A ‘Ewes and I’ get together.

I had so much fun making the Brush Art (‘Art Work’) (link will open in another tab)   which I made last week and couldn’t wait to make another,  and,  as luck would have it …  when looking for something else in his shed, Mr. Cobs found a pasting brush which he’d never used and asked me if I wanted it for anything.  DID I EVER!

I couldn’t wait to get to work on it.  I already had a plan, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I had some tiny wee sheep knocking about my craft room,  and an urge to play with paints.  That pasting brush didn’t have to wait long.  Within a few hours the brush handle had been sanded (thank you Mr. Cobs) and I was getting my paints out.   Although it took me a few days to actually complete (drying time/setting time/working time etc etc)  I love the end result.

I’ve taken a couple of photos so that you can get a better idea of it from each side….

The hedging at either end of the field – I made by needle felting, using wool tops from my felting stash.   I needle felted the hedging,  the tree tops  and the ‘babbling brook’ running between the bottom of the field and top of the bristles on the brush.

The ‘babbling brook’ is more loosely needle felted, in three blue colours of wool tops – so that I could get that ‘look’ of  moving water.

I’m having so much fun with the making of these brushes.  I realised, while making this one, why I was enjoying myself so much.  I LOVE miniature.  I’ve always like to make and work with miniature things.  Things with detailI haven’t really been able to since we moved house, as there was still so much of my ‘stuff’ packed in boxes or just not enough room to get everything out and find a place for it.  But it’s slowly coming together and that’s brilliant.

Ewes and I 4

Would you believe it ... I already have a plan for making another one!  Aw .. I’ll try not to bombard you with them … but when it comes to crafty fun – a gals gotta do what a gals gotta do.   🙂

So anyway ….

It’s Monday again.  Someone stole one of my days over the weekend.  It went from Saturday to Monday.  Somewhere along the way I’ve lost Sunday.  If you find it, let me know will you, and I’ll go and pick it up and bring it back.

Did you do anything fun over the weekend?  Go anywhere?  Make anything?

Do tell,  share,  confess your sins.  YES.. CONFESS!   Aww  – now this could be good  . . .

  • Step inside this wee box and confess all your sins.
    • Have you spent too much money on craft items?
    • Have you coveted your neighbours ass  nooo that really doesn’t sound good in today’s worldTry again  ….
    • Coveted your neighbours servant?  Nah, no one has servants now. (do they?)
    • Have you coveted anything belonging to your neighbour?

Or is there perhaps something more juicy,  pressing down upon you which you wish to confess?  It will be just between you and me (and a select handful of other bloggers,  who have all be sworn to secrecy), and we will naturally all forgive you for eating those toffee sweets;  buying yourself something  clothing related and hiding it at the back of your wardrobe; (an old friend would do this very thing.   When she eventually got the item of clothing out to wear,  her husband would comment on it and ask if the thing was new, and she would always say:  “I’ve had this for ages!  See,  you never take any notice!”).

Well anyway ... while you’re plucking up the courage to confess,  I shall say… that’s me done and dusted.  I really enjoyed making this bit of artwork and so hope you like too.  Please let me know what you think.  You know how I love to chat.  🙂

It’s lovely to see you here.  Would you like another coffee?  Biscuits?  Toast?

Sending oodles of squidges from my corner to yours . . .

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Awwww! This is just fantastic Cobs. Love everything about it. Such an inspiring project. Cobs, for some reason I am not getting notifications of your posts. I have just re-followed to see if that will clear it. I hate missing out on your wonderful creations. Have a great week.

    1. Oh, I’ve had that problem too! I don’t see new posts in my ‘reader’ for some blogs I follow either so I did exactly the same thing – and so far I think it’s working.

Thrilled to pieces that you like the Brush Art. I’m having so much fun working on these and inside my head is tumbling around with ideas for others.

