Take time to Stop and Smell the flowers

6

I’m going to attempt to say as little as possible in this post (because I’m WAY too ‘wordy’),  and instead just add ‘points’ to tell the story of what went into the making of this card, in case you’d like to make one like it.

1

↑ ↑ ↑

White 8 x 8″ scored & folded card on which to build the finished card  + 2 x  sheets of Kraft (craft) card  +  1 sheet of  Black card.

Measure, cut and attach the black card to the front of the white base card.

2↑  ↑  ↑

Embossed one sheet of craft card in a ‘hessian’ effect embossing folder

3↑  ↑  ↑

Cut into the edge of the ‘hessian’ card to make it looked like frayed hessian.  Then lightly dragged some ink in three colours over the hessian effect so that it looked grungy.   It didn’t matter that it wasn’t blended properly – most of it isn’t going to be seen – but it’s more important for it to have that ‘old and battered’ look.

Attach the ‘hessian’ to the black card which is fixed glued to the front of the card.

4↑  ↑  ↑

Embossed another sheet of card (cut to size) – but this time the Kraft card is a warmer shade than the ‘hessian’ effect card.

5

↑  ↑  ↑

Die cut a bike and fill the ‘basket’ on the front of the bike with an assortment of flowers.  Add brads to the centre of the wheels, then attach the bike to the card.

8

Stamp up a tag with the sentiment.

(The wiggly border on the tag is hand drawn with a fine tipped pen).

9

Die cut a fob watch shape, added a metal clock face, pointer – and a ‘dis-armed’ large brad cap. (there’s a smaller,  hidden brad which holds the pointer in place and because of that the pointer actually does spin round!)  Attach the fob watch to the front of the card – over the ‘hole’ in the tag, so that it looks like the tag and watch are ‘paired’

Add a brown ribbon bow.

Ta dah!  Finished.

Thank you for coming and taking a look at one of my card makes.

I really like this card.  Do you like it too?  Please – let me know!

Author: The Art of Cobwebs - aka:- thecobweboriumemporium

Hello. I'm 'Cobwebs'. I live in a wee little cottage in the South of England, aptly called Cobweb Cottage. This little dwelling really is a cobweb factory. Not inside (well, occasionally) - but outside - flipping heck! This information should give you a clue as to why my blog is called The Art of Cobwebs aka: The Cobweborium Emporium. I've been arty and crafty from a very young age, and although my crafts have sometimes turned a corner and taken me in another direction, I've always crafted in some way, shape or form. One day, in the blink of an eye, life changed somewhat for me and the consequences were many. I had to find a new way of being 'artistic'. Card making; scrap-booking; producing ATC's and ACEO's; needle felting; Polymer clay; painting- but in a more relaxed style than I had before, and sewing, - are all things which I visit, as and when life allows. I've fairy recently become a Textile Artist and am enjoying this new creative outlet very much as it offers me so much scope for letting my imagination run through a grassy field and feel the wind in my hair - (mentally, of course). I love to create. To make things. I truthfully believe that the best gifts in the world are those in which you've given your time, rather than your cash. Thank you so much for visiting. Please visit my blog (link below) and have a look around. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, even if it's only a handful of jokes! (yes, seriously - there really are jokes!) Wishing you a truly blessed rest of your day! ~ Cobs. <3

  1. Oh, how my heart skips when I notice another email from WordPress and it has your name at the top!
What can I say? Love it, love it, love it!
You’re not too wordy at all. Your wit, and enlightening descriptions make verbosity seem quite pleasant as yo take us on a journey into the mind of a very talented creator of all things pretty.
You are not a card maker, but a BESPOKE DESIGNER of beautiful cards.
Thanks again for helping to start my day with a smile 😊 xx

    1. Dearest, funniest, most loveable blog friend, Sharon … I cannot describe how much you fill me with the warmest of warmth and love, and give me the biggest smiles.

Every comment left on my blog means the world to me. It allows me to hear what everyone thinks, and also lets me know whether I’m making things which people out there might like, – which is really important to me because, as you know, I make all my cards for charitable causes and so I kind of need to know that I’m making cards which people would buy, because if I’m making the wrong types of card, then the charities won’t receive the much needed money that they could recieve from them selling those cards.

