Range.  I’m hoping that The Range still has these in stock (I doubt it) because I absolutely love them.  They’re so soft, so pretty and so light weight.  They go into envelopes easily but then pop back up again upon opening, and they don’t add any weight to posting a card either.

And that, as all the very best Magicians say, is all there was to it!

Happy Wednesday all!  Monday and Tuesday just flew past and I now find myself in the middle of the week with what feels like a gazillion things which I need to do, and not enough days left in this week in which to do them!  Honestly, I swear to Dog that since we moved to the seaside, someone is taking whole chunks of hours, days and sometimes even getting very cheeky and stealing a whole week out of my time, for time, apparently, flies past like it’s on the wings of a jumbo jet!  Aw, enough moaning Cobs!

Sowhat about you. what are you up to today?  Going anywhere?  Doing anything?  Supposed to be doing something but want to do something else instead?  Go on, tell me all about it.  It’s just you and me (and a few others), and I’m not going to tell anyone!

Wishing you a truly Wonderful Wednesday.  May the sun shine, if the wind blows, may it blow softly, and may you end the day with a gentle smile and the knowledge that life, even if a bit tough sometimes, is still good.

Sending you my love, and a special Cobs squidge!

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Wow, what a lovely invite. I would like to call that a “fluffy” kind of friend card. By fluffy I mean, girlie, soft, delicate, angora, alpaca and pearls. I do have a bestie that would “suit” this lovely piece of art. Thank you for sharing this one Cobs. I am enjoying your blog immensely.

    1. Ohhh, thank you Soozyb. What a truly beautiful comment.
I know exactly what you mean when you say ‘fluffy’. You described it so well!

Do you have a blog yourself Soozy? I’ve tried to find it for myself but have failed miserably, but if you have one I’d love to visit to get to know you better!

Thank you so much for your kind words. They’ve given me my first big smile of the day ~ Squidges ~ Cobs. x

  2. The card is fabulous!!! And, my day……hmmmm…..it was my birthday (yes truly!) and I spent it sitting with my mom at the hospital while my dad had hip replacement surgery. But, my middle son and his girlfriend took my husband and me out for supper (dinner-depending where you live). It was actually a great day of time with family and beautiful sunshine.

      Happy Birthday, dear Chicken
      Happy Birthday to you!
.. or, with dad having the operation … should I be singing Hippy Birthday? lol

Hope dad went through the surgery with no problems, Chicken.
Dinner out with son and girlfriend must have ended the day beautifully.

I wish I’d have known it was your Birthday, I would have made a card, and dedicated it just for you, and we could have all sung Happy Birthday to you, together. In perfect (?) hamony.
Belated wishes from my corner to yours.

    1. Hello, wonderful MrsP. Happy Wednesday!
      Tea? Coffee? Cake?

Thank you for your truly lovely words and for the comment as a whole.
You might not believe this but … all the time I was making this card I was thinking of you! The little doilies, the choice of vintage, but feminine styled cup. Hat pins, pearls – even down to the soft colours of flowers and the message (sentiment) holder. I knew what I wanted to achieve and you were the inspiration! 🙂

Have a blessed day my friend!

I adore vintage …I think it's most definitely my style LOL
I'd love coffee & cake if that's OK with you, I've been studying all afternoon & my brain is now frazzled.
I hope you have had the most perfect day x

        1. Frazzled is not good!
(what have you been studying?, and why?) (not being nosey… no .. actually … yes I am. I’m also a liar as you see! lol)

I have had my own woes today …
I’ve lost all the electrics – lights and sockets – in my craft room!! HOW IS A GIRL TO COPE??? (just between you and me … it made me cry! what a blubber baby. sigh)
Our fabulous electrician came round this evening to take a look, and so knows what he needs to order, and will be back at 8.30am on Friday to do the fixing. Until then, Mr. Cobs says he’ll run a cable from the house to the craft room (converted garage – which I inherited from the previous owner. ALREADY CONVERTED INTO A CRAFT ROOM!!! Can you guess what sold this place to me? lol)

Vintage suits you. (suits your personality)
Oodles of love and squishy stuff… Cobs. x

An already converted craft room ??? wowzer !! now who’s a lucky girl, if a picnic basket sold me a car a craft room would definitely have sold me a home 😀 It must be wonderful to have a dedicated space *drool* moi envious ?? …. ERM YES

            1. Electricity is being restored AS WE SPEAK!!

The already converted, dedicated Craft Room … when I saw it (when we came to view) I stood in it and cried. [sigh] … I really did .. I’m such a blubber baby – I cry at good stuff and bad. Babies and animals. Everything, generally, makes me cry.

Moo Dusting. What a brilliant idea. I never thought of putting Little Cobs to work. I think I should perhaps take a leaf out of your book and put him in his baking pinafore and set him to work.
(sounds like a plan to me!) lol

  4. That’s a lovely card and a wonderful invitation! You talk about it like it was easy to just put together, but I know how much thought and planning went into each item on it. Very good job, friend.

Today I am trying to work but my mind keeps drifting. I wonder if my boss will notice.

    1. It actually wasn’t that difficult to make. It was just difficult to clean up after I’d made all the mess! lol.

What does your mind keep driftting to? Good stuff, or worrying stuff?

Hope everything & everyone is fine and groovy where you are.

  5. Fabulous card. I do love a teacup, or teacup image, even though I do not love tea at all. But cake…. Oops, back to the subject. I love all the little extras here and there. Something to catch the eye everywhere. Super job.

    1. Why thank you Miss PP. No, I don’t do tea either. I’ve not drunk tea since I was 13 years old. So … about fourteen years now.
(yeah, and if you believe that you’ll believe that I can nail jelly to the wall too).

Thank you for your lovely words … bless your heart. see … there are so many reasons I lub you.. and this is just one of them. 😀