    2. There’s a section in the ‘Reader’ page where you can get up all the blogs you follow and decide which ones you wish to receive emails from. You then have the option to receive them either:

      A. Immediately after the blogger has posted.
      B. Once a day.
      C. Or at the end of the week.

Ive selected most of mine to not notify me, a large selection to come through weekly, and a few of my favourites to come through immediately. Cobs of course, is on my ‘immediate’ list! 😊

I hope that helps Florence xx

      1. Yes, I’ve got that one tied down (as the young folks say), but I still had some blog posts which didn’t show up in my Reader … so every now and again, I pop into my followed blogs, go down them, and if I realise that I haven’t seen anything from that blogger for a few weeks, I’ll go and take a gander around their blog and see if I’ve missed anything.

I think it’s just a WordPress blip which happens now and again.
It’s computers … they’re trying to take over the world and failing miserably. (which I’m kind of glad about because the thought scares the living daylights out of me and has the ability to give me nightmares. lol)

Thanks for your helpful hints and tip though Sharon.
        Bless you ~ Cobs. x

      2. Thanks Sharon. You are very kind. I should have said notifications by email. I am not sure why but I don’t receive all email notifications. Its not specific anyone. It just happens now and again. I did wonder if it happened when people publish posts from a different piece of kit than they normally do ie., laptop instead of the home computer etc. Would that make a difference? I’m not sure. I no longer use the wp reader as it doesn’t pick up the non wp blogs that I follow and to be honest it takes an age to load. I use a blogger reader and put the urls of wp blogs I follow in there. Seems to work better 😉 My favs do come through on email. Thanks again, Flo x

        1. Oh yes, this ole computer internet thingy is very mysterious indeed! And I get very cross with it often, especially when I can’t find my way around WordPress. One day I started following a blog and opted to have their new posts emailed to me, not realising that they generate about 25 per day! I got such a shock on the Friday when 437 emails came through! 🙂

          1. OH. MY. WORD!
As someone who only opens their emails two or three times a week … that would be enough to send me into brain blowout!

Although … Outlook keep fiddling with their system and sometimes they don’t tell people that they’ve done another bit of fiddling. This week I clicked to delete some emails – the ones which were showing on-screen – and normally what WAS happening before this day, is that just the emails you could see would be deleted.
BUT … they’ve fiddled and … I found out, that the whole kit and kaboodle was deleted, apart from the three emails I’d selected on the original page.

A minor panic happened for a moment, before I realised that I suddenly felt free. Like I coul fly. And so I decided that this was the universes way of telling me that it would take care of things for me and I should just go on my merry way. So I did.

            1. It’s nice to be free. but does that mean you did not receive my last email? It began with:
‘Thanks for the great advice…’ and at the end I asked you for any Radio 4 programmes you could recommend? xx

  2. Cobs, I am so glad you sent me over here, as this is just fabulous! It looks for all the world like scene out of the countryside. Everything is so small and so dear. I love the felting, and I’m very impressed with the “sky” you created on the brush handle. What fun! I don’t blame you for wanting to make more! And thank you for inviting me over for a peek.

As to my sins…I’ve been down with a nasty summer sinus infection, so I haven’t much felt like sinning. Mostly I’ve been resting and blowing my nose and taking naps. But I’ll be well soon, and then all bets are off! Hugs!

    1. Hello Kathy!! 🙂 🙂
Aww I’m thrilled to pieces to see you here and filled with fun bubbles that you like the Ewes and I brush art.

I’m sorry to hear about your summer sinus infection. I hope you’ve seen your Dr. about it.
I began a sinus infection over a year ago now, and it’s only just (fingers still crossed here) cleared up after a huge dose of super strong antibiotics which the hospital prescribed. The whole thing made me feel proper poorly, so I can relate to how you are feeling right now. (I’m not sure that they’ve finished with me at the hospital yet … the Dr. said she may have found something which might need a little surgery. Tests are being done).