So a big THANK YOU for letting me know, Sharon, that you like the card. I cannot put into words how much it means to me that you’ve taken the time to type a comment for me. God Bless you. You’re so kind and have such a beautiful heart.

      On a slightly different subject:
It’s getting closer to your daughters Birthday (and mine too 🙂 ) – and when it arrives, – please let her know that Cobs is wishing her the very happiest of days. (and I’m wishing her LOTS of cake too!) lol. 😀
Love and squidgy stuff ~ Cobs. xxx

  2. You have a great talent with making cards. If we both had the same embellishments and the exact same ‘blank’ to work on, mine wouldn’t come close.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Bless you, LemonD. Thank you so much for your comment and for the smiles I got when I read that yours “wouldn’t come close”. I actually laughed out loud and shook my head to disagree. I think yours would be a more fun style of card, because you’re one of those beautiful, fun people in life, who loves to make things which have their own smile.
Sending love your way ~ Cobs. x

    1. Hello Beverly 😀 … and thank you so much for taking the time to comment, and for your lovely words.
I have to admit that I was getting a little worried about you, because I hadn’t seen any of your fabulous makes recently, so was wondering what you were up to. (I kept telling myself that it’s the summer holidays both here and there where you are, so you were likely busy with little ones).
Hope everything is okey dokey in your world.
Sending love, as always ~ Cobs. x

  3. Hello
You really did have me fooled as I actually thought it was a piece of hessian – remarkable how you achieved this with cardstock.
This is so pretty and carefree and evokes summer days.
Before I leave let me say THANK YOU for taking the trouble to visit my Blog, Adorn, that means so much to me.
With you being only a day over 27 (!!!) and me so much older at the age of 46, I can say that yes, I have heard of Biba and I never thought of the Biba face but it is true that the dolly eyes are very similar. Maybe a 60s vibe would have been better than the road I travelled into the woods.
Hope you are having a lovely summer.
    wishes

    1. Hello Lynne, I’m absolutely thrilled to see you here! Thank you for taking the time to comment – I very much appreciate it. When I set out to make the card I knew I wanted the ‘mood’ of the card to suggest summer days from times gone by – so I’m joyous that you picked up on that feeling.

I kept the colour palette neutral so that all the colour came from the flowers, and I chose those carefully so that they really ‘popped’, but at the same time they have a vintage look to them.

Aw, I can’t begin to tell you how absolutely delighted I am that you saw where I was ‘going’ with the card.

But … Lynne 😮 …[whispers] you think you’re forty six ??? Nooooo. [shakes head vigorously] The golden rule of age (for a girl/woman) is that your inner child is never older than your shoe size, and your ‘public age’ is never older than your bra measurement. (But your internet filling in forms age is always as old as you can get it to be – which seems to make me 101 years old on every internet form I’ve filled in. LOL). The only reason I never got past ‘only 27’ is a long story and goes back more years than I care to think about [gulp] – but it stuck and I’m now forever “ooooonly 27”! 😀

    1. Hello Stacey 😀 Hope you’re fighting fit and having a great day where you are. Thank you for your really lovely words, my beautiful blogging friend. You are so kind, bless you. x

With regard to you hoping to “make at least one card with half the talent” … [gasp] 😮 What about the incredible Golden Tag Card you’ve just made? It’s beautiful! Before you began that card you’d never made a Steampunk card before, and then – VOILA! – you produced that card from your magic box of tricks – and it’s wonderful! It’s not a card, it’s an amazing gift in an envelope!

pft … you have talent by the bucket load, and it’s all great!
Sending you heaps of love and squishy stuff ~ Cobs. x ❤ 😀

    1. Ems!! Hello. 😀 It’s so fantastic to see you here! 😀 Thank you for your beautiful comment and words, which made me smile and brought a warm glow to my heart. I love that you like this card.

This is one of the cards which are now being directed towards a new charitable ’cause’ which I’ve chosen, so I’m thrilled that it’s liked as I want so very much for the cards to raise as much money as possible for this new cause. (I’m thinking that it might be an idea to perhaps write a post about the new cause so that everyone knows why the cards are being made, and who they’re going to benefit. Hmm.. [nods] I think I should do that very thing!) 🙂

Aw it really is wonderful to see you here Ems. Thank you SO much for visiting and leaving a comment for me – it means more to me than you’ll ever imagine.
Sending love. Have a fabulous day Ems. ~ Cobs. x