If that infection doesn’t clear up soon Kathy, please, please go and see your family GP. Don’t leave it.
Thank you for coming, my much loved friend. It’s an absolute treat to see your name pop up.
Sending you healing hugs, lots of love and … a box of tissues for the snotty nose.

  3. That craft is so cute!!! Maybe I love it because we used to have a flock of sheep.
As to the coveting….I was coveting everyone’s wash machines that were working but now I have my new one so that coveting is done. I am, however, confident my eye will land on something else I might covet……big sigh.

    1. LOL … ah, I think we’ll exclude coveting the washing machine since it was a very trying time. I know the pain of a washing machine breaking down. Early in our marriage (a gazillion years ago) our washing machine simply refused to work one day and for two weeks I had to haul the washing to my mums house and do it there. Then haul the wet washing home and dry it. My mum kind of loved it because she got to see me regularly, every couple of days (I’d do mixed colours one day, darks another, whites another) and she loved it. But we came up with the money toot sweet for another one. When the new baby arrived I don’t think I’ve ever been as pleased to see a delivery man before! I darn near kissed him. LOL.

      1. Thank you for the pass on that one :). It was a trying time. It died the day before my husband had surgery for hip replacement. It had been drilled into me to have everything germ free and spotless. I could not figure out how I could keep our laundry germ free with a busted washer. I also made trips to my mom till mine arrived. (She also liked it!).
I hugged my delivery guy…….it was one of my sons so no problem there. I may have even gave him a squidge…..or two.

        1. Absolutely loving this … and smiling, so wide that I swear it’s reaching from ear to ear, at the ‘squidge’.
Ahhh… I’m like an infection with words. I pass them around and they just ‘take’. LOL 🙂

  4. Good afternoon Cobs. Absolutely amazing work, as always, and reminds me of my school summer holidays cycling round the countryside. So amazing I’m lost for words. Now…..the confession I have to share( that I won’t get arrested for anyway)……. Last Tuesday, much to my delight, I was nominated for Woman of the Year 2016 at our local slimming club…..and blow me down with a feather…. I only went and won! Apparently you were nominated by your peers for being an inspiration, but I was just being me, we have such a lovely group, they should have all one! That’s it for now, better get back to work before they notice! Hugs Kim x

    1. Ohhhh KIM!!! Many congratulations my wonderful friend.
Aw I’m so thrilled for you that I’m sat here grinning like the proverbial Cheshire Cat, and anyone looking on this scene would think it was I who’d been nominated!
Bless your heart. I’m so, so pleased that you won and … I can understand why. You really are just amazing and make people feel so ‘at home’ and comfortable with you.

I love it. Absolutely love it. You’ve made my day. (I’d been having one of *those* days today … it began so beautifully . . . and went down hill from there, but, you’ve pulled it back up, and I’m now running on full speed again).

Everyone say Hip hip HOORAY! for Kim. [listens and hears the world cheering]
Well done Kim. I’m just made up and over-joyed for you. ❤

  5. You know how we all decide in our heads what 3 things we’d save if our house ever caught fire?

Well if the World Wide Web ever went wonky and we had 24 hours to save just 3 things, your blog would definately be one of them! 😊

    1. Awww, bless your heart.
But … you can get me anywhere in the world. Just ask Mr. Google for Cobweborium .. and that one word alone with give you ‘our’ blog as the top result.
(‘our blog’ because it’s not just mine, it’s yours, Flo’s, Mrs P’s, Oscars, Millicents, Chickens, Ruthies, Puffs, oh, and lots of other culprits too; everyone has to share the blame – not just me. lol)

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!! No. No. No that’s not ever going to be allowed to happen. Never. No. Absolutely not. You see … I have too many friends who live inside this computery-thingy-mabob, and I would miss them all so very much. No. NOT ALLOWED TO HAPPEN. E.V.E.R.
… going to have to go and lie down in a darkened room until the panic goes away!
